@@kotetsujin3493 i think your not too far off with this comment. I certainly think its worth more than a hundred but it is certainly not a no brainer at that price. I would like to see the XK line from Wltoys up their QC and materials. They are trying to step up the game but i think maybe they would be wiser to up to make them better not just bigger.
I pre-ordered this buggy about 2 weeks back. I can’t wait to try it out. Looks awesome. There are rumors that later in the year they may release a brushless version but I can’t wait that long. Stay safe out there. 🏎
Awesome! Love these WL buggies. Being a Tamiya fan I find it incredible that these WL's come so much cheaper with much more durability than the far more expensive Tamiya.
Awesome video guys! very entertaining 👌 thanks for clearing up the motor issue for everyone now we are all just waiting for ours to arrive🤞they look awesome 🙌
Hopefully the stock motor has abit more power but I did under gear it with the 550 we used. I’m looking forward to seeing this thing on brushless power! 😁🍻
For the price it's not that bad. Definitely needs better tires and a center diff would be nice. I just now ordered the Aarma Typhon 3s blx, I think I will be ok lol. Great video and thanks for sharing 👍
I agree with metal part upgrades. Adds weight and you just move the week point down the line. I agree with parts. I am in Canada and I ordered some parts for my 124018 which I really like. It's your review that made me buy it. But considering the price I paid for the buggy and the parts I am not complaining.
Fantastic video you two. It sounds like it could be a great budget base to start with. Looking forward to getting mine soon. 👍🏻👍🏻 Keep up the great vids
I was so excited to see you had one that I preordered it off your link with your discount code. Def not bad value for a buggy this big tho I do hope it lives up to the rep of its smaller sibs.
Love the review! And completely agree with the centre gear, it should of came with a slipper as this car is more comp oriented which means lower turn brushless motors (alot of sudden torque) for spec racing but then again, this is their first 1/10 that they have made (at least to my memory) so hopefully they make some revisions.
Great initial review! I’ve been hesitant to buy any WLTOYS because I was waiting for this to launch. For now I’ve been bashing some BEZGAR trucks at my local skate parks.
Was really interesting seeing that little snippet of Hong Kong life. It's a place I've always fancied visiting, although it sounds like HK as we know it may have gone forever now. I hope we see more in future videos!
Great raceday! Fun little buggar, the buggys are like gliders when they jump, really cool looking how they fly! Looking forward to the race against the little brother(019). Amber is just killing it on the throttle, not so timid on the racetrack anymore, cheers lady!!
axial makes a 540 brushed 15×2 motor that will blow the rpm gauge off that 550 your using for around $20 dollars usa. the 550 is only used for endurance, it has a little tork but not like a 15×2 540 brushed. traxxas uses the 550 standard also---- junk. the 15×2 brushed will handle 3s for many minutes of abuse. good video.
But the question is can this esc handle a 15turn double. If you have to upgrade the esc then you have to change radio and servo as well so you may as well go brushless at that point
Love the content, I have only one comment though: all the times you mentioned "metal" it sounds like "middle" and it is a bit confusing. Aside from that, thank you both for the entertainment!

Pros: It's 1/10th scale and better hardware (assuming it does have that, like you said). Con: I'm disappointed that this one doesn't come with chassis brace. The chassis flex is excessive even for a bashing car. If I was getting one right now to get back into the hobby, I'd grab a 124019. I'm not a racer, so the 1/12th scale is fine. I'd check back in six months or a year and see if hop-ups are available for the 104001 - if they are (especially a chassis brace), then I'd grab one.
Oh my gosh, Wltoys keeps doing it!!!! They keep getting bigger and bigger! Waiting until the day they come out with a 1/5 scale RC car! Wouldn't be surprised if they did! :D
Great video as per ussual. I would love to see a slipper clutch on it as well. Looks like XK is listening and responding. I hope they keep improving. I would like to see a bit more attention to QC and consistency. But yeah for the price they are pretty hard to overlook. Nice Job Kiwis killing it!!...just my opinion
I doubt they'll do it but it would be super smart for WlToys to release this as a roller as well as RTR. A lot of guys (including me) are going to rip out all the factory electronics and replace them before we even put the first lipo in it. Ive already got a plan to make this the car I use to get the feel for a new track before I start running my expensive stuff. Hopefully someone in the US will become a major distributor and make this car and other WlToys models more readily available for the US consumer. I can definitely see this being a killer way to get kids and people new to RC into racing for a reasonable price, where low-priced electronics upgrades will have huge positive impacts in performance and lap times. The factory setup, if it carries over from the 144001 and 124018 will be underpowered on this heavier chassis and the shocks clearly needed thicker fluid or to be filled properly. The car was bouncing all over and making handling extremely unpredictable. The front tires look like some carpet tires I've seen, seems like a strange choice by WlToys. Buggy tires are cheap as can be however, so that will be easy enough to change out. Im looking forward to this being released and some smaller RUclipsrs getting them. Many RC models have issues with QC or engineering flaws in the first production run, I'm curious what kind of problems, if any, I can expect to have with a new 104001. I have a 144001 and it is a solid RC for what it is, it was very close in performance to my Losi Mini 8ight buggy. At least in a drag race, anyway. Cornering and handling on a track was no contest, the 144001 obviously wasn't quite up to the performance of a name-brand brushless model. I never expected it to be and I'm still quite happy with my 144001.
Hey! Yes it comes with carpet tires, so will be taking it to a carpet track when we get back to New Zealand! Nevertheless it still handled very nicely for a $140 RTR buggy! Just needs a little oil top up in the rear. Doing some tuning and taking it back to the track this weekend! 🍻
Nice video guys, enjoyed that! The buggy looks good and pretty capable even out of the box, but as you say you can always (hopefully) upgrade later. Being in the UK I know about wait times for parts, it takes about 3 weeks or so for parts to arrive from Hong Kong, unless I pay a huge amount extra for priority postage, and that's too expensive. It'll be interesting to see what spares/upgrade availability is going to be like, so I think I'll wait for a few months before taking the plunge. Again, great video guys! I got here via RC Kicks by the way, shout out to Gav!!
Hey there! We can’t comment on the speed yet until we have the stock motor installed. I would expect faster than what you saw in the video and I did play it safe with the pinion, I definitely could have gone up a few teeth! 🍻
Pro. Adjustable motor mount for gearing. Con (my opinion) it’s a buggy 😂. I like buggies but I’m a trophy truck person. That track looks awesome and OH do I miss the smell of running my nitros but don’t miss the loud annoying sound lol. Are local track is electric only and no sound boxes either. Doesn’t bother me 1 bit. Ps Joe if amber wouldn’t of lost it just before the last turn o think amber would of beat your time 😉 Again thank you both for another great video.
Haha fair call! We love the trophy trucks too! We love them all! 😂 but lately I have been loving the buggies. I think you’re right there, Amber was very close! Maybe this weekend she will take the win! 🍻
The number one pro i see is the upgrade abilty. I've already recieved the brushless system i'm going to be using. The con has to be the chassis. I'll have to refraine from taking it where i take my Typhon 4s tank.
Nice, guys! You actually answered all my questions as I was typing them 😎 I do wonder if it's sturdy enough though. My 124019 falls apart when you look at it but I would love this one as a roller and put in race worthy motor and esc. Worth it or rather invest in a tried and true (and expensive) platform?
Hey! I think it’s a awesome buggy for the price! We will be upgrading it with a budget friendly brushless system and taking it back out this weekend to see the performance difference 😁🍻
I prefer the 124019 for the price and stability if you stretch it to much it just will flex. A center gear is another wear item. Overall it's a toy grade RC so do expect components to last long.
Thanks for the video. To be honest I was little disappointed with its "in air" stability. I hoped for good balance because of 1/10 scale and lots of space inside but it always dive with front axle. Same as mine 124018.
Thank you! Air control was a little hard due to the fact we played it safe on the pinion gear so couldn’t get the wheel speed we needed to have better control! We will take it out there again with the brushless system installed and see the difference in performance 😁🍻
Not that i own this particular model but if you love wrenches and benches yes. If you want run after run without fixing or tinkering maybe hold off until you have more experience in my humble opinion. Good cars not great cars and they are a bit notorious for having small issues that usually require attention.
I would recommend the 104001 over the 12th version in any case. I do struggle to find a reason to buy the 12th over the 10th...Maybe price, 12th a bit cheaper.🍻
IF you used proper tires for that track, upgraded the suspension, faster servo, made it brushless, add a center diff, made it lighter it still wouldn't be good on a track. but for a parking lot basher it's probably OK.
Nice Professional Video. Great rewiev. Love the Looks this car has. Flex is good at track i believe ? This car looks handling the track very very well. The Huge Nitro Cars did need some stress drive faster than this cheap rc car :) Actually amazing how well this car does at that track . This must be beginners best RC Car at low budget i believe after seen both videos you done. Also a fun cheap back up car to others who already own a expensive racer i believe,. Last time i went out drive my Professional rc car , my servo got issue. Not fun. just pack and go home again. I wish i had one of my other cars with me. Just have something to drive with before go home for nothing . This is cheap car , and light weight. easy to carry and have with the other car. Just like back up atleast. Its always risky go out drive only one car, you maybe crash, or something fails, Because of this it is great have back up ride with you. Then you can atleast drive something than nothing if something fails. And not all can have two expensive rigs. So i believe this can be fun back up car to many who already own a professional rc car maybe. Because it looks fun, ok handling, and it is dirt cheap. Thank you RC Kiwis for this great review. Looking forward to see this car go Brushless . Sorry my bad English,. i live in Scandinavia :) Take care, and have a great weekend Amber and Joe
buen trabajo kiwis.es una tentacion por el precio, pero el 144001 se me estropearon los vasos enseguida. deberian mejorar los materiales y ofrecer version brushless. gracias.
I wouldn’t worry to much about durability these wltoy models are solid if you get hit by one feels like a damn Kraton. They are solid durable cars with many upgrades. They are lc racing cars but RTR that’s the only difference and all you need is a few lc upgrades and you will be ready to compete at any track.
You are joking right? These are nothing like the quality of LC Racing. LC Racing is race grade, Wltoys is toy grade that uses trash plastics and cheap alloy parts. Like the rc kiwis said, put brushless in these and they will blow up motors or gears n drivetrains. There's also a reason pro grade rc cars come with plastic spur gears instead of "metal". You can be far better off by buying a used roller for $150 from a reputable brand with great part support.
Love your Videos! You guys are cool!! You guys should review buggies like tlr 8ight x, mugen seiki mbx8, kyosho mp10, xray xb8. You might be surprised :D
i missed the part about the motor? you put your own brushed motor in? yes this seems like a great buggy.. maybe lc racing slipper can be made to be installed in it..
It comes ready to run. They just recommend you upgrade to brushless motor for better performance. What I don’t get is how that will affect the drive train.
Yes it comes completely RTR with motor and everything. We received a review sample, that came with everything but the motor.. so we showcased the car using a motor that will be similar if not the same. We will be upgrading to brushless this week! 😁🍻
@@TheRcKiwis Cool... i think the best videos on this car will be side by side comparison to the lc racing car it was made after... like steering ,balance, wheel play, slop, body flex etc... then laps on a track like this comparing times with same skilled drivers... than finding out which lc racing parts fit this... maybe it does need less flex in body...i really don't know...what i do know is a great handling car that can be upgraded into a top notch car will be heavy on many peoples radar....thanks for sharing..
Guys I need you to make a decision for me. Wltoys 144001/124019/or this car? Trying to get my niece and dad something cheap to run around with me and I know my dad likes playing with the gearing and would probably go brushless at some point so which car would you advise? Not sure which has the most upgrade potential or which would be best for dirt bashing/asphalt drifting but that’s mainly what we do, thanks for any words of wisdom 🍻
I really wanna know what those tekno eb48 2.0's are like for bashing. I've seen a couple people doing it. I would love to see a video on that and or comparing it to an arrma typhon 6s
I'm curious to know if you can get a brushless for this and upgrade the Esc. I was going to get this or a Traxxas bandit VXL brushless. It's maybe $150 more than the wltoys. it goes 55 to 70 mph, Out of the box, with a gear change

Sorry my bad English,. i live in Scandinavia :)
Take care, and have a great weekend Amber and Joe
buen trabajo kiwis.es una tentacion por el precio, pero el 144001 se me estropearon los vasos enseguida. deberian mejorar los materiales y ofrecer version brushless. gracias.
what in your opinion is the best options for a back yard buget basher ? larger then a 1/16 and brushless...
Very nice buggy they really are bringing out great RCs
Would love to know what brushless system you guys put in, once you have it up and running.
We have that linked in the description 😉 a nice budget friendly hobbywing brushless system 🍻
@@TheRcKiwis Thank you very much. You guys are great, keep up the good work.
Please could you tell me the measurement between the front and rear wheel? thanks and greetings from Spain
Which better choice for control, jump and stable between 1240019 or 104001
New sub here love your guys vids! How are parts availability for wltoys? This would be my first one, really like it but worried about parts. 💯👊🏻✌🏻
Love your Videos! You guys are cool!! You guys should review buggies like tlr 8ight x, mugen seiki mbx8, kyosho mp10, xray xb8. You might be surprised :D
Thank you! Definitely keen to get more Rc kits! 😁
Take it out in the dirt see if the esc lasts longer than a day. The ones in my 124019 and 18 both went out in a few runs
Really enjoyed this vid! Keep it up 🤙🏼
Cheers Mike !!🍻
I just paid for one.. When are they coming off pr order guys and dispatching?? 😊
They have already started shipping! 😊🍻
I worry without a center diff the gears are going to break teeth off. I happened with a my redcat blackouts with no center diff!
i missed the part about the motor? you put your own brushed motor in? yes this seems like a great buggy.. maybe lc racing slipper can be made to be installed in it..
Can a standard sized lipo fit in the stock set up, or could you make one fit?
I really wanna know what those tekno eb48 2.0's are like for bashing. I've seen a couple people doing it. I would love to see a video on that and or comparing it to an arrma typhon 6s
15k subs! Wow guys! 👍👍👍
i saw some pictures on another video that showed one painted purple and green i wonder if thats the planned brushless one?
Not sure, would be pretty cool if they did bring a brushless RTR buggy out!
Joe's about to be eaten by an 8th scale nitro buggy! Run little fella, RUN! 😁
😂😂😂
Looks like there was 0 oil in rear shocks. Rear quite bouncy.
Yes, after reviewing the video, the rear shocks could do with more shock fluid!
Moving up in the game if you have that talbot guy commenting lol good job guys 👍
Haha cheers! 🍻 Kevs the man!
I'm curious to know if you can get a brushless for this and upgrade the Esc. I was going to get this or a Traxxas bandit VXL brushless. It's maybe $150 more than the wltoys. it goes 55 to 70 mph, Out of the box, with a gear change
the traxxas is also only rwd this is 4x4
Hey guys. Awesome video. Speaking of Hong Kong and non RC related...have you guys seen Kong vs Godzilla yet? The main fight is in Hong Kong. It's BONKERS!!! If something like that ever goes down you guys better stay safe and get to those bunkers. HAHA. J/K I know the movie was fiction. But it's fun to imagine. 🦖🦍
Hey there! Glad you enjoyed the video! Yes we plan on seeing that movie very soon 😁🍻
@@TheRcKiwis There's also a fellow Kiwi in the movie.
Would only buy if available as a roller chassis, pointless upgrading all the electrics to get the car I want.
Very fair point! 🍻
Yeah cool cool cool track we don’t have anything within 100 miles not like that👍
