Also, Dr. Daniel Charles and Dr. Reese visit Cook County jail to give inmates their physicals.

And this is why you don't back seat drive. The doctors should have never allowed this to happen in the first place. Especially if the doctor is an "expert" in said field.
I love how everyone is wearing a mask except for the patient who is literally inches away from his open beating heart.
the masks are to prevent them from breathing in bloodcells from another person, this can lead to very bad disseases and overall very unhealthy, because it is his own blood theyre dealing with he doesnt need to wear a mask
Well the doctors arnt the one who might need immediate care with breathing etc, the doctors don’t have there heart open and might need immediate oxygen the patient does!
Malcolm McDowell is such an exceptional actor. He plays "bad guys" so well!
Always a pleasure to watch him
He's had plenty of experience playing the bad guy, that's for sure! Clockwork Orange, Caligula...yes, definitely "bad guy" parts. But then, he was an entirely different character in Time After Time, where he plays H. G. Wells. A very versatile actor.
Let’s not forget his role as Dr Loomis in the Halloween 2007 remake, and Halloween II in 2009
@@jakemcnulty Oh yeah! I liked the original actor better, but Malcolm does a fantastic doctor/professor/evil scientist type. I still remember him from the first Star Trek TNG movie!

I was just about to say that. Imagine people who only know chicago med through clips on youtube end up liking dr. bekkar, then watch the scene from season 5 episode 1 and realize how wrong they were.
I'm still sad about what they did to her character. It really came out if nowhere!
They did Ava so dirty she was my favorite character and then to cut Connor in the same episode…
To be fair, this surgery was way before she went nuts and killed a man
@@abigaillewis6187: She was mine too, but she showed signs of a serious personality disorder. Possibly borderline personality disorder. Her fear of abandonment, virulent mood swings, reckless impulsivity and a manipulative streak. It's heavily implied she slept with Connor's father, to achieve the goal of the Hybrid O.R and then lied about it to Connor. Killing his father was the ultimate act of desperation, removing what she saw as the last obstacle between her and what she wanted. Of course it backfired and she killed herself, with nothing left to live for.
The Vena Cava is a vein, not an artery. The way they have presented this, it would be obstructing blood return FROM his head and upper extremities, not TO them.
I know medical shows aren’t perfect, but this should be a simple thing.
At least they tried though, I mean getting basic cardiovascular terms wrong is bad but the whole scene is inaccurate
Yeah but this is a common condition that happens in cancer patients, SVCO, they explained it a bit wrong but it does happen

To be awake during your own surgery is pretty insane, to be blunt.
Reminds me of my TOP surgery 30 years ago and I had to beg the surgeons for it to be done under general anaesthesia 😢
Now general anaesthesia is the norm for surgical TOP

I do not care if he is the God of all heart surgeries or if he invented the scalpel; he has no right to kick a doctor off of a position in the middle of surgery. Surgeons go in with a team and a plan and some entitled know-it-all brat can't go changing things to his liking.
