Thanks for the video. I have try 2 belts already and they seen small. I found a 39.5 belt going to put it on in a bit. Hopefully it fits. I got it from autozone part number is 4040395 continental belt
Thanks for the video!! I wanted to do the opposite, and get my AC going again on an '06 PT GT 2,4 L Turbo Convertible (with black cloth top). The PS Steering Pump seized, and I decided not to go to the expense & trouble of replacing it. So... to bypass the PS PUMP PULLEY and just connect the belt from the crank pulley to the AC Pulley, the best fitting belt was a Duralast 360K4. Because it was a tight fit, the crank had to be turned to get it on. I live in Vegas, and even on 110 degree days, the AC blows so cold with this new belt, I have to lower the fan to avoid frostbite. Hopefully this saves you the trial & error time we put in.
I just did a 2003 pt cruiser 2.4 turbo with a seize compressor, the belt that worked for me was a 38.2”, Duralast 382K4, the 39” was way too loose for the car I worked on.
Amazing demo and no AC bypass pulley required. Perhaps that is why Dorman and others don't make an AC bypass pulley for the PT Cruiser. So, how about a long term performance update on you belt trick?
Thanks for liking the comment but an update would be appreciated. After watching your video I couldn't find the alternative serpentine belt winding diagram for PT Cruisers without AC. The belt is tensoned from the inside with your way. Is that 100% reliable? I have an '01 PT and just want to bandage it along for as long as possible. Thanks.
I need to know the size of that one I got one from advance to put on without air conditioning and it's way too long cuz the same thing my air conditioner is shot also that's what caused it to break so can you give me the length of that belt or what manufacture and model number is it please thank you John.
On the 2004 they made it to where the frame is in the way So The tensioner pulley bolt can not back out all the way so you cannot replace the tension pulley it's self. Any bright ideas? Thanks Be Blessed.
i think you have to remove the tensioner first then the pulley second. try that first maybe. its a tight spot to work on thats for sure! i dont think its necessary but worst case scenario you could rock or lift the engine.
Thanks Mr. John 613! This was a really good video and you may have just saved me from the hassle and expense of repairing my AC. Like you, my PT has been good to me! I bought it cheap from a medical student who was leaving the US and used it to commute 500 miles a week! Did you happen to know the part number of the belt? 🐺BTW, Cute Dog :)
I believe there is a part number in the comments here somewhere but I’m in my studio app right now . Try browsing the comments if it’s not in the description

Question.. So I have a 2003 Chrysler PT cruiser and a friend had hit a bump too hard and my power steering got real tight and kind of hard to turn so well I just need the belt and the power steering pump? Let me KNOW ASAP hit me on Facebook Ayo Daja
ouch could be just the belt but IDK, i'd fire the friend or make them pay for the repair, you break you buy. lol just look and see if the best is still on. make sure power steering fluid didnt leak out. IDK what you got going on
if you mean the belt inspection cover, i think i removed it a long time ago and never looked back lol. if i remember correctly its only held on with plastic push pins, maybe a few screws it's been a while.
This car was one of the best cars to me. I only paid $400 for the car and I drove it for 4 years. It was fairly reliable and it had lots of cargo space. I no longer have the car but the only reason I got rid of it was because it started overheating and I was afraid the head gasket may have been damaged.

Good work, thanks for interacting & sharing info with the community 😎👍

The 360K4 has a length of 36 3/8 and this did not work. A better choice would be K040390 which has the correct 39 5/8 length
I have a 2001 pt and been driving it since 2004 and I owe her? 17 years with a few fixes shade tree style
Wow 😎 that’s awesome 👏 I had a neon previously and it was super reliable ✅ similar FWD mopar platform actually
This guys a fucking hero. Nowhere else on the internet has info on this belt that I'm aware of and finding it was driving me insane.
thanks Joseph :) this is just for custom AC delete bypass

They don't give you much room to work with on that car good fix👍✌
thanks MEAN GENE CUSTOMS , yeah its tight. its basically a dodge neon (srt4) platform.
@@613Builds exactly what it is just like a neon

Hi I used 39.5 inch narrow belt 4 grooves I think. I pinned a previous comment with answers to the top of the comments for part numbers and length 😎👍🏽

I bypassed mine with a 39” narrow belt
Hi. The belt who make it and what is the part number please.
5040390 carquest . 390 is the 39” belt and 395 is the 39.5” belt
Do u need a 4 groove belt or a 5 groove
I believe it’s a 4 groove for that one. They have multiple belts
Were can i get that belt
realflowspitta I got mine from CarQuest. I think even another half inch shorter would also work
Hi, parts number please i have a same problem in my pt cruiser 2001
It’s a 39.5” belt with 5 but i think that a 39” would also work. 5040390 39” or 5040395 for 39.5”
@@613Builds thankyou john

@@613Builds Those part numbers cannot be found on Rock Auto but RA does have serpentine belt numbers for PT Cruisers without AC.
@@canuckfixit7722 part number xxx390 is 39” long and part xxx395 is 39.5” long . Carquest part numbers
Thanks it helps a lot!!
that's what she said
No power steering is great for upper body strength )
frig yeah, definitely. especially front drive with rack steering. it was a workout lol. similar to riding dirtbike.

I don’t see how the 5040395 worked. I tried and it was way too long. I have tried 5 belts and it is either too long or too short.
I think a (xx390) 39” belt would also work, the 39.5” belt was almost at the end of the tensioner.
i just give it the ol' up and down, in and out & side to side
Hahahahaha that's funny
@@kaitmcclean342 LOL thanks fam. "laughter is the best medicine"

Nice. Early 2000s PT. It would have been nice to see the body cover removed, though.

If you have one of these, sell it, like today.
