I've been making bone jewelry for years, I can not wait to try this. I thought the only way to get copper onto bone was through electroforming. Grear tutorial, thanks so much for sharing!!
Just did my first one with copper, turned out great. Just did the black metal wax, no patina. Turning an old 9 pt. bow kill euro skull into a table lamp. Thanks for the in-depth tutorial, and product source list.
Thank you so much! I tried the patina on one of my skulls after the metal coating had dried and it just slid right off, I couldn’t figure out what I did wrong, this helps so much!
Great looking finish. I would have finished cleaning the dried membrane in the nose cavity and in front of the eyes. It takes longer but looks so much more finished and complete.
What an amazing effect I definitely will be trying it on a head that has been laying around for too long. It’s different = it’s good Thanks for sharing Love your work

Awesome video and work, bro! Will be following from here. Expect questions and comments! I have several deer skulls to work, and now a bobcat that i think is getting a metal finish. I loved the full jaw you did, that's what made me think about the cat. Keep up the great work!
Hello sir. I am currently in the process of trying my first skull based off this video. So far, so good. I'd love to know what method or how you did the on you have in the background of this video. ? Thank you for your time
Hey! That's great to hear. It is actually the same finish as shown in the video. The finish can very depending on how much you apply, how wet the paint is etc. Let me know how it turns out!
y'all have access to so many types of specialized supplies in the US (the spraymaster especially). I'm just kinda juggling whatever I can scrounge up x) great video as always tho!
Hey! Just finding your work. Love it! Do you have some different examples of metal paints with other color patina? I'm hoping for a "black cherry" look
Stellar video! Any reason you couldn't/shouldn't just use the spray can primer for the whole thing as opposed to just for touch ups/hard to reach spots?
Hey Hunter! Your videos are so helpful! You will never know how much you have taught me. Thank you isn’t enough. Quick question for ya. Using this technique would you carve the design on the skull before or after the metal paint To make the design stand out more how would it look to avoid the patina in the area of the carving ? Thanks again!
Would you mind sharing if there is a paint or finish you use as a base and final finish in order to help keep the skull better preserved from aging? I’ve heard polycrylic ?
Hey Hunter, great video! I will Be placing an order using your links. What other colors, patinas and wax combinations do you recommend other than the copper and green?
Hey! Sculpt Nouveau does have a darkened iron finish. I just posted a photo of a gunmetal finish on a skull if you want to see how it looks @u.s.skullhunter
This is super inspiring! When you say the metal won't bond with the skull if there is still grease in it, does that mean it will chip off easily? Or won't apply evenly? What does it mean for it to not bond correctly?
How many skulls can you do with the small 8oz can of metal paint? Wanting to play around with the different metals. Thanks looks great. Appreciate you sharing this.
Any thoughts on what a copper metal coating with a black slate patina would look like or an iron metal coating with a black slate patina, just trying to get a sense of what the finish will look like. Great video, thanks
I just did a copper skull with the Tiffany patina, had a couple touch ups to do... did so but after putting a little more of the same patina on it turned really green. Almost like a jade green... is there any way to come back from this? Please help. Also really really love your work!!!! Thank you for everything you put out, it's awesome!!!
Amazing video! Thanks for the great info! One quick question, did you put the patina on just as it came in the bottle or did you dilute it at all? Thanks!
Been checking out all your stuff over the last few days. Awesome work. I really appreciate the time you invest in documenting all these processes. Question, have you tried any other primers other than S.N's primer? Wondering if something out of a spray can would be suitable? Thanks again.
Thanks again Jason! So yes, pretty much any good quality primer will work. I like to keep the same brand for the entire project but really any primer will do.
Thanks for all your knowledge Hunter. You’ve made my searches for product a heck of a lot easier and your finish work looks top notch. Can I ask where you get your dust mask/respirator with the mouth piece and nose clamp? Also with the type C metal, do you just calculate out how much catalyst and hardener to use each time you do a project? I assume you don’t want to add everything to the can if you’re not going to use it all at that time.
You bet Jeff, glad I can help. It is a Resp-O-Rator Jr 100, highly recommend it! Yes, so you just kinda measure out your best guesstimate and it still works fine.

How big are the cans of metal paint in this video? Are those 8 or 32? Tried to zoom in but can’t tell. Trying to decide how big of a can to get. Bigger the cheaper it is by the oz. Will be for a couple deer buck skulls. Not the antlers. Thanks
So my son had a skull of an elk head and horns outside for like 2 years and I brought it in but it still has the brains in it how do you suggest I clean out the brains
Hey Rachel! Yes, absolutely. The porous nature actually adds some character to the finish. If you age the finish with the black wax though, just go over very lightly with the wax.
Just loved ur work but am just a beginner so planning to paint a deer skull and wanna keep it very simple probably with a very basic mandal art over it. can i use oil paint instead of metal paint cos i want it to be a bit shiny.
Great video man! Couple questions: Have you used the gold coating and if so what patinas go well with it? Which color patinas look best in your opinion?
So I just got a buffalo skull and I was gonna use a primer let that dry and then spray paint it with different colors and layers and pull up layers with news paper and then just use a indoor out door spray sealer after it was dry would that be ok?

Hey Shane! Sorry for the delay. SO I have not used the gold coating. As far as other patinas you can't go wrong with blue or Tiffany type patinas

Hey! So I believe it was the same coating as I used in the video. Each one will very slightly so that's probably why it looks a bit different.
So I just got a buffalo skull and I was gonna use a primer let that dry and then spray paint it with different colors and layers and pull up layers with news paper and then just use a indoor out door spray sealer after it was dry would that be ok?
