This is becoming like the best vision of what Sonic 3 is suppose to be. I love this version of the Sonic 3 title screen than the final any day. The prototype tracks are also way better than the final. I love pre-MJ/Drossin Sonic 3 so much better. When this is finally released, this will be the only version of Sonic 3 I will ever play in my life. I will pretend that the S3K’s MJ/Drossin music doesn’t exist. Nice touch giving Super Sonic that ring toss power-up. I also approve the unused theme being used for Hyper Sonic. I will load this ROM on my Everdrive as soon as this is released.

I too like the proto’s over the finals. Well, actually, I like CNZ’s 1&2, and LBZ 1. I prefer the finals Icecap 1&2 and Launch bases 2, because to me in the prototype those ones seem generic.

I wish I had the knowledge to get a Sonic 3 cartridge, unsolder the ROM chip, get a blank EPROM chip, write the Sonic 3C Delta ROM (once available) into the EPROM chip using an EPROM programmer, solder the chip into place of the Sonic 3 cartridge board, and then play it just like an original cartridge onto the original system. What I'm basically asking is: Does it work on all kinds of hardware? (That are related to the Mega Drive) Because you'll never know, certain models of the console might present some bugs or glitches relating to the hardware.
I don’t think many people noticed this but sonic is using his sonic 3 colour palette instead of the sonic 2 one. I actually like it, even if it’s a small change.
Ok I have a question silver sonic. When I am in debug mode in sonic 2 (on my sega mega drive from @games) and die and then go in debug mode whilst dying and placing an Item my game loads completely wrong colours and the sprites of sonic robotnik and the zone itself become corrupt. Can anybody please tell me why that happens?

Because what I thinking your wanting to aim for is something like Sonic 2 Delta or the more recent Sonic 1 Delta if my hunch is correct. I think it'd be really cool if Sonic got a full sprite sheet for Super/Hyper, though I understand why if that won't happen, to stay consistent with Sonic 2. Also the life icon using the final sprite still bugs me lmao.
I'm not opposed to using a full sprite sheet for Super Sonic. After all, it's probably what the original developers would've intended had they had the time/space/resources. As for the life icon, the game was previously using the S2 icon, but this was switched back to the final's to be accurate with 1103. If any new information is found that would indicate the S2 life icon was used earlier in development, it'll be reimplemented.
How did people find the old prototypes and unused objects? I mean sure some objects and tracks are still in the code but why didn't they delete all unused stuff? Also... I haven't been here in 3 months. And yes I know about the Sonic 3C Delta project. Good work buddy!
Well, there's many reasons as to why things got left behind. This is prototype, so the developers weren't thinking about what was unused until the final game. Even then, the developers were under strict deadlines, and so all they could really deal to worry about was getting the game within the 2MB range. They didn't have the time to properly remove everything. I appreciate the kind words regarding this project!

They had no deadline and things like Hidden Palace Zone is still in it. Well only the object layout of course. And it's level select icon was still there... same with wood zone or genocide city zone! They all still have some sort of reference as a level but tiles and objects are removed. But they still exist! So why didn't they delete all references or cut content in sonic 2 or 1 concidering 1 didn't have a deadline too to my knowledge!
@@Nightborger09 Sonic 2 was incredibly rushed. If the developers didn't have to deal with that deadline, we would've have seen all those removed zones in the final version.

@@Nightborger09 Sonic 2 was rushed for the holiday season of 1992. Prototypes are generally tracked down and acquired by people who do a ton of a research. Though in some cases, prototypes will show up for sale in various places and people are able to buy them and dump them.
Now that is a neat touch, using Sonic 3’s theme for super Sonic, and the unused one for hyper. Does this mean that normal invincibility is the &K’s theme?
Normal invincibility should be Sonic 3’s theme as well. This hack is not suppose to contain any music composed by Howard Drossin, which is the S&K’s theme.
If I recall correctly, regular invincibility is using Sonic 3's theme. Explanation is above - and added to that, the Sonic 3 prototype used the respective Sonic 3 theme meaning it was made earlier, as suspected.
The ring shot could look better and use a different sound. You could use a revered ring sound for throwing it and Sonic could look like he's throwing it.
I noticed that the data select screen changed from the first time Sonic 3C delta was shown off, is it going to go back to looking like it did before, or will it keep the new look?
The data select has actually been updated again since this video. The latest design is based on some early assets and it looks very nice according to these who have seen it. I might keep it secret until a release.
Why is hyper sonic here? The only reason hyper sonic and the super emeralds were added in is because of how they wanted to give players who already obtained the 7 chaos emeralds a bonus and from what I've heard, there were 2 separate emerald data in both games so they changed the S&K chaos emeralds into the super emeralds for the combined S3&k game. So if anything, shouldn't it be logical to not have him here since this is a recreation of the prototype anyway?
Well, that is what SEGA has told us, but this was years after the release of Sonic 3 & Knuckles. The unused jump dash code found in the Sonic 3 prototype is almost identical to the Hyper Sonic double jump. I think it's possible Hyper Sonic was already planned.

(By that, I mean, the ending of super sonic ends with the egg robo rising from a scrap pile, which sets up knuckles' story (which I'm 100% sure is also canon) entirely. Like that's an odd decision to not have the hyper sonic ending be canon since almost every game before has you 100% the game to get a canon ending.
@@michaeldunlap1032 Who said the hyper ending wasn't canon? It's the only ending that shows the cutscene with Knuckles and master emerald seeing the Tornado off as it departs from Angel Island. It's no doubt supposed to be the perfect ending - even the save icon with all the characters it gives you is an indication of this. The only reason you don't get the Eggrobo cutscene is to not upset the mood. It just gives you the black screen with the logo and the characters instead.

If I'm honest, this '???' theme doesn't fit Hyper or Super Sonic. It lacks the oomph of all the other tracks. To me, it could've been an unused Bonus Stage theme, or an unused 2P Stage.
To be fair, it's very likely unfinished. I wouldn't exactly say the style of the track is befitting of a Bonus Stage or 2P stage either. Of course, our opinions really don't mean much, so we have to look at what we know. For one thing, there's no proof of a 6th unused 2P Zone or 3rd unused Bonus Stage. Secondly, the unused theme is the last music track in the sound test (if I remember correctly) located next to the Menu/Credits/Event themes. If it were to be a level or bonus theme, it likely would've been organized with the rest of the level themes. On the contrary, Super Sonic only uses the invincibility theme in prototype. Sonic & Knuckles Collection also doesn't use the theme, and instead labels it as a credits theme internally. To confuse things more, a portion of this track was later remixed for "Never Turn Back" which *was* a credits theme in Shadow the Hedgehog. In light of the conflicting theories, I just decided to make it a Hyper theme. But it's currently impossible to say what exactly it was for, though some options are more likely than others.
Hold up even with the explanation, I am not 100% why the 1103 Super Sonic theme was cut. I mean it sounds fine to me. So can you give us a proper explanation?
Are you asking why Sega scrapped the theme? Well, there's really no way to know. Perhaps they thought it was too unfinished sounding. Either way, it was replaced with the MJ miniboss theme.

To me, it could've been an unused Bonus Stage theme, or an unused 2P Stage.
To be fair, it's very likely unfinished. I wouldn't exactly say the style of the track is befitting of a Bonus Stage or 2P stage either. Of course, our opinions really don't mean much, so we have to look at what we know.
For one thing, there's no proof of a 6th unused 2P Zone or 3rd unused Bonus Stage. Secondly, the unused theme is the last music track in the sound test (if I remember correctly) located next to the Menu/Credits/Event themes. If it were to be a level or bonus theme, it likely would've been organized with the rest of the level themes.
On the contrary, Super Sonic only uses the invincibility theme in prototype. Sonic & Knuckles Collection also doesn't use the theme, and instead labels it as a credits theme internally. To confuse things more, a portion of this track was later remixed for "Never Turn Back" which *was* a credits theme in Shadow the Hedgehog.
In light of the conflicting theories, I just decided to make it a Hyper theme. But it's currently impossible to say what exactly it was for, though some options are more likely than others.

Are you asking why Sega scrapped the theme? Well, there's really no way to know. Perhaps they thought it was too unfinished sounding. Either way, it was replaced with the MJ miniboss theme.
