Even under sanctions, the food selection in this store appears to be much healthier than a lot of the processed junk sold here in the U.S. In order to get good organic foods, you need to shop at organic stores, which have much higher prices.

@@alexzhangdragonn3438Some may taste better and be of higher nutrition and quality. Not what people expect but I wouldn't be surprised. Most brand names use stuff farmed from soils that are depleted of nutrients and farmed intensively with heavy pesticide and fertilizer use. You can taste the difference even with the same brand names like popular brand names baked beans as an easy example, their own same brand name organic equivalents tasting much better unlike the non organic versions that are bland and horrible. Some fruits we ate in the 50s - to get the same taste and nutrients we would need to eat 5x or even 20x the amount in some cases, due to modern non organic farming practices and hybrids have been shown to have fewer nutrients as well.

One alarming statistic, cited by Russia's consumer protection watchdog Rospotrebnadzor, claims that over half of all deaths in the country are linked to poor diet and food quality. This shocking claim isn't without basis. Russia grapples with high rates of cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, and obesity, all heavily influenced by dietary choices. The prevalence of processed foods, high in sugar, salt, and saturated fats, contributes significantly to these health problems. A 2018 study by the World Health Organization revealed that over 60% of Russians were overweight or obese, with women disproportionately affected. This widespread poor diet creates fertile ground for chronic illnesses, ultimately shortening lifespans.
Beyond dietary choices, foodborne illnesses add another layer to the issue. Botulism, a potentially fatal neurotoxin often associated with improperly preserved or home-prepared foods, remains a recurring threat. Russia consistently reports around 200 botulism cases annually, with a mortality rate around 10%. Additionally, outbreaks of salmonella, listeria, and norovirus continue to plague the country, causing widespread illness and occasional deaths. These incidents point to vulnerabilities in food production, handling, and storage, exposing a significant gap in food safety standards.

Notice how Prigozhin was practically allowed to be a warlord? He was never tried, or sent to prison. He was assassinated if the whole thing wasn't faked. Kadyrov is apparently also above the law in Russia. Anyone who criticizes Islam now gets sent to a place like Chechnya where its leader will order his teenage son to beat the critic up and make him convert to Islam as he is made to beg for mercy. How are they any different than Genghis Khan? These lower men can never be trusted. They are born from the deepest putrid cesspits of hell. The only thing they understand is power. All offers of friendship are nothing more than 💩tests to gauge whether or not they can dominate others.

Bell peppers (capsicum) are $1-$2 each in California. You’re lucky to get green ones at 2 for $1… I’m in California, that has the ideal climate to grow them year round with little to no seasonal issues. 😭

    • @StofStuiver
      @StofStuiver 5 месяцев назад +3

About the same in NL. Although prices vary on weight. For that price you mention you get decent size bell peppers here.
You can buy 3 in a package too (red, yellow, green, called a stoplight) for about 2 euro.
They are grown a lot here in industrial greenhouses. In fact quite some just a couple of miles from where i live. And there are always those that get deemed not suitable for 'market'. We have one former farmer here, that started a veggie shop some 50 years ago. And he sells those unsuitable ones, for like 1 euro per kg. I almost always buy those (if they have them). They may be a bit smaller or have some spots on them or something. You just cut that out and they are just as good as the expensive ones.

The leaders of the NKVD were the same ethnicity of people that Germany targeted more than anyone.
They openly threaten to nuke Europe and America. Their media propagandists cast the Soviet plundering of Berlin in a positive light.
At protests, Russian expats have mocked the grisly deaths of Germans in Berlin 1945 and Ukrainians in the "special military operation"
Russia has far less free speech. They imprisoned people for referring to the SPO as a "war".
Russia's bureaucratic corruption and nepotism rivals Africa's. They invited the group 'Islamic Jihad' (banned in Russia) to the Inter-Palestinian conference held in Moscow.
The UN's quality of life index ranks Russia lower than Saudi Arabia. Russia ranks 3rd place for opioid addiction behind Iran and Afghanistan.
Most places outside of major Russian cities in Europe are rundown and backward. Not enough money is put into building and maintaining sturdy architecture. There are not enough paved roads, many of their cities lack proper irrigation leading to flooded streets and broken heating pipes.
Russia ranks 33rd place in the world for the prevalence of STDs, alongside African nations. Two thirds of all HIV carriers in Europe live in Russia. 17% of prostitutes in Europe are Russian. Most victims of human trafficking in Turkey and former Palestine come from Russia and Ukraine.
They still have prison colonies that rival the severity of Guantanamo Bay. These prisons are situated in remote regions, sometimes surrounded by hundreds of kilometers of uninhabited wilderness.
There is leaked footage of prison torture, often involving rape. Their prisons rival Guantanamo Bay, and their guards are known to commit extrajudicial murder.

The shopping 🛍 groceries (just food( is over 70% of your decent salary (youd need a top positon of which there aren't many). She fawns over this wrecking ball, destroying everything good in Russia, for personal gain. Lived worked Russia many years, my Russian friends are heartbroken 💔.

The prices are higher of fruit/veg cuz it's not the season, import price,in summer the prices drop, especially in farmers markets.
I dont like how everything is in plastic(i think it also affects the price),that's why i prefer farmers market, you can just use a net.

If you want to compare prices, I think a more correct way would be to show it in precentage. So take an average monthly salary of lets say 50 000 rub and how much % are those tomatoes. versus monthly salary of 1800usd and how much % are the tomatoes in there from it. Maybe it's 0,05% in rus and 0,75% i us? or something else.

@@julius43461 i feel that the prices are going to be a bit cheaper than in us. But the main point is that people would finally get a more accurate point of view. Everyone says Oh they get 1000usd salary there, poor people.. but in reality maybe life is actually cheaper in many aspects in russia.. dunno.

@@CoyotePark It's very hard doing these comparisons. I remember comparing Norway to Serbia when I was visiting there a decade ago. Turns out, stuff like food and groceries are often more expensive in developing or very poor countries than they are in more developed countries. Gas and and appliances as well. I'll list some examples below.
At the time salaries in Norway were something like 8x higher than in Serbia. A bus driver in Norway would earn something like $3000 per month, while in Serbia you were closer to $400 per month. Theoretically even if all other prices in Norway are roughly 8x higher, they would still have an advantage due to more money in circulation, meaning that they would be able to acquire foreign goods like machinery much more easily.
However, the price of gas was something like 10% or 20% higher, so not even 2x as high, and nowhere close to the salary disparity.
The price of energy drinks was 3x higher. The price of some essentials was ranging from not higher to being 4 or 5 times as high(stuff like bread, dairy, eggs and so on)
Clothes was similar or cheaper. Cars are similarly priced, but used cars are even more expensive in developing countries as they are in demand more, because almost no one can afford to buy new.
Laptops, monitors, gadgets, TV's and appliances were similarly priced, meaning relatively much cheaper in Norway. I remember thinking how someone in Serbia usually buys a cheap laptop by using their credit card and going into debt, as otherwise they would need to spend their entire monthly salary to buy one, while in Norway you could buy one by spending like 15-20% of your salary.
Any kind of software or video games are usually similarly priced, meaning more expensive in poor countries.
Things that are many times more expensive in developed countries are services. Car repair is many times more expensive, but I am not sure exactly how much, probably between 7 to 8 times. Haircuts are probably 10x more expensive in Norway, dentists as well. Property is more expensive, bills but only like 2x. Eating out is probably 10 times more expensive.
All things considered, I think it is cheaper living in developed countries, but I could be wrong as it's hard comparing expenses like property to bread and fish. Not to mention that some of those vary a lot by region inside the same country.

@@julius43461did a quick math on notepad and searchin for prices on the Internet. If you take average monthly salary in my country of some 2300euros lets say. And 55 000 rub in russia. And compare 1 liter of petrol for car, 1 kg of tomatoes and 1 liter of milk. The percentage is virtually the same. With differences of like 0,2% here and there. So basically if a person earns 55 000rub in russia, he is living the exact same life as someone in europe for 2300e salary.

It’s hard to compare vs average salary around. You don’t take into account the free healthcare, free education, low taxes, low utility costs, most Russians own the property they live in, etc. so even if the % is higher of the groceries cost compared to the salary, when you compare all factors it will still be more comfortable to live here in Russia on an average salary.
