Wait a minute...wait one minute...the fantastic four were struck by cosmic rays so their power is basically cosmic, the control rod was used on Franklin so maybe the two types of powers mixed giving him that amazing level of power. they should have a story where Doom or someone else figures this out and tries to basically get similar powers to Franklin Richards...or even better they decide to combine even more power sources to see what they can create.

There is also a comic where they force Franklin into the next tier of evolution, and he becomes so powerful that he is whatever he is perceived to be. They did this because Galactus had died and the universe needed a replacement, so they used Franklin. They believed him to be Galactus, and he just became him and forgot he was Franklin.

    • @Spoopball
      @Spoopball 6 месяцев назад +5

Cosmic rays, and the cosmic control rod use the same source (last I read)
The power cosmic, which is also galactus' power source.
It's why it all ties in together.
Basically Susan storm and Reed convinced a child (made of the power cosmic).
It's why galactus would be come his herald. Galactus gained the power cosmic by being the last person surviving the last universe (universe number #5, we are in #8 now).
Galactus, was imbued with the power cosmic, but Franklin was literally born from it.

Thought experiment- would this mean at some point Franklin would take an aspect of himself, an avatar if you will, to fulfill the “prophecy” of him and Galactus merging at the birth of the next universe but the true Franklin has evolved to the point of becoming The One Above All? Seeing everything play out like a kid watching ants nudging his avatar to nudge events the way he wants. It sounds convoluted but if that was the case and Franklin is TOAA and has seen everything play out in every universe it would make sense. Thoughts?

I very much doubt it was ever the original intention.
_But_ that doesn't mean they couldn't have adopted it over the decades that theory has been around - completely or in part. It's definitely somewhere in their drawers, as a plausible enough explanation to fall back on when they need it.
Heck, it's a great excuse to keep him hovering at the sidelines - the narrator always wanting to have a good view of the action, but subconsciously being scared of standing in the line of fire himself. Fits well enough with his X-Gene "dilemma" too: As Xavier said, he saw the X-Men as the coolest people back in the day, so he retconned himself to be a mutant in order to associate with them. But when they became so isolationist during their Krakoa phase, he became unsure if he wanted to be part of that, and - in his mind - potentially having to leave his family. So he subconsciously retconned his powers again. With the mutants' approach like that, he was bound to anticipate the pot boiling over, with them in a moral gray area and having to re-find themselves to not fall to their extremist elements - as we've since seen across their _several_ global, interdimensional and interplanetary wars that directly resulted from their isolation...

What if the reason why so many bad things happen to Spider-Man is because there has to be some sort of balance to Franklin always shifting things in favor of the heroes and that he knows Spider-Man can shoulder the burden and take it? Peter is one of Franklin's favorites (as well as his uncle) and, though it's not something he'd want anyone to have to suffer, he knows Peter can keep moving forward. Can only imagine what would happen to Peter if he learned such information if true.

A theory I've had about Franklin for years now is that Franklin willed himself to remain at a young age for "decades". He seemed to be the only child that never seemed to age (yes I know it's the writers that don't want a universal reality warper to age because then they have to figure out how to neuter him). I remember when Scott Lang was apart of the FF when they thought Reed was dead, his daughter Cassie and Franklin were about the same age, but then she aged and became a full on teenager, but Franklin was still around the age of 8 or something. Same thing with Kristoff, that "heir of Doom" kid, he aged, Franklin didn't. Would have been a good twist seeing as how no one in the marvel universe seem to have noticed.

What writer would destroy a reality that they get to create and live in. I've written stories like that myself, no way am I killing off characters that I created.

I assume The One Above All remains unaffected by Franklin's control?

You have The Beyonder/Beyonders, Scarlet Witch, anyone with the Infinity Gauntlet, etc. That's not to mention the beings who have the capacity to destroy the multiverse. I don't know about DC, but there are far too many OP characters in Marvel to take seriously.Too many cosmic threats, and too many overused plot devices.

*This is a very interesting theory, one that sadly MatPat hasn't brought up, even in his retirement from hosting Game Theory. It's also one that really makes me think not only about how the original Marvel Universe works, or even the original DC Universe for that matter, but exactly what part of the demographic this particular superhero comics character (Franklin Benjamin Richards) relates to the most, either coincidentally or on purpose. Keep in mind however that this theory may as well work with demographics for all mediums. Please do bear with me as this is me expanding on this theory LIVE as of March 23, 2024, 9:35 p.m. CST. THIS VIDEO IS THAT INTERESTING...!*
    5:59
By the logic of this theory, this tells me two things: 1.) Whatever heroes and villains the action medium consumer loves the most are thus likely to be preserved, and 2.) The characters in question are thus likely to be revived whenever the circumstances in question deem it necessary. And so this very logic should follow that Franklin Richards represents every superhero, comic book, action fan, etc., who wants their favorite characters to be protected from any imminent danger that they would deem unwarranted; you see your hero being confronted by dangers you never asked of them? You can fix that! You're worried that your favorite hero would die of such an unwarranted travesty? You can revive them! Have you often asked, out of legitimate fear for your hero, "what if" this and "what if" that? You can find whatever branching paths towards the future that you're the most uncomfortable with for your hero, and make sure they never occur! If this is exactly how Richards can control the entire Marvel Multiverse, remember, *it's because that is possible for an action medium consumer!* I see this to be possible for artists, medium producers, supporters, and critics alike!
    3:41
That's not even mentioning any moral implications of this logic strictly regarding *children* who love superheroes: this moral implication mainly being that if Richards is the reason superheroes never really die, it's because ultimately *it is the action medium consumer that decide not to let their favorite action heroes die forever.* Think of it like this: beginning in Ancient Greece, there may very well have been some instances where even the religious affiliates of the time would actually *immortalize* a human character and make them more divine than usually expected of them, but even then, that had never legitimately been the case for ANY entity up until *Superman's* very first debut; since THAT time, which was in June 1938 with Action Comics issue #1, WHENEVER a child read about their favorite superhero being confronted by any imminent danger they don't find very comforting, it is usually their parents' responsibility to make sure that every issue informed is immediately resolved to the point of satisfaction. Now, of course, especially in this case, since *children's minds are impressionable,* we can place most of the blame on the parent for any degree of issues in question they would potentially fail to address. Sadly however, I see this following up with a major problem; mainly, I see the exact same thing happening with *adult* consumers of action mediums, obviously with no parent to meddle here. And so a moral question comes to mind thusly: since Superman's debut *as an action hero,* is this the main reason to suspect action medium content that is mostly considered violent? *Has this been the main reason for issues of violence having been legally addressed throughout the field of politics, especially regarding action medium content, strictly to benefit a child's safety? Has this also been the reason why this generation have become a bit more wary of how action heroes have been portrayed today, striving thusly in pursuit of more pacifist role models, especially for their children?*
On a more somber note, however, those questions of such moral implication might not even matter at all very much; as of the near end of the 2010s, both DC and Marvel are slowly changing for the worst - they're placing our favorite heroes in settings we never asked of them, rendering different issues unto them that we never asked for, and even sending subtle messages to the consumer that might as well come off as annoying at best, and underhanded at worst. To add salt to the wound, I actually see Marvel and DC making DAMN sure that they meet our demands from here on out, and all of this might as well be for *nothing;* by the logic of the theory presented in this video, we might as well be asking WAY more for our favorite heroes, to the point where some of us are actually willing to stomach anything REMOTELY fueling *nostalgia,* however retrospective! And so from here, the logic suddenly unveils to me a very sad case: that besides not wanting our favorite heroes to die forever, we never really wanted them to die out like we're currently *seeing* them die out; instead, we want our heroes to be *exactly* as memorable as they have been since their first portrayals, from whatever medium, in whatever iteration, *in whatever time setting.* I'm afraid that as long as we're demanding that Marvel and DC only churn out what we...demand they churn out *exactly* the way we...demand it..., *communities of every background will start shifting towards more and more categories of value formulated in small, masquerading circles; how will we all be able to unite then...?*

Could it be that his ghost of Future Past timeline has been running in the back of his mind or imprinted itself into his subconsciousness. His young self initially didn't know how to react to his future self's ghost about the horrors of the future timeline that Rachel Summers came from and most likely had kept but initially suppressed those true memories. It's likely that he also didn't forget his love for Rachel Summers too. So that future ghost might still be running things and in fact still be in charge of Franklin personality wise due to his imprinted future memories that's not being suppressed anymore. His more experienced future persona is guiding his younger self how to use his powers and solve problems that he'll encounter in life.
Anyway as for the MCU, always thought that it was the Heroes Reborn/Return scenario for the lack of mutants and it's not the X-Men joining the MCU, it's actually the other way around. The MCU is joining back to its parent X-Men reality. It's just that Scarlett Witch, SpiderMan(Tom Holland)&Dr Strange broke beyond that reality orb bubble of the Heroes Reborn Orb that Franklin carries around and the dimensional barriers starting to falling apart. Similar scenario to the Marvel Agents of SHIELD's future timeline that got resolved and collapsed on itself after their timeline's history diverged. There's a connection to the main timeline and they're returning back to it just like the Age of Apocalypse survivors got integrated into the 616 reality.

Interesting concept. So where do characters like She-Hulk fit in as in the comics she has broken the 4th wall so many times. My next thing would be what about Captain Mar-Vell? He is still dead. I think people want reasons to explain why so many heroes come back from the dead. To me, the answer is simple. Marvel & DC kill off their heroes to sell comics. Back in the day it was very successful but they kept using it so now the death of a character means nothing. I don't buy into the Franklin idea at all. It's a fantasy world, so coming back from the dead doesn't need an explanation

Franklin is Marvel Editorial/Disney. Refuses to allow characters to age/die unless they become a problem. The sliding timescale is him holding the multiverse back. And why Peter Parker's life is so crap because he's actually jealous of Spiderman and hates the fact that Peter might have a better life even though he's been friendly. Don't even get me started on how he feels about Kitty and the Xmen...

TBH, I'm more of a manga aficionado, but diving into the Marvel universe has been like stepping into an abyss, especially with this whole Franklin Richards scenario. The idea that one character can manipulate the universe to ensure heroes always win, resurrecting them endlessly? It feels like a narrative corner has been painted. Just as I was warming up to Marvel and DC, this notion of a single entity holding the reins, time-jumping, and handwaving defeats to victory makes me hesitant. Why craft such a character, insisting this is the natural order of things?
This setup, to me, signals a lack of stakes. If outcomes are preordained by Franklin's whim, where does that leave free will? The essence of choice, the thrill of uncertainty, seems diluted. It's like watching a play where the strings are visibly pulled, reducing characters to puppets. This omnipotence, regardless of how minimal its intervention might seem, skews the very concept of free will. I'm finding my initial foray into comic lore shadowed by endless power scaling and retconning-a cycle not unfamiliar in manga realms (cough DBZ cough), yet one that feels more pronounced here.
Manga often treats fate and free will as intertwined threads; the presence of one doesn't negate the other but rather, they coexist, allowing characters to challenge destiny through sheer will. Contrast this with a universe under Franklin's thumb, where outcomes are seemingly predestined, rendering free will a mirage. Isn't there a dissonance in claiming freedom while under cosmic surveillance? To me, free will is binary-you either have it, or you don't. Introducing an all-seeing entity fractures this concept, subtly eroding the autonomy of the universe's inhabitants.
However, I acknowledge the complexity of free will. It's not to say that some level of oversight or consequence isn't beneficial; after all, our choices shape our realities, leading to outcomes both good and bad. The existence of Franklin Richards, while intended to shepherd the universe towards a brighter future, paradoxically undercuts the agency required to genuinely achieve it. If one person dictates the flow of time and events, where does that leave the collective free will of the universe?
Free will, in the grand scheme, involves choice, randomness, and the inherent unpredictability of existence. To posit a universe where one being's will can overshadow the collective destiny is to fundamentally misunderstand what it means to choose, to live freely. As I see it, free will's beauty lies in its unpredictability, its capacity for change-qualities that an omnipotent overseer inherently stifles.
As we navigate our current reality, marked by chaos and potential, the idea that one entity could dictate the trajectory of an entire universe seems more dystopian than heroic. True progress, true freedom, requires the messy, unpredictable contributions of all, not the predetermined machinations of one. This narrative choice, while compelling on a metaphysical level, perhaps inadvertently underscores the very limitations it seeks to transcend.
In sum, while the concept of an omnipotent character like Franklin Richards might offer narrative convenience, it also introduces a philosophical quandary that challenges the essence of storytelling itself. Where do we draw the line between destiny and autonomy, between a controlled narrative and one that thrives on the unpredictable nature of free will? As a reader seeking both escape and reflection in these tales, I find myself yearning for stories that embrace the latter, celebrating the chaotic, beautiful uncertainty of existence.
(Yes I used AI to kind of re-write it more for grammar and sentence structure than anything else and also my original comment was a massive wall of text lol, but kind of wanted to give my take on it without people being subjected to my chaotic mind

I think it's a really cool theory, and it makes some compelling points, but I'm not sold on it. There ARE holes (albeit most of which have solutions) but I think the one thing that stops me from believing it wholesale is that it's TOO neat. I feel like it very easily COULD be real, but the writers at Marvel just... haven't decided that's the direction they want to go, lol.

Within this context, it wouldn't be a stretch to believe that Franklin is the human avatar of the One Above All. It would the OAA equivalent of VR goggles. Take that with the Immortal Hulk establishing the direct line of gamma radiation to the OAA, making the versions of the Hulks throughout history the avatars of his rage.
That being said, whoever writes that story will have their hands full.

I’m not a fan of characters being killed off only to come back, when you double dip on dramatic moments like that it kinda takes away from them… like rewatching a movie where someone dies and you just say/think “oh he’s not really dead tho”

How would that scenario work with characters from other universes that came over into the main universe? Like Miles Morales, The Maker, etc…, is Franklin controlling all the universes at once? I know he can create universes, so did he create the Ultimate Universe? And with the perverted and viscous plots (I.e. Pietro and Wanda/the Wasp and Hank)did he think all that up and then use Battle World to destroy it because he didn’t like it and keep the characters that he did?
    So many questions😫🤯

When I think about the scope of the Incursions, about the power of the Beyonders, I ask myself, just how far reaching is the control this theory allows Franklin to have?
It took Franklin and Owen to recreate the Multiverse, yet they used the power of the Beyondverse to do it.
I don't think Franklin could have even dreamt of orchestrating its destruction or resurrection on his own.
So this begs the question, how would a child handle bigger, stronger kids knocking over every sandcastle on the beach including his?
Where in the true hierarchy of power do the Beyonders sit since no one truly opposed them but Doom, who had to use their own power against them to stop them, and is the One Above All truly just a powerful prime mover since a mortal like Sinister can attain a higher level of power than his now that Sinister has transitioned to Enigma?
"Control" is a funny thing, everyone thinks they have it right up until they don't......

It sucks, but it does not seem in narrative Franklin has control every major theme, like Judgement Day.
Forcing dominance over Galactus became trivial as he was becoming a punching bag, it was not unreasonable for a leash to be put on him.
I'm not sold, because there is a way to get around Franklin, due to his own involvement it will be superficial.
If anything, Franklin was designed to be a character readers can see as themselves a human evolving to godhood in order to replace the lofty presence of characters who start out as gods like the One above All (the two co-creators of Marvel Comics existing as a character). Beings beyond scope and reach Franklin ascends to their level and beyond.

So, I have a theory. The MCU is what would happen if Franklin didn't use his powers. It is an existence in which Franklin was never born. Take all three movies. All them happened before the birth of Franklin and also every villain in the MCU, with the a few exceptions have died, and crucial members of superhero teams have also stayed dead like Quicksilver and Iron Man. There have no mention of any of the being resurrected.

Honestly if Franklin Gets any knowledge that there’s a “one above all” then there’s nothing stopping franklin from willing himself to that level of power.
