It doesn’t surprise me that Taylor is doing wise innovative things for themselves and the customers and the industry, They have been innovating since the very beginning and they keep doing it. I’ve been a Taylor player since 95 when I first heard about them and I believe they single-handedly changed the acoustic guitar market with their company ethos.

I bought a Taylor 810 back in 1998 that I still have, and it's a great acoustic guitar. At the time I bought it, I was A/B testing it with a current Martin D-28, which was originally what I was interested in. It wasn't even close. The Taylor sounded and felt better. And it's the only guitar I've ever bought that didn't have a single minor issue. It's still completely stock and it's almost 25 years old. Still sounds beautiful and has amazing action. Now to be fair, I understand Martin has upped their game since then. But at least from that time until now, Taylor has built up a lot of goodwill with their QC. Taylor also sold me on the concept of a bolt-on neck on acoustics, which I was skeptical about until I played one.

It's a smart move by Taylor, because it also builds long term brand loyalty as well by getting people into the brand. Growing up all I wanted was to be able to buy a nice USA Taylor. I finally got an 814ce last year. Bought a Koa plus too. I have no desire to look at any other Acoustic brands. Bob Taylor is also good to his people and is smart about the envirnoment and being sustainable.

Baxter and John are just simply the best. They're as honest as they come and they tell it like it is. They give credit where credit is due just as much as they'll tell you when something isnt good or fair. These two guys look out after us the consumer more than any other store/channel. Other channels should really pay attention to Baxter and John and be transparent and honest !!

I had always wanted a Taylor, but for some reason, when it was time to buy, it never hit me right in the store. A few months ago, I used the buy a Taylor get a Taylor to get an AD17E Blacktop and got the GS Mini Mahogany for $199. I absolutely love them both. It's an awesome deal.
Fender should have done something similar with their Squire overruns, it would have been smarter. But I honestly think some higher end Fender buyers would have been too pleasantly surprised by the quality of the Squires.

It's Baxter and Jonathan! Welcome back! I missed you guys. Since I found you and subscribed, you two have become part of my morning routine. This is a time of toxic, depressing domestic politics and a geopolitical situation that has us staring directly into the abyss. Not to mention the life problems we all have. Your unique brand of off topic guitar silliness is exactly the antidote I need sometimes. If I'm having a bad day, I'll always be in a better mood after watching one of your videos. The positive energy that you two project to the public is gold and more valuable to people than you may realize. It makes your random silliness profound. Sometimes I can be a sourpuss about the heavy relics ( I still don't like them ) but even the criticisms I have of those I write as a fan of everything both of you and Casino Guitars are and stand for. I know that both of you have the same life problems and challenges that we all have and it may not always be easy to just put a smile on your face and make jokes for the camera. It's not for nothing and it's greatly appreciated. You make people's day better. Well, you make my day better at least. Cheers guys. Thanks again.

Last year, I went to upgrade my acoustic, played 3 faiths, a Martin, a Taylor and couple of Cole Clarks.
Cole Clark was the best by a mile but twice the price of the taylor,
The faith had the best plugged in sound.
Taylor was the no brainer as it was the second best sounding (plugged and un-plugged) The best neck profile. And the most reasonably priced.

But the little guy is the one that sits beside me and the one I use. It's small and handy, if I bang it and get boo boo the world won't end and for it's size it actually sounds pretty darn good and my other two boxes are Martins I think says a lot for the little Taylor. This is my second Mini by the way so I knew what I was getting btw.

I avoided Taylor like the plague for decades. I'm a worship leader and Taylors are all over churches everywhere. A couple of years ago, I was in the market for a dreadnaught, jonesing for the old sound I used to get out of my Gibson before it fell apart. I talked myself into trying a 317, which I really liked, but it didn't quite grab me. Then the guy put a 717e WHB in my hands, and it was all over. I've met a couple of Taylor employees (I was living in San Diego when this happened), and the ones I met are not just happy to work there; they feel excited to be part of something really big and unique. Like all that stuff isn't just hype to them, and they're all in. So, yeah, I'm a Taylor fanboy myself. I'll admit it. And I may have purchased one or two more of them since...

Baxter got me singing, "I left my heart... in San Francisco..." and my mind went somewhere else... Taylor is a great employee-owned company, with Andy Powers as CEO, chief guitar designer and more, while Bob Taylor & Kurt Listug established great departments with long term stability, and training for new hires in El Cajon and Tecate. Speaking of the latter, when are you making the next Tecate tour and video?
Taylor Guitars Primetime is back on RUclips Tuesdays at 6 p.m. Pacific, 9 p.m. Eastern time.
A week ago, I had the opportunity to hear a Taylor 814 (L.R. Baggs Anthem added) after the owner had replaced the old strings with the new set of Santa Cruz Parabolic Tension strings that I gave him from SCGC's intro offer on 3 sets (the others went to a son-in-law, and in the case with the Cole Clark Angel 2 Redwood/Blackwood, as the Angel's next set). Ten years of R&D, and Santa Cruz Guitar Co. hit it out of the park!

Taylor is a good company. They make great guitars.
There current sales approach makes good sense. The sales of many things has been effected by COVID. People don't get out, sales aren't made. By making the purchase of an American made Taylor attractive, including a second guitar, they get people to commit. Once they do commit, it's not likely they will buy a Martin or Gibson, at least not for quite awhile. If that buyer becomes an absolute Taylor player, maybe that is all they will ever own- Taylor guitars.

Thanks for the video. Big Taylor fan here. I have two Taylor's - an 814ce and an 814cd-N. I only live 1.5 miles from the El Cajon factory so I've been over there many times and done the factory tour. Watching them make the guitars and using lasers to cut the wood was so cool. Just the aged wood smell of the facility is worth going. I want to get a Taylor 12-string but don't know where I'd put it since I already own too many guitars. I'm so very glad that they don't make mandolins or ukuleles since I'd immediately buy them. GAS (Guitar Acquisition Syndrome) is a terrible disease.

Taylor Academy 12, Breedlove Pursuit Exotic Concert E Sitka/Koa, Jeff Bridges signature Concert solid European Spruce/African Mahogany, and a Cole Clark Angel 2 are in my case rack... My SIL was given the Academy 12e and a non-signature version of that Breedlove all-solid woods Concert (both B-stock, both great guitars though I think the non-sig had a warmer, more open tone out of the box with a more satin finish).

Taylor's margins are insanely high. Their assembly line is the most technologically advanced in the industry, when you think of traditional craftsmanship, Taylor, for better or worse, is the opposite of that. They can do buy one get one, or buy one get one discounted deals because they make so much money on their guitars... It's not charity, believe me. Keep in mind, this is the same company that bought an Ebony mill, then managed to market to customers the virtues of buying guitars with striped Ebony (imperfect wood), giving Taylor an increased margin between projected to between $50-$150 per guitar for the difference in quality Ebony. No savings passed on to customers, in fact they raised prices a few years later and two use (the cheaper) striped Ebony even on the most expensive models. Of course they are winning because they give you guys, dealers, slightly higher margins than the competition. I've heard from people I've known for a long time at two dealers, I assume they do this for Casino Guitars as well. Correct me if I'm wrong... So it's marketing. It's manipulation. Do they build a good guitar? They build a product cleverly designed to appeal to buyers who aren't really familiar with the traditional guitar buying process and traditional tone.... "Winning" in terms of selling highly mass produced instruments at super premium pricing to a large customer base, sure. "Winning" in terms of getting the A list acoustic players like Billy Strings, Mike Dawes, Tommy Emmanuel and other players in that class to use their instruments as a main and give formal endorsement? No. Those players can play whatever they want, none of them are picking Taylor guitars. A lot of them picking instruments cheaper than really high-end Taylor's there's a reason for that, acclimated ears know a thing or two... Taylor is the new workhorse, get-it-done brand. I think more gigging musicians use them than any other brand and of course worship leaders, since they market direct to churches. They are easy to work on and will last you a lifetime, their pickup system better than under saddle system, but not as good as the latest LR Baggs or Fishman systems, they are very much ok instruments, marketed to make you believe they are the best thing on the market. I hate manipulation, I hate the company for their marketing and I do believe overpriced product, even though I've owned several and currently own a Taylor. They have their uses.

Yes indeed, Taylor does make great guitars - I used to own 3 of them (150e 12-string, GS MIni Koa, and AD27) and they were great guitars, but "used to own" is the operative phrase. Why?, their necks were too thin for me (I play classical style - thumb behind the neck), and I got tired of having a sore fretting hand after a half an hour to and hour of playing my Taylors. Unfortunately, Taylor at the present time, refuses to make the chunkier necks (well, at least a Medium C), that keeps my fretting hand happy (I e-mailed Taylor about the GT when it came out last year [I was very interested in it], but was told that it had the same "easy playing neck profile, as all of their other guitars" - ugh!), so no more Taylors for me. :(

Since I have several guitars and know a bit about humidity and proper storage, it only took the taylor less than 6 months to have the neck twist and the bridge start to separate. When I contacted taylor, I discovered that their warranty is not worth the paper it was written on. I have a D28 since 1970, and a Yamaha 700 acoustic for a bit more than 5 years, an ES 339 and an Ibanez artcore semi hollow body, I have never had any problems with. I don't like writing negative stuff about much of anything. But I think it's fair to say that I won't be giving taylor a second chance 😕

This is exactly the reason they have a bolt on neck design. WHY... Because they knew things like this would happen because of their overall design and the wood quailites are poor. You can change the neck angle pretty fast - but this is NOT under warrenty...

Not a big fan of taylors neck-sold mine for a PRS. Gibson would be in the race if they could build a reasonable price guitar without a colostomy.

Just my mileage and opinion. Not hating, but Taylor guitars are tonally flat to me. I don’t get it. Their necks feel small, their setups are not good, and their guitars don’t ring. They don’t have the same harmonic resonance and detail that even Martin road series have. I played a K22 CE recently ($5,500 guitar!) - I was shocked at how mediocre it was. They’re the most oversold guitars I’ve ever come across. Sorry, I just don’t get it.

NOthing sounds like a good Martin.....just go to the top recorded songs and see what they are using. Also the trade in value of a Taylor, which I did, was not that great. If you want a taylor just buy it and plan on keeping it, but don't expect the value to increase alot over time.

Taylor does not hold it's value on the used market, especially the high end ones. If I'm looking to buy one, it's still better to get a second hand one. You will save more money over paying full price for one and getting a deal on a Baby or Mini.

Eh, I just bought two Martins for what it would have cost to get one Taylor similar to the nicer of the two I picked up.

I am sorry but Taylor guitars are not great and they are over priced , they have no character but if you dig them I don't care. I am 70 years old and I used to watch Glen Cambell in the day play Ovations and he played them because they were made not out of wood and they were easy to play and never went out of tune. But they sound like crap and most people that like them are not acoustic players. I want an Ovation and I want a Taylor they are both guitars that shops can sell to the general public that don't know anything.

Taylor guitars are for guitar players who wear shorts. The only real winners are those who play Martins and Gibsons. Guitars made by hand and not by robots. However, point taken, they are currently offering solid value at a solid price point.

Idk why but your show is as addictive as the sports page I look forward to each morning show the past few days I noticed something different in the morning and it was because you tube wasn't kicking your show to me in the morning like it has in the past I already subscribed awhile back anyway I think it's fixed now so good morning I do appreciate when you do special show when people get their guitars stolen the good thing is you don't have to do those shows a lot but I think that's really cool what you guitar channels do to help musicians when pos thieves take what's not theirs they need to get a job and work n save for a guitar instead of stealing

I’ve never liked Taylor’s some time ago. I got a 814ce deluxe for $4000 and a gs mini for free. so idk how much in reality those even cost. A friend of mine talked me into buying a Taylor. I’ve never been into acoustic guitars. I mostly play the electric not on an amp whenever I practice. but I felt like it wasn’t worth $4000 I’ve since seen them on the used market sitting for months at &2500. In excellent condition on some used websites. I get scammed. If someone can make money selling it for $2800 I definitely got ripped off. unfortunately I still don’t like it and it sits in my mom attic now. She doesn’t play but she stores it in there. I completely forgot about it until I saw this video again. I’ve heard Taylor is a cult like place. They’re a company owned by the scientology people. I found this out later after buying one. it’s creepy they provide instruments to churches tho. Very weird, but hey don’t sound any better than cheaper stuff either. not sure what the hype for them is. I regret buying this garbage. maybe buy a used one. They scam you at new prices.
