Speedrun world record for :
- introducing a character in the setting
- giving us some backstory elements and stakes for that character
- making us care about that character
- telling a story about that character, including closure and some worldbuilding
- making it yet another bad day for rain
All that in FOUR effin' minutes
The movie UP might contain a challenge to that record. The only thing it might lack is rain. I don't clearly remember.
The sad part is even after all of this, Biotechnica is still thriving in 2077...
That's because Biotechnica was and is still essential for the overall establishment of the greater healthcare system in Night City as well as having taken part in the development of alternative fuel used everywhere called CHOOH2, you can't just derail an entire company because of a single scandal where unsurprisingly one of their pharmaceutical product is actually clinically flawed when other corporations in Night City has done worse than doing live clinical trials on their consumers and getting away with it
It’s just reality, no matter what a company does it will be overlooked if they are essential enough
I feel like that's the nature of cyberpunk. No matter how much a person rebels against these megacorps, they will never be nothing more than a splash in the grand scheme of things. Johnny detonated a nuclear warhead in the heart of Night City, levelling the Arasaka tower. In the end it caused more harm to the citizens than Arasaka, who eventually rebuilt everything like it never happened. At best, someone at Biotechnica got fired over this as damage control, which is the best one can hope for really.
@@Porakki that's why I love the cyberpunk genre, It gives me indescribable vibes, it's so melancholy and you never get a happy ending in Night City, best you can hope for is a bittersweet one.
The oldest rule of Cyberpunk: "You can't save the world, but you can always save yourself." Sasha decided to give herself to try and save the world, but the world of Cyberpunk is incorrigible; unchangeable. In the end, she just threw her life away.
"I dont gonna cry" 2 seconds later "Buahaaaaaa buahaaaaaaa" only you alicia 😂
The subtle detail that I always loved about this animation was at the very end, how you can see Maine's hands shaking slightly. He's holding it together, and you can tell from his curled up fists that he's as angry as anything else... but Sasha's death really affected him. Maine may have ultimately lost his battle with his cyber addiction, but he truly was a good man that cared about his people.
If anything, Sasha dying might've contributed to his need for more Chrome, stronger implants, so he won't lose anyone under his command ever again. Combined with the fact that Sasha's death opened up a spot on the team for Kiwi, who in turn recruited Lucy, and you can tie a good portion of the series back to the events of this one >5 minute MV.
Ok yea. You're absolutely incredibly underrated. Your breakdown was so surgically precise that if I was a cinematography / animation or any related field teacher, I would definitely make my class watch this.
You deserve to be WAY more well known.
And damn you, I didn't cry when I first watched this MV, but in your shot for shot breakdown you broke me down as well.
Holy smokes this comment means so much to me. It feel amazing to be able to nerd out and share my passion with others. Thank you for taking the time to say something so kind :3 ahhh
@@aliciaxlife And it's awesome to hear you nerd out! I never thought a reaction could end up being so insightful haha
I never felt like subbing due to a reaction based content because there wouldn't be much more outside of the particular emotion aspect towards something I enjoyed, but then you hit me with loads of knowledge that made me enjoy said thing much more. Sub 100% earned, I can watch you nerd out about something I've never heard about if it comes with that commentary.
TO THE TOP OF ARasa... ...THE PLATFORM!
Please don't take David's approach to the climb.
I second it
Need more of the nerding out
5 minutes...
I only knew her for 5 minutes and they made me care for her like nothing could!!
Really great analysis. Two things you missed though that I think maybe you'd enjoy having pointed out.
The kaleidoscope is a metaphor for Night City itself. All the dazzling lights hide something more sinister underneath, and just like young Sasha was mesmerized by the kaleidoscope, the adult Sasha at the start of the video is mesmerized by the kaleidoscope of Night City. However, the mesmerization drops when the bubble pops. Because that is what happens--when Sasha opens the confidential file, you can see the button overlayed in front of her face in the spot and shape of the bubblegum she's been blowing. Then she pushes the button, the bubble pops and the kaleidoscope falls apart.
One thing a lot of people miss is the shot of her going through the window is a clear reference to ghost in the shell , they really paid a lot of homage to the classics of the genre in both the game and the anime
^^ I’ve never seen ghost in the shell
@@aliciaxlife really?? You should def check it out!! Both the first movie and the show “stand alone complex” would be great content for the channel! The soundtrack for the show was done by the same lady that composed the cowboy bebop soundtrack, she’s a legend! There’s actually quite a few ghost in the shell Easter eggs in the game too. Hope you’re feeling better btw!! 🥺
Oh yeah and when I say “movie” I mean the original animated 1995 movie not that live action one from a few years ago lol
@@aliciaxlife Definitely watch the 1995 original. not the director's cut--the original. You'd have a field day with it and that's definitely a reaction I'd watch.
Also Sasha does look like Motoko Kusanagi. The main Protagonist of Ghost in the Shell
"In other news, the share price of Biotechnica dropped 0.4% in the wake of Securicine scandal, and for N54 network's Week's Grisliest Murders, a new record in view count so far..."
You’re so unique its amazing. You have insane attention to detail but you’re also entertaining and emotional its so cute.
:D AHHH OMG that is so sweet of you to say. Thank you for such a kind comment!
I think the reason that Lucy doesn't like dive suits or chairs is because she was forced to be in them by Arasaka before she escaped.
Yup that was confirmed in the anime ^^
This anime reminded of something I felt back when I was first learning to play the tabletop back in the early 00s in college. Cyberpunk, both the genre at large and the IP in specific, makes for a heck of a backdrop to tell tragedies. Not just sad stories, but full on classical ancient-Greek style tragedy; fate and destiny are swapped out for the oppressive, omnipresent boot-heel of capitalism dictating your future before you're ever born, and your downfall stems directly from trying to fight that predetermination.
What's even more heartbreaking is, if you do the Corpo Lifepath, you learn from an NPC that Biotechnica has a "squeaky clean reputation. Like we run orphanages clean." Just let that sink in
yep, they do just enough net positive things that anything bad they might do is completely swept off
this is relatively small in comparison to what other corps do as well, so it's.. literally nothing to people that find out about it
Yup, we get to see the ugly truth of night city via the point of view of the characters we follow. However, the average citizen that just lives there won't know and will probably consider selling an organ or two for a quick cash grab.
Great analysis! I saw the kaleidoscope as a symbol of innocence as well, but I thought it was more a representation of Night City itself and young Sasha's perspective of it. Check out the frame in 22:11 of your Edgerunners E10 reaction video (the one where David gets shot by Adam Smasher and the camera pans out to a bird's eye view of the central district in NC). It's shaped like an iris, but beneath the pretty lights and glamor, in the center of the dark "pupil", is the "truth" of NC - a bloodstain of broken dreams. Same as the ED, the kaleidoscope frames a happy, dancing Sasha - outwardly living the life in NC, but who is truly hurting underneath. Glad that you enjoyed the ED (and the show) as much as you did!
Genuinely, you should never apologize for being so caring that you can be brought to tears over the tragedy of a character that you just met.
I absolutely get you crying hun! I get teary-eyed everytime i watch this music video too!
If you listen to the lyrics thinking of it like a message from David to Lucy it hits even harder
Ep 1 is called let you down, so David to his mum works too
It also works for Maine and Lucy
Maine for failing to rescue Sasha we know this since he is not heavily chromed here yet but in Edgerunners he is jacked with so much chrome he went Cyberpsycho he probably blamed himself for her death.
Lucy for failing to save David from the city if she was stronger she believed she could have escaped with him to the moon but she failed.
Then you relate the music to you life and you fall into depression..
Dude this is prety much the essence of Night City. You can do whatever you want, but nothing changes. It is just like Johnny Silverhand said "For folks like us? Wrong city, wrong people". THe only way to survive Night city is to get out. If you try to survive there, the city will just swallow you up. Even when you do become a legend nothing changes. THe city just moves on waiting for the next legend to show up.
Biotechnica had to pay out rather massive fines if I recall, but you know what they say.... punishable by fine, legal for the rich. Which pretty much exemplify the world of Cyberpunk 2077. If the megacorps get caught doing something shady, all they have to do is pay some fines.
Sasha didn't care about them being punished would be my guess. She cared about preventing someone else from losing their family member. If they had to pay fines, then the drug itself was at least temporarily pulled and reformulated, which means she saved lives, and I'm sure she cares more about that.
There are no happy endings in Night City.
Thank you for breaking my heart again.
Five minutes is all it took, to make me cry all over again.
I have watched Naruto for over a decade and haven't been impacted by some of the characters as much as five minutes with Sasha impacted me.
"In the end, you see Maine's hand shaking. He think he's failed again.
Sasha passes with a serene smile on her face. She believed she had avenged her mom."
Yay you covered this song! Aaaaaand you've made me cry again lol. God I love this sad, somber song. Thank you.
I came across ur channel the other day… lets say ill be sticking around because ur content is top tier and love ur reactions too stuff
:D omg thank you for such a nice compliment and welcome to the channel
I love your reactions, because you're discerning, pay attention, and don't just talk through the video missing important plot points. Like others, then they complain about not understanding things later on.
English is your 3rd language?!?!? WTF I thought you're a native!
Also I've never realized how perfectly are the lyrics synced with the video.
I really appreciate your breakdown!
Even the "Sorry for letting you down, I was not strong enough" showing images of her a child....how can you be strong enough as a child and what can you do to solve such a problem, but you can certainly feel like a let down and not strong enough. All of that in a few word and a few images
Yeah! Haha my reading is a little rough a lot of the time but I’m glad my English flows well :D thank you for the sweet compliment
I really like that you read everything and pick up all the context. Great video!
Once again, glad to watch your thorough analysis of the video as a whole. Ace!
Makes a lot of sense that Maine wanted the Sandevistan after this. It must've fucked him up to lose a teammate like that, even though it was in a blaze of glory.
Cyberpunk; you love it so much but makes you crash and cry at the end every single time.
Woah, impressive AMV. If it wasn't for your reaction video I would've never known this existed.
Man, again I love your deep dives ❤. As all those things you say speak to me as well as a former film student. Creepily fun thing though that just happened: After I was done enjoying this analysis/reaction I looked up my feed and saw that one of the illustrators/producers/designers Illya Kuvshinov posted a thank you for 20 million views for the music video!
The timing on that was shockingly incredible 😀
Only time a reaction was so good it had me grinning. Btw you didnt put that example of the yelling in tune with the music you mentioned, that always gives me chills and id like to see it too
Bring some tissues this time...
There will be crying involved.
I had a good feeling about your reaction to this. I said there'd be plenty to pick apart from the combination of music and video
I love the way the lyrics are almost like her eulogy or reply to Maine
The thing is with this whole story is that Sasha died needlessly. That information won’t bring down the company, nor will it get the product pulled. People like Sasha’s mother will still suffer and die from the side effects. The Corpos still win in the end
Ain't that the piss poor truth.
Well true, but you can either accept this and become a corpo slave or choose to fight it even if deep down you know you'll lose and become a cyberPUNK
I think she knew that as well, but she still gave it a shot anyway , so at least she could die without regrets.
While this is true if even one person hears that report and decides not to take the pills she saved a life. If 10 people do, 10 lives. Gotta count the small victories in Night City because total victories over the Corpos aren't in our reach. The best you can hope to do is wing them a bit and make sure people remember you.
What makes you think the product didn't get pulled? Even if it forces them to do a quick reformulation and fix this one flaw, it's still 100% worth it if someone's doctor reads the report, or they do, and they find alternative treatments that don't decay their mind. Even if it prevents 1 child from going what she went through and losing their parent to it, I'm sure she cares as much about that as any kind of revenge and punishment for Biotechnica.
Well to add on the sad lol
As you know this is years before the game and Biotechnica still thriving. I don't recall that medicine ever being mentioned tho so its safe to say she probably helped yoink it off the market so she can be in peace knowing that. However if you can jump through supplement regulated hoops one time its not hard to do it twice
This is what i was expecting from edge runners , nothing in that show made me feel like this , this actually had me crying , and i felt nothing while watching the show itself.
I think the only thing you missed, is if you pay close attention at the end, Maine's hand clenches up and is shaking as he stands beside her smiling form. So probably around the time when his mental health was deteriorating.
I've seen so many reactors miss that it's young and old Sasha. Miss that she is literally comforting her child self with the hug in the end. Guess that means I have to subscribe and check some of your other videos out.
i cant watch you edgerunners reaction because i dont want to cry again.
this already made me teary
A small note; the company isn't Arasaka, but another megacorp by the name of Biotechnica! The two aren't connected, but Biotechnica is responsible for just as much evil, one of which is highlighted in the plot of this video; they made an incredibly strong painkiller, Securicine, that Sasha's mother was using [specific usage reason isn't known]. Sasha thought her mother died in the hospital due to illness, when in reality, the Securicine causes neurodegeneration [degeneration of the nervous system, neurons in the brain primarily] which lead to her mother deteriorating and dying from use.
The only reason Biotechnica didn't pull the product from the market, was because its usage as a painkiller made it lucrative for the company; they didn't care if people died from it, because nobody would know it was due to the medication if they simply never told them the side effects.
Haii just wanted to address that quickly so on the screen there is the arasaka report tab which is why I mentioned that. :) it’s on the second report window when she hacked in
@@aliciaxlife oh damn, I missed that! My apologies!
You might have missed the rain landing on her eye like a tear.
Of course everything in the game is also something you potentially see in the anime as well SO MEGA PROPS TO THE DEVELOPERS 🙌
i want this played at my funeral, its so good
Don't be sorry, from what I've seen of you, the hyper rationalization, thinking and explanation through analogies, you're probably on the gifted spectrum. Hyper empathy is also part of the package deal of that neurodivergence, we feel much more connected to others than neuronormatif people, their pain is our pain quite litterally. There is NO SHAME in feeling emotions like that, if anything it just shows you care about others, be proud.
😱 I just finished Edgerunner. That was amazing 😂
Enough to hear just the first two tones, and bamm. This music always hit me...harder than the "really want to stay at your house", with or without any video. Regardless to this i always watch the end titles.
while I enjoy the breakdowns I can't help but feel that she's seen these videos before and is acting that it's her first time seeing it because she has like 200 IQ detailed breakdowns of every single shot like she she's watched the videos several times over and has collected her thoughts into a well composed analysis... it's hard to believe she's doing this all on the fly. She did it for edgerunners as well so she's either a freaking 10 head 200 IQ genius or this is rehearsed to a degree.
^^ I do it live. I mean if you want to know about about me I got you!
I studied psychology, went to film school, skipped two grades as a kid. Was nominated for top female commentator in 2019. Have an amazon prime documentary about my life and my intellect when it came to rising in the industry of analytic commentary. :3 it’s okay to doubt things you see, but I’m the real deal, haha
"Whats with all these dead moms?!?"
THATS WHAT IM SAYIN
Well, I hope that this is enough to convince you to play the Cyberpunk 2077.
Despite the fame it got from the countless bugs and errors, the story is actually really good.
Also, the DLC "Phantom Liberty" is coming soon, so even more the reason to try it out.
The scene where she's yelling at the same time the vocals in the song are yelling is something that Arcane did in that TV series as well. Also I can't remember if you've watched Arcane on this channel but you should
Lol you teach me more than my media teacher
Ah good my daily dose of watching Alicia cry
Don't cry, Sasha so happy..😊
This show lives in my head rent free
Hey Alicia, there is also a slightly different version of this animated music video. It has few more details and things in it. But if you'd have reacted to that version you'd probably have to blur a scene as it wasn't safe for YT in the first place i think. It was posted by Netflix Geeked if you'd want to take a look at it.
Why would you hurt me like this man? I don’t even know you. T_T INCREASE IN AGGRESSION AND PARANOIA. Damn man, thanks for pointing this out.
I just realized 1 to 1 lyrics and it became masterpiece^2 for me...... 😭
You're killing these breakdowns!
Not only is Sasha there before Lucy, I think she was thier netrunner before Kiwi.
I watched this video before I seen the show & coming back & seeing it again (after I watched the show) just makes it that much harder to watch.
Can't wait to see you play 2077 tomorrow. Are you gonna be a corpo, street kid or nomad? Nomad & corpo are the most interesting starts imo.
Quick question....do you plan on doing more reaction content to shows/movies beside anime?
Thanks for the reaction
I'm commenting again cause I watched it again lol. But things I noticed, Sasha may have gotten Biotechnika (sp?) To pull the drug off the market, but the megacorp still stands in 2077. She won a battle, but didn't change the war.
You are not wrong at the moment that Sasha walked out of the first building.... The neon signs in the background are same as the scene that Lucy and David were talking by "that" fence... 🤓
Friggin bonkers that you noticed that
I watched your other reaction to the music video called take me to the moon and I compared the road that Lucy and David were fighting next to... Surprisingly the surroundings of the roads are the EXACT SAME to the one Sasha was on. AND ALL OF THE NEON SIGNS ARE THE SAME!🤘🔥😎
And the beginning also shows a building that you see In the anime itself.... If you look at the music video Sasha leaves a bar called "Afterlife" 🧐
Nice analysis, just a note I believe a major difference with net running in a ice bath vs on a chair is based on deep the dive needs to be, thing about water cooling a pc to run higher frequencies to get better performance.
Just when you thought you were done crying about Edgerunners.
5:15 I've watched the video a bunch of times and never noticed that before.
looking forward to tomorrow!
See, as much as Alica was saying no no no. I was saying yes yes yes. There are some things worth dying for. Did she take down Biotechnica? No. But she likely saved some lives, hurt their bottom line and made sure there won't be as many girls like her that have to watch their family die. That's why she has a smile. That's why I say yes. Its hard and painful and worth every bit.
Netrunners are such powerful people in the world of cyberpunk. It's just unfortunate that they mostly meet tragic ends.
Some Netrunners end up as tools till broken
It's a double edged sword, netrunners are incredibly powerful and at the same time the most physically vulnerable
People here saying that she died for nothing because revealing the truth won't bring down the company. I don't think that was her intentions. I think she did that in hopes that the news would force the company to pull that product from shelves, so no more people have to die because of the side effects like her mother did.
18:22 They actually did that for maines death at the end of 6
edgerunners gets us babe.
You will come there, cause its City of dreams, but in the end it will take everything from you...
YOU GOTTA WATCH RANKING OF KINGS!
You can actually put together a version of Sasha's outfit in game.
Wow you speak 3 languages? I am jealous, I have struggled to learn english as my second language when I was a teenager even if I consider it to be pretty good right now. Your skills are impressive as I was so sure it was your first one, you speak it so well, I am dying to know what are your other two? (feel no pressure to respond If you do not wish to, you are probably busy and I know you cannot answer every individual comments).
YO THE AFTERLIFE BAR IS IN CYBERPUNK 2077!!
To recover from this Toho animation just put out a SpyxFamily music video that is litteraly just the cutest most wholesome thing ever
English is your THIRND language?!? I legit took you for a native speaker.
Biotechnica, Militech, Arasaka, are different big companies, but all are corpos.
Well it started technical but ended in just a breakdown of sorts.
I hope you react this and now look! Yod did it! lol
2:33 the song writer has posters in the clip xD
Meanwhile 12 episode series can't created interesting histories and characters
I blame Disney for the Dead Moms thing 😅
At 3:45 in the video that where David fights Adam Smasher 😢😢😢
The corp is Biotechnica for this one actually not Arasaka.. haha though all corps SUCK in night city.
On the screen you can see it say Arakasa as one of the report button options. Which is why the drunk was relation to both companies which is why I said both :3
I still highly recommend you check out the song Never Enough by Divide music for this show
She looks like a grown Himawari
Hey question idk if u play overwatch but i was wondering if u could react too the new kiriko animation that just dropped today
他们不能不停地播放一个视频超过十万次吗?
Ok
pain.exe
No one tell Alicia that its possible Arasaka downloaded David's brain and he could exist as a cyber being.
The Opening and Ending of Cyberpunk Edgerunner spoiled what would happen to David and Lucy after episode 10.
Uff i will never be a fan of thoes kind of reaction channels.
Ohh is this Cyberpunk "cyberpunk"? The game where idgaf and did absolutely nothing on the right side of the law 🤣🤣 haaa good times lol I clocked it with a broken body count cause I went gung ho on every mission and killed everyone 😂 even kill the fighters after I win lmao
Hellyea
For those interested: the characters design, storyboards and direction for this MV was all done by @Kuvshinov_Ilya an absolutely amazing artist
In the game I think you find a referrence to this leak she makes, not 100% sure, could just be a different biotechnica leak.
