Good call on a cold start. I do insist on a cold start. I got cooked on one though. He primed the spark plug/cylinder with ether (I suspect) because it was a difficult start from that day on. It started right up that day. I've had em with stripped head bolts, carrier bearing issues they claimed were brakes, steering bushing rig-ups, etc etc. I have bought my education. I have learned to say "this is likely a parts bike" when it's a no-start situation. Discipline can save headaches later. The owners are eager to sell a dream sometimes, and you have to go with the worst-case-scenario, or what you will eventually GET is the worst case scenario.
Hot tip from Detroit: Stay away from (newer) Polaris, Textron, all Chinese, Warriors and Blasters. Just my opinion. I have great experiences with all the others. I am not a flipper, I just fix em up for fun.

Definitely agree, usually you can tell by the buyer and the initial first impression of the machine and how it’s kept if it’s going to be a nightmare or not. Most of the bikes I buy are running or at least try to start, don’t really have the desire to pull my hair out tracking down extensive wiring issues or anything else, would rather wait for the right one to pop up and be patient.

Really i love warriors they are my favorite quad besides a banshee but shit those go for HUGE money now a days .

@BADDUDE_CORNPOP warriors are heavy, slow ... And they have a bunch of electrical stuff to trim if it hasn't been done yet. I prefer to just stay away from warrior/blaster deals. They truly are not my favorites. Yuck. They are like the Chinese quads imo....

Great video. I just started buying/selling this month. I bought 4 already and have sure learned a lot lol. I try to get the absolutely insane deals fast so its less risk. The best thing I've learned is its ALWAYS worse than what i think its gonna be when I get there.

Yeah the deals are the way to go, and yes usually always worse when you get there lol I try to zoom in on all pics and ask for videos if I can.

Good knowledge 👍🏼…I’m currently looking for a used quad..saw a older rancher but the racks were recently painted black and sure enough a closeup revealed heavy rust at the welded joints..saw another that the entire quad was black..I mean everything !..I figure possible stolen ?..was really suspicious..asked that guy and another for ownership papers or a bill of sale but they couldn’t provide none ..scary 😳..almost going to give up and buy a new one …oh and came across 2 with broken instrument cluster screens that can’t get the mileage info…yet they advertised normal wear and tear ?…for how much mileage???

Here’s another pro tip, run from any used atv that been snorkelled.

I’d agree to an extent, my daughters quad for example is snorkeled as you can see in the video however it’s never been deeper than the top of the tire. We just wanted to make sure that she didn’t suck water if she found a deeper hole by accident. But, MOST snorkeled atv’s, have indeed been sunk or ridden hard and put away wet.
