Hey Brian- I don't usually comment on youtube but just wanted to let you know that you are the man. Thanks for sharing your wisdom and motivating me to become a better version of myself every single day. Keep doing big things!
Started watching your videos in the beginning of January this year. It has made a HUGE positive impact on me! Thank you so much and look forward to your next video!
Great speaking skills. You just got yet another subscriber. For anyone seeing this, here's an idea: If you have negative self-talk or just non-productive self-talk, filling your mental-space with great audiobooks can serve you way better than just letting your mind wander when you aren't focused on demanding tasks. Even if you only draw a few useful ideas from any particular audiobook, NOT having your mind go in negative circles can be life-changing. For those really persistent negative thoughts...also take that as a cue that you need to change something in your life, be it dropping a relationship or getting started on a task, or whatever (the first and latter points are not mutually exclusive).
Just bought "With Winning in Mind". Headed over to amazon to grab this one right now. I'm determined to get my life on track. I really appreciate these videos Brian.
This video is AWESOME! With a lot of energy and enthusiasm as always, you conveyed the messages very coherently. The cool thing is that there are really cool TOOLS in this video, i learned a lot and i'm going to apply some. I subscribed to Philosopher's Notes a week ago and i think it's the best decision to spend money i did in the last year at least. You contribute so much value and knowledge with so much passion that it's just perfect and blissful watching it, can't think of a better person to do what you do. My entire day schedule has changed because of your work. Getting up each day in 06:30, meditating, no t.v, no t.v series, no news, limited time to websites, READING THE PN EACH MORNING.. step by step i'm removing distractions and proceeding with face forward and a bunch of tools to become the best version of myself i can be. So, really, a BIG thank you, you are the MAN!
Eitan Shteinberg Wow. Thank you for your *amazing* note, Eitan. I'm thrilled to hear about the goodness going on in your life. YES!!! And honored to play a role. Thank you for supporting me and my work. The fun has just begun. Let's do this, brother!!!! :)
I really liked the Maker's vs Manager's schedule that you talk about, in Time Blocking. As someone who juggles between a Manager's role and automation, I have faced this multiple times. Glad to know it's a universal problem and it has an interesting name too. Thanks for the video. It is very useful.
I guess the same advice for all the books you review. So many books so little time. Thank you Sir for your all your work..you have fast forward us all.
Hi Brian, I watched most your videos and thank you for being an inspiration. This reminds me of Uniqueability Concept of Dan Sullivan and Dharma from Hinduism. Thank you for the wisdom you are sharing!
The goal setting part, I loved it! It is appealing to me this "goal" thing and it is of a great value to me the way it is presented so that it can be both more effective for me and easier!
+Brian Johnson, thanks for sharing your time! I'm impressed with the ability of sinthesis that you have! About this book, It's really phenomenal! Brian Jonhson, obrigado por compartilhar seu tempo! Fico impressionado com sua capacidade de síntese. Sobre o livro, é realmente fenomenal!

One of my favorite books and this video sums it up precisely. So easy to get wrapped up in the today/tomorrow mentality and overlook the master play. Thanks Brian for putting these videos together.
Hi Brian just wanted to say a big thank for your video. There was something about the phrase "The ONE thing" that resonated with what I was seeking at time. How you show and tell those 5 big key ideas helped slot the pieces of a jigsaw together to reveal the big picture. Just got myself a copy of the book and look forward to diving deeper into the ideas - although like inside cover I`ll be sure not to follow two rabbits lol. Have a great week, David
Dav Ham Big smile and right on, Dav!! Thrilled to hear and appreciate you taking the time to share! Hope you enjoy the book as much as I did and have a great week as well!
Thanks Brian, I am so happy that you are back in action. I feel a lot of inspiration when you share. I missed the live calls we did in 2013 they really were a domino force in my life. I Love the Maker vs. Manager idea too. I have been thinking lately, how can I excel when I do not have time to think, create -MAKE. I also love the goals to NOW. The only part I am struggling to get my brain around is the Extreme 80/20. I am not clear on how to do it. I understand the concept, but I am not sure how to take it form concept to practice. I get the Goal to NOW, maybe it is just the same thing. Can you give an example?
Laura Granville Great to see you, Laura! So, with Extreme 80/20. First: find the 20% of your behavior that drives the 80% of your results. Then find the 20% of the 20%! The find the 20% of THAT 20%. Repeat till you get to the ONE thing that drives nearly all your results. That make sense?! :)
You are a really fantastic speaker and that’s inspiring! I want to get better and public speaking! I take it you have been doing it a long time. I got this book after seeing your review and just can’t wrap my head around the concept of being this outcome-driven because I tend to over plan and over analyze. I prefer a process oriented approach so that I can see immediate rewards. I recommend the book “Fail Fast, Fail Often” instead. It has great success stories to serve as role models like how Gary Erickson came up with Cliff Bars by enjoying life riding his bike and how Jack Dorsey came up with Twitter and Fourspace. Impressed by your reading list and productivity too, Brian!

Brain I was wondering how long did it take you to get through the book the one thing and second I was curious on how you arrived at your big ideas. I really enjoy your take aways from the book and they are obviously right on but I was curious if you when going through the book have a routine on what to look for specifically. The reason why I ask is because there were many things you did not address which I like but was just wondering how you chose those 5 to drill down on ? What made you pass on the path to two great answers and the success Habit ect that are found in the book. My problem is Im focusing on everything in the book instead of doing what you do and brining it into a more narrow focus and Im looking to learn how I can do that as well. Blessings
Awesome talk Brian. I know what the one "someday" goal is. But the someday goal requires a few goals that seem unrelated to each other and have almost equal contributions to the someday goal. For example: get rich, be confident, etc. How can I select the 5 year goals out of these unrelated goals? Thanks a lot!
Hey, towards the end of the video you said "there's more in the philosophers note" but where is it? I can't find it anywhere in the philosophers notes on your website...
+Brian Johnson thanks for response. i was wondering if you can do the same for "the richest man in babylon" it is my favorate book too and was hoping you can jampack the idea into one small video like this. you explain materials so well and i personally love the way you do it. excited. thank you. :)
Peter Nakamura Got it. Well, the idea is to have "coherence" among your goals. The easiest way to approach it is to take your 1 year and just extrapolate it out to 5 + long-term. That make sense/is it helpful?!
***** Hey man, that makes sense. It's just a little difficult to come up with that "one thing" when you have various buckets like career, family, finances, health, etc. But I suppose that's all part of the "one thing" approach?
Peter Nakamura Yes! And, I like to have "one thing" for my creative/professional (and therefore financial life) and one thing for my personal life. For me, that's 250 Notes in 2015 (1,000 in 2020) creatively. And personally, it's an hour a day with my son--which drives my relationship with both him and my wife! :)
Brian! great explanation. I wonder if you'd like to consider going pro representing The ONE Thing Certified Workshop? Let me know I'd like to meet you either way. Great video. You could help a lot of people.

Brian Johnson is great. Loved it because YOU made it easy to understand, fun & got on with it....ive subbed you.. Is it still worth buying the book now?.:-)
rpvespa Thank you so much!! I appreciate your kind words and support. And, YES! I think the book is definitely worth reading in full. I can only barely scratch the surface of these great books and I'm excited for you to dive in deeper if you're inspired to do so. If you liked this video I have no doubt you'll get a ton out of the book! :)
Nice summary. Sounds great. However, I think the 'goal now' step needs to be supplemented with the notion of flexibility. I hasten to add that I'm not talking about flexibility with your 'Someday goal'. I am talking about flexibility with the 'means' to this end. Gary seems to advocate a path that is too rigid. Now this would be fine if our circumstances and opportunities remained the same but the reality is that sometimes obstacles get in the way and sometimes new opportunities present themselves. So, if we take our monthly goal for example, it might help me to reach my 'someday goal' - sometimes. However, if I had had a bad accident or won a lot of money these new circumstances may mean that there are now better ways of reaching my 'Someday goal' than that suggested by my 'monthly goal'. Today's world is very dynamic and we need to be able to adapt. However, I concur with the notion of always aiming for your 'someday goal' and making sure your daily activities are taking you in that direction. Thanks.
I'm glad i found tie excellent channel thanks to a fella named "Christopher G" on an Amazon book review of this book. He recommended us go check out your review because this book was horrible. 'It's beyond unfortunate, because the question is a great formulation, for gaining focus and clearing the bottleneck that most of us are limited by. You just won't gain anything from the book.' Personally, i thought there were alot of amazing things in it and loved it. Thanks

How would you go about finding your big "someday" goal if you're still not sure what that is?
Peter Nakamura Hey Peter: Quick q: Do you have a sense of your One Thing for 1 or 5 years?!
I have a sense for my 1 year goal but not a 5 year goal.

You just won't gain anything from the book.'
Personally, i thought there were alot of amazing things in it and loved it.
Thanks

Please give concrete examples of the 80/20 rule followed by the 80/20 rule again. I'm and employee not an entrepreneur so I'm looking to apply that in my personal and professional life. This rule is so well known so I'm looking for some uncommon knowledge that can apply to anyone.
