    About Us.
Byther Farm is a small organic homestead, being designed and managed using permaculture practices. We aim for self-sufficiency in fruit and vegetables for increased self reliance and better resilience to the modern world. I recognise that we are unlikely to be truly self sufficient, but do the best we can. I share our home with my loving husband, Mr J and our cat, Monty.
We are a fifty-something couple who live on a smallholding in Carmarthenshire, Wales. We are going green and creating a gentler, cleaner and more healthy life for our family.
Having had a highly successful smallholding in Monmouthshire, we hope to recreate the abundance at our new home. There will be a large organic kitchen garden with no dig gardening raised beds and young food forest in which to grown our fruit and vegetables.
We keep a few sheep and Aylesbury ducks.
    Music from Epidemic Sound.

Do you have ornamental plants that you just love having in the garden? Which are your favourites?

Ooh that's a difficult one but if there's one I have to choose for it's ability to grow in the most difficult of situations that flowers for months then it has to be the mexican daisy erigeron karvinskianus🤶💚self seeds into every nook and cranny and I let it just love it with hardy geraniums coming a close second 😀

One of my favorite ornamental was inspired by you, Liz. For two years now, I have had deep dark pink cosmos that have multipled themselves beautifully. I love them!

@@anngelinakoenig-fales4153 I had the most beautiful red cosmos volunteers come up in my strawberry bed last year. I didn't have the heart to pull them out. I love them too!

I really love how this gentleman has planted all around the border of his yard, but has left some grass in his backyard for space for things like a clothes line, outdoor furniture and yard space. It all looks so beautiful!

Watching your videos is like taking a breath of fresh air, Liz! As for my tiny garden, I keep ferns and succulents on my small balcony that perfectly complement the space and light conditions🥰

Beautiful! He gave me some ideas for the flowers in my vegetable garden. I have lots of hummingbirds visiting my zinnias, but he has some flowers they would absolutely love! Thanks, Liz!

Thanks for sharing. It was lovely both to see his garden, and to learn about his approach. I would have loved to see his composting area, and his propagation set up. What a great guy!
