For the longest time I thought Tom did his own backing vocals. Ed sounds so much like him.
In studio versions he obviously can record tracks and tracks of his own voice, so it's difficult to notice when Ed sings there.
He does do his own backing vocals and yes Ed fills in nicely at live shows
