It might be completed this year. Sonic & Knuckles will expect the Sonic 3 data to be located at specific addresses, so simply switching the serial number of the Sonic 3 prototype wouldn't work.
So that means that you need to import some data from Sonic 3 to that adress and the rest to different locations, right? If not then it would be nice if you could go into detail.

That's the overscan color. It's only really visible on some emulators or on original hardware. In the final game, they set it to black for most of the levels.
I wonder if you’re going to make the sky palette change to a DayTime color once you defeat Eggman or once you step on the capsule to accommodate the daytime palette used at the beginning of IceCap Zone.
@@SonicPlayer2004 The concept art depicts IceCap at night time, so I'm pretty sure that was the plan, they just didn't code the night time palette yet.

It can be made using debug mode in the original Sonic 3&K, but it does nothing.
Judging from the fact he doesn’t even touch it, it’s likely he repurposed it as an instant exit to the bonus stage

@@donkeycheese8098 I modified the boss to use Knuckles's behavior throughout because I thought it was too easy and Knuckles will skip FBZ anyhow.

I'm not aware of such a path. I know there's a unique path for Tails, but I don't think there's anything else.

@@SonicPlayer2004 Yes, it is. But IceCap being day during the intro and night during the miniboss doesn't make a whole lot of sense.
