Good video matey, I'm a traditional man my self and have used mortar toner to alter the colour before, but there no doubt easy joint is a good product and look great with certain types of slabs and reall is so much quicker than being on your hands and knees.

Looks like a great job on the patio laying..should u think after laying any should be loose..if any we're loose what do u think that issue would be after laying with dry mix..exact same slabs 4 sizes

Weve been using easy joint for over a year now what Ive found is the lighter shades tend green up over time so you end up with green jointing also the tubs are small at only 12.5 kg compares to joint it 20kg for the same money but these products do have a place but not on every job depends on the weather & what the customer wants to pay for. personally i prefer JB,s way of cement pointing

Johnnyboy, I'm tring to work out whats best to use for my parents patio regrouting job. My dad tells me the base is concrete on clay. So sand and cement mix (with or without lime?), EASY JOINT or Sika fast fix. It's the concern with the permeability of the easy joint and Sika that water will penetrate down to base of the grout, have nowhere to go and freeze when temps drop; leading to cracks. Tha, as well as when doing the grouting, will the deeper areas 50mm dry out well enough from having them really wet from the amount of water needed when installing the EasyJoint. Any advice will be very welcome!

really interesting point re mix strength. I've used a few sweep in products and have wondered about water dispersal before. I've traditionally laid on a 4:1 mix for patio and mostly point with sand and cement as I prefer the look of it but again the points you make are totally valid. (I'm currently enjoying an afternoon off laying a patio due to the rain today!)

Great video and great tip about the 6:1 mix ratio. One question I do have is soon I'll be laying a new patio on top of an old one and I'm a bit worried about the drainage reqd, again going back to why you say you use that mix ratio. Do you think this will cause a problem for EJ?

My builder used something similar to this. Don’t know if he did something wrong or if it was the weather but it’s all cracked and lifted. I can pick it off in long chunks now. Of course he will not come back to take look.

Having had so many problems with traditional pointing, as you said with the weather and low temperatures, I'm always using easyjoint now. Pointing's not so much of a bitch anymore, it's a shame you can't finish it as smooth though.

I've just finished laying a 20m2 smooth Indian Sandstone patio (DIY job). I'm going to grout using Easy Joint. Is this something I could do shortly after laying the patio?

Hi john, I’ve just laid 22sqm of sandstone at 3 sharp 1 soft and 1 cement, I’ve just bought a few tubs of mushroom easy joint but now I’m worried that the bed mix is too strong and the water won’t disperse. You said on the vid it needs to be at least 6 / 1. Cheers
