God damn! Put some dynomat in the trunk tho lol
More than enough deadening in the trunk what you are hearing is the flimsy exhaust shield above the muffler got 4 to 6 layers of deadening all through the trunk depending on location
Mike NBass oh ok
did you have to break these in for a whole, i have 2 in a box made fore these ported, and they just sound so low off of a 1100 rms alpine 2 ohm
Holy shit that goes way harder than I though it would for 2 12s
@OneMoreDown hillarious
Yeah no fucking kidding that was surprising
I got one sa 12 in my impala on a Memphis 1,000.1 and that mf gets nasty like that too not on the front glass like that so much but definitely in the trunk
I got these in my camaro!!! This is truly how they are. They are amazing subs.
What are they called like how much watts and everything cuz I wanna look in to it
@@Mike_713 sundown SA Classic 12s. 750rms per sub.
@@Zekeiszeus thank you I really appreciate you man
@@Mike_713 no worries bro enjoy. They aren’t that expensive either.
Man Sundown makes amazing subs - hard to beat. I know the SA12s main focus is SPL but how's the SQ? Compared to other SQ subs like JL, Image Dynamics, Type R's, so forth?
The sa is more of a daily driver. In my enclosure they sounded amazing in the car as nd outside as you heard. But enclosure is key. The best sub on the planet will still sound like crap in a bad enclosure while a blaupunkt will sound great in a fancy design enclosure. But that being said, the sa series is pretty much impossible to beat in terms of daily driver performance and sound quality alike. They also, if done right, handle 2x their rms rating clamped. My buddy bought a scv4000 from me earlier this year and is putting it on 2 sa12s in a very well built d4s enclosure
@@mikesthundergarage3793 Gotcha. Thanks for the insight. I'm running a single Type-R 12 (latest version) in an enclosure that I made, designed to spec (1.7cu ft tuned to 35hz), which sounds incredible. The Type-R sounds really good and is very accurate, with the only caveat being it's power handling abilities. Should I unfortunately blow the Type-R, my next go will likely be the SA12 because I know that it's a beast when it comes to handling a ton of power. The Type-R and SA12 also share the same enclosure specs so it'll be an easy swap if I end up with a SA12. I'm not as into SPL as I am SQ which is why I'm wondering how good the SQ is with the SA12. I used to run a Sundown EV 12, entry level sub that had plenty of SPL but kinda lacked on the SQ side. The SAs being the big brother to those, I would imagine is a step up in both power handling and SQ.
@@PolkFan you definitely wont be unhappy with the new sav2 coming out. New motor, u series basket, even better coils, more power handling. Better sound. Same enclosures.
@@mikesthundergarage3793 Very nice. Thanks for the info. Nice vid. Keep bassin!
Holy shit. Jus got 2 sundown 12’s last night nd ordered new 0 gauge wiring hopefully mine hit like this.
Are these the 750 rms rated sa’s
The box is everything 💪🏿
Definitely gonna have to copy this set up.
shawntlgs most definitely
If you do put some sound deading obehind the plate.
What you use to keep all the sound together in the trunk do you have boards on the sides or some type of pad?
Mind blown bro!! Those hit hard af!!
is that a prefab or custom box? and what amp are you running?
damn that sound nice

@@mikesthundergarage3793 how much for your old build
@@Ty-yc8ui it's been gone. Port was 13.5 tall, 4in wide, believe was 20in long. Box was 16 tall, 36 wide, 19 deep. Amp was tuned properly under a reactive load with a smd dd1 not just a signal going through the outputs. Amp was a sae2000d. Audio control lc2i for factory integration. Tuned properly without clipping indicator turning on. No port noise whatsoever thankfully. Has always been my favorite setup and I've been trying to find that box again but whoever bought it from me sold it then that person sold it...
@@mikesthundergarage3793 shit sounded crisp and clear hope i can get a setup like that

What subs are these exactly I’ve seen different, like the sa12 d2/d4 750w and sa12 d2/d4 1000w , and v2 and v3 what’s the difference?
Just got these classic 12s and got a new fosgate t1500 and the pounding hard as a mafucka. But I'm in need of a new box
How does it sound with yo 2 front windows down I bet it would sound even more deep
It got down pretty good. I've completely rebuilt revamped and all 4x as much bass and 10x the doors. Video this week SUBSCRIBE and you'll see
Are these the dvc4 or 2 ? and what are they wired down to ?! I have 2 sa 12 dvc4's on sfb2000 wondering how you wired them ? Thanks
I have a few questions regarding the setup (which is awesome by the way.)
Are the SA12s pretty good musically? I’m not looking for SPL competitions or anything. I want good sound for my buck that is powerful enough. (I’m also not expecting them to be JL W7s either.)
I currently also have the AudioControl LC2i in my Mercedes S550 with the H/K Logic 7 system. I currently have an annoyance that the first bass-hit in a song is much quieter than the rest. It’s like it levels out after the first drop or hit. I’ve messed with the accubass and everything and it hasn’t really changed.
And finally, do you think my Rockford Fosgate R1200-1D amp will be enough to power two of these? I’m probably going to get two of the D4s and my amp runs about 1300 RMS at 1 ohm. I know that I’m going to way under power them, but is it enough power to get them sounding decent? Around 650 rms per sub sounds alright.
I’m replacing my pretty old and very abused 2 Kicker L7 10” subs that sound horrible now. One of them has a burnt coil (I’m assuming) and it’s just annoying to listen to now. They aren’t good for SQ at all. I mean my stock free air 8x12 DVC H/K sub sounded MUCH better despite being about half the bass.
My “reference setup” per say is my friend’s fully built Fusion. He has 2 Memphis M6 12” subs, 1 Rockford T1500-1BDCP, 1 Rockford T600-4BDCP, JL Fix, Memphis $400 components (don’t know the model), and JL Coaxials in the back. The bass is just riveting and sounds so clear. (His amp is what blew one of my coils on the L7s.) If I could get anywhere near the bass with the SA12s and R1200-1D I’d be ecstatic.
Holy shit just realized how long this is. Sorry 😐
I just installed a single sa12 d2 with a r1200-1d @ 1ohm and holy shit its loud. The sa12s like closer to 1000 watts I would either go with 1 sa12 or get a 2k watt amp if your electrical can handle it.
I have a Skar VXF 15 on a Diablo 8500w amp & it vibrates my whole car lol
I want to tune my amp so it can hit just a tad bit harder 👀
Holy shit. I think you convinced me to get some sundowns for my Mazda 3! What amp are you running?
What amp do you have and how did you wire it you you actually wired it
Dat junt hitta hard asf what type of amp do you have on them 2 SA
That’s how u know they got something heavy in there when they pull up
did they damage anything yet they hit pretty dam hard? did you sound dampen the trunk yet?
No damage because proper prep was done. I sound deaden any vehicle before adding bass. I hate that ghetto rattle sound...at this time I had about 60sq feet in the trunk. I now have 4 40sq ft boxes in the trunk alone plus 2 boxes in the doors and elsewhere. On another level now
How much was the build?
Bruh that sounds damn good! I have one sundown x12 on a dd2500 in a custom ported box tuned to 32htz. Hits the lows pretty hard but any other note it doesn’t sound good at all. Like this song right here…. Doesn’t sound as good. I thought the x series sundowns were “better” than the sa??
What speakers you rocking ??
How much actual airspace are the subs getting?
What is your electrical in this car?
Is one 12’s will do the job on daily ? What amp u suggest on single set up ? Need some space in the trunk 😅
on a single sa12 or 15, a sae1500 at 1 ohm will be perfect when tuned properly for a daily setup with a properly built enclosure
Wss looking at the SA or the soundqubed hds3
Can I run this on a taramps 3000.1 md amp or will it blow it

Man I wish I had a car or truck or a SUV to put something in it
You build boxes??
You running this on stock alternator ?
Trying to figure out what my 2014 maz6 can handle...
Yes, stock alternator. A very poor big 3 upgrade lol. Get yourself a northstar nsb agm35, a proper big 3 upgrade with an additional ground directly off the alternator to the battery under the hood, a 2nd battery, northstar SMS agm 220 in the back, 3 chassis grounds in the back, and if done right, that will support a 4k amp at half ohm all day if tuned right. I have a shit ton of sound deadening as well. The rattles are the gas cap door and exhaust shield
@@mikesthundergarage3793 Nice, its hard to know what I should buy when my alt can only put out 100 amps which are probably half used by the stock electrical and 400 watt 4 channel amp already. Do you just have the gain on the 2k watt sub amp set really low? Any headlight dimming ?
@@tetsballer1835 led headlights are your best friend. Frees up atleast 5 to 10 amps of draw especially when brights are on. No dimming with a proper good quality set. As for the gain on the amp, it was tuned with a smd dd1. I also had a audio control lc2i which has a clip meter but also greatly improves the signal strength. Stronger signal cleaner signal, and much louder bass without using more power. But you have to be careful with a strong, 5v or more signal as most amps under 400 bucks and some over cant handle vcd that strong of a signal, and will fry a voice coil in a heartbeat. My new amps in my new build, finally I have a FIRM ETA of 4-5 weeks at the new shop I took it to because was taking too long and wasnt getting anywhere, are the audio control d-4.800 and d-6.1200. Both have built in clipping indicator and dsp for maximum factory integration with radios like ours. Getting new door panels all the way around now with custom dual tweeter pods on each side of the dash. SUBSCRIBE for videos to come, will be alot of them!!!
@@mikesthundergarage3793 I ended up buying a single sa 12 and a Rockford prime 1200.1 . My enersys battery seems to handle it with skyhigh 4awg big 3. I never expected a single sa12 to be so loud.
😮a is12 is do that Jesus👍🏿 🔥
I bought 2 sa12 just a couple days ago , just got a high output alternator installed as well(280 amps). Im gonna power the sa’s with a DD m2 which does 2400 watts at 1 ohm at 14 volts. What size box would you recommend and tuning? Its going in a 13 honda accord
I would go with 1.75-2ft/cu NET after all displacements including bracing, port volume, subs, etc each tuned 32-33hz. Double baffle front. If it is built well and to good spec for the subs you shouldn't have more than about 1ohm of box rise so should be able to clamp around 1400-1500 watts. You'll never see the 2400 in a vehicle on subs because speakers create a reactive load. The amps for any brand are rated on a resistive load. Reactive changes ohms as the vc moves up and down and resistive simply stays the same.
Make sure you do a proper big 3, upgrade your battery under the hood and with a 280a alt mike want to add a battery to the rear just in case unless your under hood battery can safely take that much charge on a regular basis. I would highly recommend northstar that's what I run. Ran 10k rms just fine holding good safe voltage stock 100a alt measured at the amp input
Mike NBass so when I got my big 3 done they used OFC wire but 4 gauge. Should I get = 0 gauge put in ? I don’t know much about car audio but under the hood in the fuse box thing it says “150 amps” do I need to get a bigger fuse cause my amp draws 250 amps max. Also the box builder said 5 cubes would be good for the 2 Sa’s I feel like that’s a bit to big. What would be the sound difference between a 4 and 5 cubic foot box? I’m guessing 5 would be louder?
@@Xxbamafan on that much amp with that alternator, a good big 3, with 0 gauge I dont think the 4g will last long if it does it will make the alternator run hotter because it's trying to push more amperage through a lesser capable cable. Yeah the shorter the run more amperage it can deliver I just dont trust 4g for anything more than powering 1000w or less amps. A 5cu ft box on that much electrical capacity wont provide enough compression inside the enclosure and will lead to premature soft parts failure. 2ft max net after displacements I'd say 32hz at 1.75 net each would be best bet
I have 2 Sa 12s in a 5 cubic box with 2000 watts. These subs need more room than 2 cubic feet per sub as per the factory recommendation.
Are they sa-12 d2 rev.3 correct 750 watt or is it something different ?
Theyre either that or the sa12 v2 that is 1000w rms. But it just says sa12 so i think the 750rms ones
What kind of amp you got?
Sae200d sundown
What amp do you have?
Do you have some kind of epicenter?
Audio control lc2i in this setup. The new setup has the audio control d-4.800 and d-6.1200. Built is dsp matrix, or a slimmed down 608. Only difference is it's a 607. 6 channels of amplified output and 1 pair of output rcas to run to another mids and highs amp or in my case, the bass amps. 2 scv4000 to be exact. This was 1 sae2000
@@mikesthundergarage3793 One of the best sounding setups on youtube by the way!! You got any other preferences for woofers besides sundown?
sir jl audio w6 10s and 12s, w7 all sizes, deaf bonce apocalypse series, not the machete, are all very nice. DC is nice but about 1/3 overpriced across the board. Skar audio, their higher stuff is decent like the dnr, vxf, and one other. Resilient sounds seems to be decent I guess but they blow too easily so I say stay away from them.

thank you!
Sounds good bro
Sounds dope!!
Bleddy hel it bangs hard 😲
That head unit tho, you maxed the shit out of it... your amps don’t clip?
Tuned with a smd dd1 under a speaker load. I leave the bass on the head unit at 0. At full volume everything still sounded crystal clear and the dd1 detected no 40hz or 1000hz distortion. Amps were set accordingly under the load of the speakers so I can get an actual reactive distortion free measurement instead of a resistive measurement. SUBSCRIBE to see the new build in the coming weeks. Almost done...

Box 5.3^3 ?? After displacements??
Before displacement. 5cu after.
When unable to clamp rated power or better, or simply unable to run rated power, a larger box seems to be key. Yes I was running a sae2000d but clamping power was only about 1100 watts. Really makes a difference but have to be careful doing so. More often you will unload the suspension if not careful enough and will wear out the spider pack and surround, risking mechanical bottom, and destroy the subs. When I sold the setup after several months of beating them to death, still stiff as new. 0 bass boost, bass is 0 on the deck. Knob never more than halfway up, and noone in the area could touch my output level with the same setup. Box is key my friend!!!
sheesh
Awesome! I have the same 2 subs with box at 32hz, 1/0 ofc big 3 but I have a sfb 3k amp
I personally like the cleaner filtered sound of a korean board. Less hissing noise due to better filtering. Those sfb amps are great and pack killer punch like many other full bridge and Brazilian but they all have a bit of signal noise pass which is annoying to me. I'll drop 10-15 percent efficiency to avoid it lol
Rms?
Sundown sae2000d at 1 ohm. Stock alt. Crappy big 3 with cheap ofc. At this time I believe I had a shuriken skbt 8785dt battery but could have been the stock Panasonic g35. Box was built well and ALOT of sound deadening was properly installed to get to this performance level. I believe if I would have clamped it I might have seen 900w rms out of the amp maybe 1000.

Never open the trunk when you have subwoofers on full tilt , you can destroy them... It happen with my 15" on 1500 watts rms
a properly built enclosure will keep them from unloading and performing in essential a free air condition as you reference. a box too small can also cause soft parts damage. a open trunk condition means absolutely nothing in terms of performance you had something else going on that caused your failure
@@mikesthundergarage3793 It's the instant change of pressure that unloads them , has nothing to do with the enclosure , you can do that free air and broke a subwoofer like that , do it 10 times on full tilt and you can say bye bye to any subwoofer with enough power to not burn the voice coil
