Scritti Politti Unplugged in New York City, 2006 - a short film by Tiziano Sossi

During a short promotional tour were Scritti Politti they played live after 26 years they made this unique unplugged unformal gig in Brooklin in the Sound Fix Store. Was promotional for the album masterpiece White Bread Black Beer. I met Green in Chicago and he told me about New York gig so I was there. 150 people tight in a very small room in a record store, only small lamps as light and me sitting at the top of a couch taking it. .The light was really low and the sound was what you can hear. But was so much fun to see Green always very picky and perfectionist in the albums be human and smiling and take it easy every problem there was. So I left ll the pause between a song and the other. This is the first time I upload the entire footage and without video effects. As usual to show that is not an official video I put a mistake I named Robin Hood as Eobin Hood. To show I made this videos for real passion and love.

I loved 80s Green but I love this version more. I mean the guy could write those big pop hits but there’s something more organic about this version. This seems more like his true self. In my opinion this guy is quietly a genius.

Green is a totally changed man when it comes the performing on stage, one would never think this man’s stage fright was so bad in his early days that he would get physically sick beyond description…….I believe his producer & longtime friend Geoff Travis of Rough Trade Records really pushed him to get on stage & tour….wow what a transformation for Green Gartside….Awesom video of this rarely seen artist,…. thank you…

maybe he just finally accepted that the sound that made Scritti famous simply can't be reproduced live. So the live shows need to be something different.

@willritter4076 his sound very much can be reproduced in a Live setting, I saw him in 2007 here in California when he was opening for the beach boys Brian Wilson & I was completely floor how good Wood Beez, Perfect Way & The Word Girl sounded to the 80's original. Most of the scritti set was him w/band playing songs from White Bread Black Beer 2005 album...hope preforms live in 2024, or better yet, give us a new album, it's only been 19years since his last release 🤣
