Doubling Traffic with a Fresh Domain Migration - Ranking Signal Transfer SEO Case Study

  • The Website Move involves changes of a host or/and a domain address. The host changes do not involve a brand-attribution change. Thus, it does not affect the rankings as much as domain address changes. Domain address changes involve brand-attribution changes, which means that the search engine looks for whether both websites are owned by the same brand. The topicality and ownership attributions affect the Ranking Signal Transition. Previously, I explained the Ranking Signal Consolidation with the case study: jetoctopus.com...
The Ranking Signal consolidation involves targeting the ranking signals to a signal web document for a query and query context. It means that two different query contexts in the same query require two different web documents from two different macro-contexts. For example, a high PageRank source can rank two different documents for the query "car," such as "buy a car" and "car vehicle body types." This is about how search engines process the queries to understand. The ranked documents are retrieved for the processed query, not for the given query by the user.
The Ranking Signal Transfer involves transferring historical data, topical authority, and brand identity to a new domain. This brings the concept of "Inheritance of Ranking State". The Ranking State Inheritance means that a website migrated to another can inherit the negative or positive ranking state. Read the article: www.holisticse... to learn "How does Google Rank."
Ranking Signal Transfer between two different domains is related to migration types. Domain migration types involve domain migration, hosting migration, brand migration, CMS migration, URL migration, and style migration. The websites are re-evaluated during the CMS changes or complete URL structure changes. One key point for all these migration types is not simultaneously changing multiple factors in the websites. For example, changing design elements and URL structures simultaneously causes a loss of ranking signals and does not transfer the full identity signals from the old state to the new state.
Changing the domain name while changing the web page layout causes changing center-piece annotation on the web documents, and search engines might not index the new domain as before.
Changing the CMS causes search engines to lose the old resource and HTML document URLs while changing the crawling scheme and pattern. Thus, the ranking signals are not transferred simultaneously due to these correlative changes.
The best way to perform a successful website move is to open the targeted new domain and connect it to the existing old domain for ranking state. Both domains should be connected via external links and corroborative third-party links. Be sure that both domains are associated with the query log files.
For example, if both domains rank for the same queries while linking to each other, and entity-oriented connections between the domains are created, the users' journey involves both websites with the same questions and query contexts.

Gradually, through my interactions with Koray's Framework, I've come to realize just how little I understood about SEO before. His insights have prompted me to disengage from other SEO influencers and focus solely on his expertise and guidance. Take love and respect brother! ❤

hello koray ! I have a query. My ranked site was hit by March 2023 broad core update and then I redirected it to a new domain but couldn't get much better results and hit again in this BCU. I found your video on "Fresh Domain Migration" a bit late, My question is that can i remove the old redirection and transfer it to a new domain again by following your methods for reranking or not?

    • @TopicalAuthority
      @TopicalAuthority  5 месяцев назад +1

Yes, but my methods take 2-6 months.

    Invaluable information as always ❤
I came here after messing up my site migration. I migrated 'Site A' to 'Site B' all while changing design elements. Lost almost 90% rankings inspite of using Google's Change of Address Tool. Is there a remedy for this now? I am thinking of canceling the migration and move back to 'Site A' and after a while by following your instructions move to 'Site C'.
My goal here was to achieve a better brand name for Site A.
Anyway, thanks for this video ❤

Great video Koray the master! Your points are spot-on.
    Quick questions though:
    1. Why redirect old domains to new ones -(I mean can an old domain hit by an update recover?)
    2. If I redirect, do I still need to keep renewing the old domain?
    3. If my old domain is hit, will keywords regain rankings on the new domain after redirect? (Like how long it can take)
    Appreciate your insights!

      1. It is explained in the e book, but let’s say they wanted to change their brand name. And SEO needed to handle the Google communication.
      2. Yes, always keep the old domain under your control.
      3. Yes, even if old one is hit, you can avoid the previous ranking state.
I hope these brief answers help you.

Thank you, Koray, for your work! But I am a little bit confused about the migration stages.
My website was hit by HCU and lost 70% of traffic. I have a plan to move to another domain, which is attached to the old one by 301 redirect.
I don't plan to change the brand name. Do I need just de-301 new domains and start migrating by your guide?
      I have 6000+ pages.
As I understand, the new domain should be a clone of the old one. But with canonicals to old.
On the old, I should link to the new on the About page. After while start to add new content on new domain.
Next, change canonicals on the old domain to a new one. If I have many pages, how do I understand how many and what pages/categories should have canonicals to the new domain first?
What about "domain change" in the search console? Do I need to use it?
Thank you for your time in advance and sorry if I'm not clear 😅

Hello if i wanted to promote auto responders as an affiliate would I first try to go after the email marketing niche in general then segment to to something more specific and less competitive like email marketing for plumbers and then try to promote the aitoresponders there or how would I do this

    • @TopicalAuthority
      @TopicalAuthority  7 месяцев назад

First of all, this is a logical idea but, convincing people with auto responders might be harder than usual. Using ActiveCampaign and their automations with different scenarios would be way more helpful.
