Can I just say how much I LOVE the way your first concern is always for the horse. Third refusal, elimination -- no worries, horse gets a pat and reassurance, no questions asked. Sadly, this is not something one can take for granted in the equestrian world. Elisa, any horse that ends up in your stable has absolutely won the lottery! And regardless of the outcome that was an awesome run. Some of those fences looked absolutely heart-stopping and both you and Lee are awesome athletes for getting as far as you did with both front shoes gone.
@@elizabethl581 I was at #13, the Hollow, and they looked great over A and B. The run out at C was unexpected and I'm not sure what happened (I was not in the driver's seat).
@eml Eventing. Sorry you feel that way. Hindsight is always 20/20. I agree I could pulled up after 22 before the Normandy bank. I got him to a distance that was on the decrease. He gave me a great feeling at the head of the lake. But I didn’t give him the best distance at the Normandy either. He is a horse that has to have grip to jump. And I thought i could help whim with a better distance. I didn’t realize he pulled both fronts until i felt him slide at the end. But I do the best I can and yes I do make mistakes.

She is a breath of fresh air, especially after watching riders like Oliver Townend…. I have had a bad taste in my mouth for cross country for a long time bc I’ve seen so many cross country riders who care more about winning than about their horses, who view their horses as machines, who put their horses in dangerous situations and punish them for mistakes that aren’t even their fault. Thank you for showing us your perspective on these rides, it means a lot more to some than you may realize❤️ I wish my dysautonomia didn’t ruin my chances at eventing. I can’t do jumpers anymore because any adrenaline makes me pass out, I lost all my stamina due to exercise and heat intolerance, and don’t think I can show anymore due to the heat intolerance (unless it’s a winter show and/or they make medical exceptions to not wear a show coat). Your videos let some of us continue our love of riding, even if we can’t be on a horse for medical reasons
I agree with this fully. And even though I don't deal with what you do, I still relate to this in a way. Many years ago I fell from a same horse twice on two separate days. I was still a very inexperienced rider. Not to point any fingers at the teacher I had or anything, but I was allowed to sit down after both times and watch when the teacher's daughter got on the horse instead. No one said that I should get back in the saddle. Although I did ride again. They gave me a calmer, more experienced horse for the next times. I pat myself in the back for going for it, even though I already felt the sneaking fear at that point. I never got thrown off again, but I couldn't relax like before. Some years after that I got diagnosed with arthritis. That and the old fear combined pretty much brought my riding hobby to a screeching halt once and for all. I still wish I could ride again despite knowing I wouldn't even be able to get in the saddle again without a huge effort and discomfort. But I never stopped loving horses. In fact I love them more than ever. And to continue living my old dream through these videos means a whole lot to me. I imagine myself being more fearless than I am. I can still be near horses in a way. It's one of the many reasons why I play games like Red Dead Redemption 2, which, while isn't a horse game, has horses in it and I honestly care for them like they're real. I'm rambling at this point, but I'm just real thankful to Elisa for posting these videos.
@@DuckkisI am too poor to ride so in addition to videos like this, I also play games like Red Dead Redemption 1 & 2 for the horse experience. Breath of the wild and shadow of the colossus are also great for getting some of that horsey feeling, if you don't have those already.
I’m so proud of you both!!! There was so many new things, the huge crowd and throwing two front shoes! He really did his best and learned so much! Growth is not linear! I’m so looking forward to watching more from you both!

Aww wow what a couple of heroes you both are!! No front shoes and still jumping. Such a tough looking course too. Massive difference in crowd noise and other distractions everywhere, so glad you’re both safe. Smart Lee Lee to realise he couldn’t go for it with no front shoes 🙈 Thank you for showing it all and the discussion about the shoes at the end. So privileged to get to ride along with you like this. Started watching you way back with fledge the mustang and I was hooked on your videos. ❤️
Elisa, as an amateur Eventer you have given me so much inspiration and encouragement. From the sidelines, these horses all make it look easy, when we all know it's not, especially without front shoes 🫣 I cannot explain how helpful it is to see your "behind the scenes" footage of you discussing your run, communicating with your horse during the ride, and how you handle the disappointment that is inevitable in this sport. You ride masterfully and I can't wait to see you continue his education. So glad you two are healthy and stayed safe.
Moments like this make me respect you and Lee even more than I already do! Lee is such a good boy for trying his best even without front shoes! What a wonderful display of horsemanship as well
Lee was amazing considering it was his first 5*, his first exposure to so much atmosphere, crowd etc, and no front shoe from fence 4, then losing the second front later! Very well ridden by you, and well sat through the tough bits. I’m sure it wasn’t the result you’d hoped for, but a great educational round and hopefully it won’t shake Lee’s confidence. Looking forward to seeing you both boss the next 5* together 😊
Look at him do all those corners so confidently!! I saw him slide into the duck jump on the livestream- now it makes sense since he lost two front shoes! Definitely seemed like a slide and not a “no”.
Thank you for sharing your journey. What a very hard day! Although the crowd was trying to be so nice, it can be difficult to manage disappointment in the moment while other's are in such a different head space. Very well handled. Looking forward to seeing him back in top form next year!
What a great team you and Lee are!!! Your dressage was beautiful and he did the best he could cross country thanks to your support and skillful riding. Super experience for him - we are all very proud of you both😀🐴

What a big hearted horse!!! All the people reminded me of all the people lined up on both sides at the match races, very much the same. You rode so magnificently. Bravo!
I was at the head of the lake and when I heard what happened I was crushed but immediately told my friend that you were probably still so proud of him! Watching it from your angle makes it so much better! Fantastic riding!!!
I am so inspired by your horsemanship- I hope someday to be half of the horsewoman that you are. I can't wait to see you and Lee absolutely kill it next year.
Wow, so much heart from Lee given the crowd and then the shoes. Great job keeping it positive and a forward learning experience despite what must have been understandable disappointment. Learn, Lee, learn. Onwards and upwards for the next time!
I'm grateful that he is careful and sensible enough to refuse a jump when he knows he can't get purchase rather than taking the chance and potentially falling. He was a good boy to tell you something wasn't right. Kentucky is gruelling even when everything goes right, so definitely can't be upset with yourself for anything. It's a huge test and you both came away safe which is all that really matters. You were right on the money, both did your best and as others have said, it's lovely to see a rider prioritise their horse and reassure them at this level. Well done & best of luck for the next one!
Really well done, I love watching your videos especially with Lee. Just riding along with you it was clear he wasn't as forward as normal. I can't imagine the bravery to go into those big fences when you're horse isn't feeling himself. Such a different atmosphere with all those people and the cheering. I'm glad it ended safely for both of you; sorry it didn't turn out better.

And to be honest, as an introvert, I was hating the crowd!!! 😂😂😂😅 Good job Lee… you did so well with no front shoes and your first try! Grateful he stopped at those jumps.. he was like “ no Mom.. if I jump those we may get hurt 😞 “
It makes me feel more confident seeing that even the best riders and best horses sometimes don’t have good days and it’s okay to have bad days, we move forward. ❤️

Lee acted so well even when being spooked by people! He was such a good boy! Those conditions can really be harsh on any horse but you proved that wrong!💕✨
You both did so well despite Lee being shaken by the crowd AND him losing both front shoes. For his first 5* this was quite great❤️ The refusals were a shame, but surely next time will go better.

I have it too! I haven’t even been able to ride anymore. Sold my horse. Watching these videos gives me a sense of riding along.
@@DuckkisI am too poor to ride so in addition to videos like this, I also play games like Red Dead Redemption 1 & 2 for the horse experience. Breath of the wild and shadow of the colossus are also great for getting some of that horsey feeling, if you don't have those already.
My heart was in my throat for both of you, & I got choked up for Lee. You are such an understanding rider! Much love to you!!
Bravery done Elisa and Lee! So glad you are both safe and can fight on another day!
I’m so proud of you both!!! There was so many new things, the huge crowd and throwing two front shoes! He really did his best and learned so much! Growth is not linear! I’m so looking forward to watching more from you both!
Lee tried so hard for you! I’m glad he has you for a partner, and that you both got home safe.
Proud of you both. There will be a next time. He reminded me of my grandson at the circus looking at everything scared to death but still wanting to try to go on.
It’s so amazing watching Lee run around! He did amazing in the 5*! ESPECIALLY FOR LOOSING BOTH SHOES!!
You gave Lee an amazing, supportive and wonderful ride. Thank you for being an amazing horsewoman. Lee is an incredible horse. Your candor after you retired is educational and refreshing. I learn so much from every video you post. An outstanding ride!
Aww wow what a couple of heroes you both are!! No front shoes and still jumping. Such a tough looking course too. Massive difference in crowd noise and other distractions everywhere, so glad you’re both safe. Smart Lee Lee to realise he couldn’t go for it with no front shoes 🙈
Thank you for showing it all and the discussion about the shoes at the end.
Beautiful video. Your relationship with Lee is really inspiring, how it should always be. Loved the apology after the run-out
Lee is amazing he did part of the Kentucky 5* without front shoes! What guy!!! Go Leeroy!!!!! Im cheering on you buddy
Moments like this make me respect you and Lee even more than I already do! Lee is such a good boy for trying his best even without front shoes! What a wonderful display of horsemanship as well
Those jumps scared me! I can't imagine actually tackling them. Good job taking the ride in such a positive way. It is all grist for the mill.
Super experience for him - we are all very proud of you both😀🐴
I love that even tho use this was a rough course and new experience that you kept your calm and showed that everyone has these kinds of shows and now every show is for winning!
That was nerve wracking watching this round!! So glad you and him are okay
💙✨ (Always get chills watching these not fear- just genuinely proud of you and the partnership with All the horses. ) You are Amazing! He really went out there, put on his big boy pants and handled business like a Pro🙌💪 I love his huge heart so much! Great job, and be proud of yourself. Wishing you safe travels and a GOOD night sleep! Well done!😎💙
Way to go! Our sport takes grit and you were both shining examples of that! Thanks for posting this
So very proud of both of you! Lee was doing so well and I just love how encouraging you are to Lee and all of your horses. Better luck next year!!!!!!
I'm not one to get overly emotional, but I had to stop the video to comment that I'm completely in tears over how proud I am of you and Lee! You both are such amazing competitors and class acts!
What a good boy! I love how encouraging and supportive an American crowd is. Beautiful horsemanship, well done.
Some of those jumps look insanely big! I'm intimidated by them and I'm just watching. Good job Elisa and Lee. What a brave horse.
That was the best thing I've seen on RUclips all year!! It was a roller-coaster of emotions! O was on the edge of my seat!! I'm so glad that 1) you both made it safe and sound and 2) that you took it all in stride. Next year will be even more amazing for you 2! ❤️
Watching this is better than the Kentucky Derby any day!
Oh Wow what a good ride with 2 missing shoes! Good job both of you!!!
Sorry for you both that you didn't finish. What an amazing job without front shoes and a very big crowd! Be very proud of yourself and Lee! Up to next year and a year of extra experience!
You are a wonderful example of great horsemanship! Can't wait to see what you and Lee (and the rest of your amazing horses) do in the future!
You are such and amazing Team. Thank you for you/ the owners and your support team yall all are amazing. LeeLee will have his day with you on board and the experiences you are gaining WILL Pay off. THank you for sharing your journey
You both did so well!! I wish the result could've been better but I'm glad that both of you are safe! Lee kept you both safe by knowing what he could and couldn't jump without shoes. He was so brave with the crowds, and your amazing horsemanship clearly helped him push on! It's a shame what happened but you guys still did amazing!!
I love how positive you were about this experience! That was a hard course-I was at the head of the lake where you made that awesome save!!! You both did absolutely amazing!
We love Lee! He’ll ace it next time. Glad everyone is safe.
I LOVE that you put his needs first. You're the Best. 🖤
Congratulations you trained so hard for this you did so well you and your animals all deserve this
Lee acted so well even when being spooked by people! He was such a good boy! Those conditions can really be harsh on any horse but you proved that wrong!💕✨
So proud of the effort both of you put in! He's a winner all day! Awesome education for him. You'll be back again next year! xoxo
You made it there and that’s a awesome achievement in itself, those jumps were huge!!
Proud of you and Let It Be. Quite an intimidating course.
You both did so well despite Lee being shaken by the crowd AND him losing both front shoes. For his first 5* this was quite great❤️ The refusals were a shame, but surely next time will go better.
you're fantastic, what a great job! So wonderful to watch this from your perspective. What a good boy he was!
I’ve been waiting for this!!
The stamina required for this is amazing. Both horse and rider are awesome 😎
I love how supportive everyone is
Great attempt at 5* XC course! Awesome experience for Lee. His dressage test was amazing🏇
Who gets Lucinda Greene to come check on them right after? Only a superstar team like you two! I just love how from the start you could feel him worried about the atmosphere and you never wavered on him. Stayed positive and supportive the whole way through and never stopped fighting. He tried his best. Until next time ❤️❤️❤️
Y'all were amazing !!! I was scared just watching.... cant imagine doing that. Well done !!!
I’m exhausted and stressed out just watching this. Amazing horsemanship and horse!
Tough day on a tough course but I love how you stayed cool, calm and collected and set a great example for us all. Thanks for posting. I appreciate that you take us along for the highs AND the lows. Hope you recovered Lee's shoes. Go get'em at TIEC.
