What a beast this pedal is. Honestly when this landed on my doorstep I knew it was great but after spending a few weeks with it I'm amazed just how brilliant this is, from the multitude of options to the amazing high fidelity stereo imaging. Just wow, amazing meris. greta video btw, new sub
It's great that are a few awesome companies that always push the limits, like Meris, Strymon and a few others. This pedal sounds simply awesome, congratulations Meris! Thanks for the demo.
@@MilesAwayOfficial I have seen videos with people who state that the Chase Bliss CXM 1977 pedal sounds better, but obviously those people didn't realize that it's the tweakability that makes the Meris pedals sexy.
Sounds amazing, love it, very well presented. The UI certainly seems very intuitive for the depths of it. LVX is definitely on my radar, also needing a P6 back in my life. Thanks again for the great video.
Thank you so much for this review Miles... I've just gone and purchased on the strength of this video 👍 I intend to pair it with the Mattiarch... which I also purchased a while back... because of your patch video 😆
Ha! Glad I could help inspire, both absolutely great choices. Enjoy them! My tip for you is to try out some long feedback diffused Poly algorithm LVX delay on your Matriarch, its this half reverb half delay sound that sounds absolutely epic on the Matriarch.
What a timely review, I'm eyeing LVX in detail for the last few days - it looks really incredible! Btw do you think it really fully replaces Hedra, or are there some useful Hedra functions that LVX lacks?
Glad I could help! It really is an awesome pedal. As for the Hedra comparison, unfortunately I don't own one but I would be surprised if there was much this couldn't do that it could. Tell me if you find out!
It's my new favourite pedal, too ... still have to pair it with my synths, you get some great tones here! Here's my demo focusing on the LVX with guitar: ruclips.net/video/pnBIegSonsQ/видео.html
I used to hate reverb cos as a littlest grunge kid it sounded too stadium rock, but asides from the fuzz obsession I’ve always loved delay! Think the lvx will replace my battered , bruised & broken dl4. Cheers for vid , nice to hear it on synths 👍
Your videos are always 🔥 and have led to me acquiring many of my favorite pieces of gear ❤ - your sponsors are definitely getting their money’s worth! 😂
@MilesAwayOfficial If you have a moment, a follow-up question to a fellow OB-6 and Sub-37 homie! :) I'm debating between Empress Echostation and Meris Polymoon (very helpful videos you have on both btw!) - If you had to choose one delay pedal to live on each of these synths (and assuming reverb is already taken care of later in the chain) which would it be for OB-6 and which for Sub-37? Or maybe one of these delays is better suited for both of these synths in your experience? Thanks!
Mine is new and it started randomly slipping on the delay parameter or setting meaning moving up and down causing unstable sound interruption. After it warms up it gets worse and seems to be normal when turned on. It works great on synths probably better than guitars. I need to return this one which is defective.
Hey! Check out my full ZOIA video too. To sum it up, the ZOIA is more powerful/more possibilities, but the LVX is more fun and fast to use. I prefer the LVX but ZOIA is great too! ruclips.net/video/ff4iNzTf3vg/видео.html
I ordered one of these but I can't find a Ring Modulator demo because the CS80 had the Ring Modulator. It's classic 70s but still can't find a demo of it using this pedal.
@@MilesAwayOfficial Yes this does that sound in an all-in-one unit with MIDI & controllers applied to the Ring Modulator for use with Deckard's. Has CC MIDI channels I should be able to assign to the afterrouch also using my MPE Osmose as the controller. Don't really want to buy Eurorack gear and Rachael module.
@@davlippo7got it! Yea the LVX should be able to do similar ring mod. As for setting it up via Midi on your Deckard’s dream I don’t know how to do that as I’ve never played a deckards dream
@@MilesAwayOfficial I guess seeing the new h90,meris and microcosm.. they all are similar... I do like presets for recalling sessions... would be cool to see you have a shootout of all three
@@RabbitintheMoon they are actually quite different! LVX has great presets too, but it’s also the deepest of the 3 by far. Microcosm has a mind of its own and is a happy accident machine, LVX is all about modular sound design of effects you create, Eventide is all about world class presets :)
I am just about to sell my microcosm after getting the LVX. Very different, I think people are confusing their abilities because they kind of look similar (big pedal and white), but the LVX imo is waaaay deeper and waaaay more usable.
As others have mentioned, the Microcosm is somewhat harder to control. Looping guitarist Andre LaFosse posted some really interesting takes on what it can do & shows MC in a different light from the "fluffy make-everything-sound-pretty machine" that it's normally portrayed as. Personally I found that I was using the same predictable Mosaic patch 95% of the time, and I want to get more use out of a big pedal than that. The LVX covers far more usable ground for my purposes.
This has both the dimension knob of the Polymoon AND a separate diffusion knob, so yes you can create amazing reverbs! Just note they are all gonna be that ambient cloud style of reverb, you can’t do like classic spring reverb or plate reverb, since you are turning your delays into reverb.
Agreed! It feels like a Microcosm / Habit with much more control. I actually did a Microcosm video too if you are curious to see how they compare! ruclips.net/video/RSluvpD-YLU/видео.html
Sorry to come off harsh, especially since I like your content. But if you're trying to go granular, there are better ways to get there than a very expensive delay. And using a delay as a reverb doesn't make sense. There are lots of great reverb effects out there that can give you the trails we hear here. And if I want generation loss, I'm going to Chase Bliss. And right now there are a lot of cheap or free plug-ins that do the same things. But live there are other cheaper choices doing the same things. The real problem I have with the LVX is that it's not offering anything innovative yet Meris is charging premium prices for rehashing old ideas. And that might be the problem with the pedal market in general, a saturated market and nothing new.
Appreciate the comment and no offense taken! I definitely agree with you that I'm gonna be recording with a seperate reverb pedal after the LVX, that was more to show the power of modular effects, but I think what is really innovative about the workflow of the LVX is how feat the workflow is vs how crazy deep and complex you can go making interesting FX chains and playing with feedback, looping, granular, all interacting together. But definitely, if you just want a reverb, or just want a gen loss, go specialized. This is more like an artist's pallet to combine and explore!
@@MilesAwayOfficial Thanks for the great insights. And don't get me wrong, I like Meris - I have the Enzo, Hedra, and Ottobit Jr (I regret not getting the Mercury 7 and the Polymoon). But I have at least 8 delays, maybe more, some are analog; I got the Suhr Discovery this year. So I'd have to have a really good reason to spend $600 on a digital delay (I don't do live performances, which I think is where the LVX shines). Still, a price point of closer to $400 to $450 would have been tempting. Btw, I am loving your content! I'm a guitarist, but I own lots of synths. I'm considering getting the OB-X8... your demos was great. Are you still loving it? Is the menu diving a problem as some have suggested?
@@commodoor6549 Thanks for the kind words! And I totally get you, price point is definitely high if its not exactly what you need, or you have lots of other delays. As for the OB-X8, it's the best thing since sliced bread, and pretty much unbeatable sound wise AS LONG as you like that core Oberheim tone, because it always sounds like an Oberheim. If you like that sound you hear in demos (like i do) then you will be in synth heaven, but you aren't gonna have an easy time trying to get it to sound like other styles of synth music. In guitar terms, it's like an 8-String Ibanez metal guitar, fantastic at what it does, but you might not have the best time trying to play smooth clean acoustic jazz on a guitar that specialized.
