Sorin, you should have put brand and model number in title "HP Pavilion 14-CE". If someone is having this same problem, Not booting, no picture, it gives them a better chance of finding your video. Increasing your views and subscribers. So often we find the same problems over and over. Just like a broken belt on a vacuum cleaner, look for locked up bearings on beater/brush bar.
Sorin, regarding the HDMI subject, you can test even without windows loaded. First disconnect the LCD connector. The graphics card will detect that there's no internal display and tries to output to HDMI. If you have an HDMI cable connected to a tv or capture card, it will display even without windows loaded. Nice work
I ALWAYS enjoy your videos. Would love to meet you and say hey some time. I just had an HP 15-DY come in and it was the same problem, but the screen was flickering instead of being completely out. This model has 2 RAM Slots. I had to go accross all of the pins with my iron and it fixed the issue. I tested each pin and they would not move, but you could tell that the solder points were scetchy. The pins were not even loose this time. Just resoldering with a solid connection did the trick.
Oh my god!! I can't believe it! Because it wasn't giving me any POST codes, I thought it might be booting up with no picture so I checked the CAPS LOCK and saw that it wasn't turning on. I even swapped the RAM out thinking the chip was faulty. So I was in the right neighbourhood but I never considered the socket pins could have come off like that! Thank you very much!
I agree here, I had exactly the same problem with this laptop. Only re-soldering didn't help for me, I had to replace the entire socket. But I'm actually afraid of how many of these laptops end up needlessly in the trash.
My video about same fault on the same laptop had 200 views in 2 weeks and Sorin's has 3000 views in 3 hours 😄😄. I wish he does a video about making videos so I can learn not to suck at it. You make it look so easy, Sorin!
You saved my ass.. 🥳 i had ssd upgrade job on hp 255 g7 and after cloning the drive and cleaning up system , it froze and gave me corrupted bluescreen after which it was not booting anymore and i had memory fault code flashing. I could have lost money on that simple job,and you saved me . I owe you at least few more months of membership. I am greatfull to you! Thanks 🙏 🥰🥰🥰
I wonder how may of these laptops are just thrown away when it is only dry joints that are causing the problem? It realy helps if you know what to look for before just buying a new one.
This really looked like a BIOS issue to me at the beginning. Maybe the experience with this exact model of laptop was key on diagnosing the issue here. I wouldn't have found it so quickly.
@viniciusvb22: Yeah. I also thought that the fault was the SpiFlash memory and I would have put a new one in without programming it at startup and recording it later without hesitation if the fault continued. All the best.
Hello Sarin. I have two laptops hp zbook studio x360 g5 The both have same problem. Most of the time, but not always, when I connect the charger, the system makes a lot of noise, to the extent that the touchpad stops working, and sometimes the touch screen LEDs turn on intermittently. This happened so many times that a little shadow of the LEDs remained on the LCD. I tried with another charger, but it still has the same problem. Finally, I concluded that the problem is with the charging circuit on the motherboard.I am from another country, so I can't send it to you, and the repairman couldn't find the problem either. I wanted to see if you have experience with this laptop model and this problem?Even the schematic of the laptop is not available and I did not find anything about it through searching. Thank you for your guidance.
When confronted with this type of problem, the first thing I do is reseat the memory. That fixes it 25% of the time. the next thing is plug in an HDMI to a monitor. If it's getting a picture, you know it's a bad screen or video cable. If neither, then I get the v/o meter out.
Pretty sure this is what has happened to one of my HP 9470m EliteBook..I will check it today.. Sorin did you notice how may blink codes the caps lock was flashing? PeaceFromOz😊
Thankyou so much🙂👌🏻 My question Hello sir, thank you for making this repair video tutorial, I have the same problem on my secondary laptop, no display, blank display. I do not understand this issue. But my laptop mesin is normally life. This laptop the default RAM frec 2666mhz or 3200mhz? true or false. Please do reply
I don't think it matters which way around you test so it just so happened Sorin picked up the red probe first - 50% change he could have used the black one!
@emmanuelvalmas5468: A while ago I read an answer: If the DMM is placed in the diode test function and the positive (+) test lead is brought to a ground point (GND) on the PCB, the current supplied by the internal battery voltage of the meter is reduced to the minimum necessary for proper functioning of the selected range. He received a lot of criticism. Another way of saying it: I don't know the answer with certainty, however, it collides with what they taught me in technical school for the diode test function. So for me it is a "conventionalism" that is left to personal discretion whether to use it or NOT. The following is a certainty: For the continuity function, the polarity of the test terminals in their placement on the PCB is not important. All the best.
Their laptops are made like shit and they are flexing the board a lot i think. Had one just now with same issue ( hp 255 g7) . Might be intentionaly designed like that, wouldn't surprise me ..
Without a microscope, I can't tell whether a pin of such fine pitch is moving or not. 😢 But... Buying a microscope is also kinda meh. Then again, I'll use it for many years if I actually buy one.
HP is notorious to use the cheapest graphic cards and chips in their products since early 2000. The worst brand on a market. I've used to have X1000, G62, G2-2nd Gen, etc. All have the display issues, all of those. Avoid

Just had this issues with 255 g7 .. it's hp in general fault
This video will save you a lot of hours in troubleshooting.. 👍

this DOES NOT WORK FOR DELL LAPTOPS.without detecting the screen connected, they dont post.
Worked with my previously owned Microsoft Surface Pro 7. HDMI worked before windows loading after the internal display was disconnected. 👍🏽

The same thing happened to me and i didn't know what's causing the flickering, but i assume the RAM or the RAM socket is the problem

If it makes you feel better I gave the video a like soon after you released it. Also been subbed for a little while too. :)
@@justinspiredfallout Thanks, it does make me feel better :-)
Thank you! I reseated the ram, but this vid made me do a close inspection and find a stubborn bit of dust on two of the pins.
Testing with capslock is nice also external wired USB keyboard is handy to test boards outside the case

the best pc service, I like your work
I'm always waiting for the "And we have picture! I cant believe!" :)
Ah! The Famous Thinkpad T30 RAM slot soldering gone bad fault has now a successor!
What was the liquid/solder you used on the pins? I have a HP laptop with the exact same issue!

It's not the issue with just this model , it's hp in general, and their tolerance for chassis flex.
thank you ! it's very hard to find !. I have one, i will chek it
Thank you so much always sir
Good work. Manufacturing Problem
hp pavilion 14-ce0595na - Good advice. the ram slot end pins on the one I looked at was floating also.
Nice work
Thanks bro 😮😊
Hi Sorin, very usuful video if it's a common fault thank very much
Hi Sorin, I have the same model, it turns on with no image and the caps are blinking. Please help

What soldering iron you're using ?
One word! Perfect!
I have 3 laptops that just stopped and had to replace, would be nice if I can learn to fix and see what's wrong with them.
Howoww do you open the bottom tap at first?
Pretty sure this is what has happened to one of my HP 9470m EliteBook..I will check it today..
Sorin did you notice how may blink codes the caps lock was flashing?

Super tare. 🎉
How one could identify this sort of problem if the laptop doesn't have a caps lock indicator?
Only easy if you know how... and I don't know how
No easy repair. Experience made it easy.
Thankyou so much🙂👌🏻
My question

What do you call something that is yellow?
Ok nice repair but the question is why these pins is broken?!.
lovely
May I ask because it's a bit confusing, how come in continuity / beep mode you test with the red probe on ground as in diode mode?
I don't think it matters which way around you test so it just so happened Sorin picked up the red probe first - 50% change he could have used the black one!
He was checking for short circuit, it would have shown very low resistance regardless of polarity
There is no difference between probes in beeping mode he's looking for a short circuit or abnormal resistance.

That happens cuz of bad manufactured electronic soldering !! They use cheap solder !!

It's always the same problem. When I see this model it's an easy fix.
HP has made a bad design, especially the RAM sockets.
Not only this model 😢 it's common fault with many hp laptops
Pls what is that lotion you use for soldering. Don’t be offended am just interested in computer engineering
Easy repair if you know what to look for. What kind of interesting flux do you have?
It's witchcraft not diagnosing 😂
