I’ve had pro tools for almost a year, and I’m just now getting set up! This has been a huge help. I’ve been using Reason for many years, and all of a sudden I can no longer log into it. Only video thats EVER helped me get the frustration of setup. Seriously, how would a amateur EVER learn all this without this content. That being said, I"m stuck after set up with no actual wave recording. Monitor is responding when I arm a track, but nothing actually records. Thanks in advance if you can help.

I have been using FL Studio instead because it was much more intuitive for me at the time, but I really want to master a daw like pro tools u can be really efficient there.

This is definitely not a Daw set up, these are things to know when you’re going to record.

I’m rly late here, but rly appreciate the tips, I’m brand new to using pro tools. But I set up all the tracks through the vocal bus the way you had it and it recognized I was recording but wouldn’t play it back. When I changed the output of the recording tracks to just my normal output, it worked again. Any idea of a fix there?
Or what I may be doing wrong?

Tips on a home setup? I’ve been recording and writing music for a few years now and finally decided it’s time to learn how to really use protools and experiment more. My concern is making sure the room isn’t going to mess my vocals up. Do i need to treat the room? Or will I be good with the kaotic eyeball on the mic and a isolation shield behind it.

You definitely want to be recording in a space with the least amount of reflections as possible.
The solution heavily depends on budget. If you've got the budget to treat your room, go for it! If not, maybe consider throwing the mic in a closet with some thick clothes/coats to deaden your sound. The eyeball is another option, but not our go-to fix.
@@MyAudioAcademy I have the budget to do so. My concerns are where to place the panels and how many. I don’t want to over do it. The room is 15.7ft x 11.5.ft. Just put in a natural wood ceiling and going to take out the carpet & do vinyl floors. There’s a bigger window on the one wall that’s 11.5ft and a small window on one of the walls that 15.7ft
My plan was to use the eyeball with the acoustic panels I’m going to build with mineral wool sound insulation. I plan to put the desk where the big window is. (Of course with a little bit of space in between)
Super helpful. Quick question - why start the project in sample rate 48 if you export it at 44.1? Why not go straight to 44.1?
To minimize loss of quality due to exporting the mix into wav format I would imagine.
Hi, i’m stuck at 9:35. When i press Shift + option and click on interface all i see is analogue 1 & 2 (mono) and optical 1 till 8 (Mono). Did i miss one step ?
Hey J-ley! You're doing it right most likely 👍
These options look different for everyone. Analog 1&2 and optical 1-8 is just specific to your interfaces setup.
Just be sure to select the input (likely Analog 1 or 2) that your microphone is plugged into.

@13:05, be sure to save like this and "Create from Template" when you're creating your session ✅
If you do it like this, after you create the template one time, you're good to go for your future sessions.

Why does every track mute when I mute 1
When I try to change each track color it changes every track together. How do I fix that?
Be sure the audio track that you’re trying to change is selected, and only that audio track.
Sometimes Pro Tools can automatically select all your tracks, which would cause the problem it sounds like you’re having.
you keep saying hold shift and option. i do not have an option key. whats this option you speak of
If you're on Windows, it would be "Alt" 👍
This is excellent stuff, however, it’s pretty clearly organized and because you’re organized you’re talking really fast and it’s really hard to track without stopping the video many times. So a recommendation from a teacher is slow down, and or consider putting an outline at the bottom with each thing that you did. You’re doing a different approach that I’m used to and I am enjoying it. Thank you.

If your computer is equipped to handle 32bit, absolutely!
I personally can’t hear a big enough different to justify the file size increase though 🤷♂️

Your videos is important but next time is important that you just do a tutorial like this exactly how it will look when a beginner first open the software...but the way you started this video u could have done it on a next video
