I am 51 and have seen how gaming has changed for sure. In the past you just played to win pretty much. I like xdefiant and for sure there is not much to do expect play the game. I do not care for gun skins so I am not even paying attention to my gun level anymore. I would not mind seeing deeper challenges like....using deadsec and hack a enemy mine and getting a kill. That is something I have done a few times. I just feel right now the game is just basic and in todays gaming just playing to win is not enough for younger gamers. Also the BP unlocks are just not that good. Hopefully if the game sticks around they step it up. But what I do like is being able to change the reticle of the sites and scopes so hopefully that is added soon. I also am wondering what happened to eliminating disbanding lobbies. I would like to keep playing with the same people and fill in empty slots between matches.
The issue here is that we're used to the dopamine hit that current games give us. And I'm not exempt from this lol. They've refined the formula to the point that we get rewarded for simply walking around in the game. The unlocks, the huge jump in the XP bar and levels with the new stuff that comes with that (emblems and whatnot). And it's not just in video games, it's everywhere. Netflix will drop an entire season at once instead of one episode a week like regular cable TV used to be. Hell even my mother now hates it when her new favorite show is weekly dropped instead of the whole season 🤣. We're surrounded with instant gratification. Sadly solid gameplay isn't enough anymore for most people. More unlocks and rewards are needed. Battle pass for the time served playing the game but the game also needs more task specific unlocks. More basic weapon skins for doing specific challenges. Doing X thing while playing as x faction and faction specific unlocks for doing so, not just more XP. I believe all of that will come eventually but their main focus is the core gameplay at the moment.

A few camos is fine and I've gotten 4 guns titianium prisma myself, but if they just keep releasing the camos with more levels there's no end goal. Without plenty of new content, too much of a grind for not enough reward just ends up with people playing something else. Xdefiant has so much potential but it's a live service game and potential isn't enough to compete in the industry without follow through. I'm not hating either, I'm waiting. No issue with me, I'll play something else until the game has more to do, cause I've done it all
I literally hop on and play the daily challenges, complete them, then turn it off. The seasons too long and the battle pass is too short. I still really enjoy the game but I’m burnt out with just playing things over and over. So I’m in and out until the next season and battle pass
I am not fan of grinding in FPS games. I was growing up on CS 1.6 and CoD 2, I play FPS games to shoot stuff. Grind belongs to MMOs and ARPGs. I dont like what happened to gaming where every single game nowdays need some grind that artificialy wants me to play the game for any other reason than shooting stuff and having fun. Thats why I like simple games, jump in, have some fun, jump out. I love xDefiant, it feels more how games used to feel with some inovations to the mix.

I’m old. I like playing the game for the game. I skipped all the CODs after BO2 and came back for MW3 and got so angry at that game. I hate SBMM, I like XD for the game. Maybe in weird. The game literally was never nothing special. This game would've been good if it came out in 2011 but not this year. It just doesnt do anything special at all. Ppl just overly mad with Cod but XD just didnt stick cuz its meh at best. Theres nothing to do in the game thats keep you playing like it like others
It’s free lol. I play it over CoD simply for the gameplay and lack of EOMM SBMM garbage. Camos etc are cool but that would never be a priority in my eyes guess others probably dump an insane amount of hrs in compared to my casual self

Something which you are criminally taking for granted. I am Level 166. I love this game. I play it all the time. And the best part about it is, I didn't have to pay for anything. I agree that the game needs to have better rewards. But that doesn't mean the game is trash.
I personally hate grinding, specially grinding for weapon attachments. I play XD because the gameplay, movement and gunplay is fun. No stupid killstreaks and no sbmm/eomm bs.
I don't like the argument that we only played for fun back in the day. I play for fun now, too, but the expectations are different with a live service and a one-time content drop. I never expected another piece of content when playing Bioshock 2's MP or Halo's because it was an add-on to the campaign. Which is fine because it never asked for more money after the initial purchase. Live service games are sold around the fact that they are here to stay and are going to keep the game in a healthy state. With player numbers on the decline, Ubisoft isn't holding up their end of the bargain. The progression for XP is boring, and OBJ still doesn't give weapon XP. The only way to level up is to slay in an objective-based game; it's not why I paid into this game or invested so much of my time in pre-season. At this point, OBJ XP should be tripled if they can't figure out a nuanced way to balance slayer and normal players' reward systems.
There’s not much to grind for but the game is still fun. XDefiant is my favorite multiplayer game on the market currently. First mp game I’ve played regularly since before 2020
I started seeing this notion about 10 years ago when I used to play with a younger friend. He would only play games if there was something to "obtain" like in Fifa he would only play for cards in ultimate team or callcards in CoD and made max prestige in MW2 (2009). I think it's the devs fault in a way because this is how they have prmoted their games with the challenges / XP/ battlepasses as the core objective and not the game itself.
It’s not like other arena fps games have much going on either. CoD has no permanent rewards, what’s the point of grinding for anything in a game that gets hard reset and abandoned every single year? Halo Infinite is dead, what else is there that is non BR? This isn’t just an XDefiant issue, it’s an industry one.

I feel like fort has really done it perfectly ik its been for years obviously but theyve killed it they have a mode for everyone theyve turned the game into a big ass sandbox with battle royal being the main game

Since release date, we gotten like minimal content and not to mention the netcode/hitreg isnt too much better. Having prestige isn't going to fix anything if its just level itself. If their no challenges or rewards for it their no point in it just like leveling weapons. Its a leveling simulator and that's it. Ranked isnt even fixed yet, and while an apology is nice its not going to fix much unless they do fix it coming season 2. With all that being said at the moment the game isnt what I thought it would be, BUT they have many opportunities to come back. I just hope they do come back fighting.

I would love to see old school Clan tags and clan/team tournaments. Thinking of the old Mplayer days, picking maps, etc. Those were my Rogue Spear/Ravenshield days.
I'm 45 but don't remember anything about Halo...I've always been a PS fanboy...retired now of course since we can all play together...lol. I also couldn't care less about anything to grind for. I was pure shit at this game for the first month so just playing every day and being able to finish every single game in the top 3 is all the enjoyment I need.
After the cease and desist of MW2 this would be a good chance for xdefiant to get players in but add something to the game just anything don’t wait for seasons randomly give us a map or a event to get a camo or faction skin cause I want this game to be around for a long time this game can make it and we need to believe in this game it is free to play after all
My only real problem with the game is the LOBBY BALANCING. I can play 10 games, play well (decent score & kd) and not win a single game. Its getting really tedious!

I think Mark and team have made a great game, I dropped on mm3 last night first game (not Played in two months was last two in leaderboard, next game was top think I must have been playing bots ! Top leaderboard it’s just so boring !!! I wasn’t great at xdefiant to start with been conditioned by cod over the years but I’ve put the time in and I’m not bad now !
As far as I know prestige system wont be available til sometime in season 2. The game is OK,it has good and bad points. I have around 70 hours gametime but I think I may be done with it. Whatever they add or fix in the future may be to little to late. Just not sure.. I dunno man. I mean it has a lot of potential stil..but yeah. On the fence about sticking around.
Agreed with you nothing to grind, have camo but not fully cover the gun and take too long so I am not going for it just hope like COD do camo challenges get 10 headshot or what this way will be faster... I'm still playing the game because I'm having fun

I like the state the game is with content I don't want it to be like fortnite with 4 battle passes in one, faction balancing and hit reg is what the priority should be not releasing more content to grind.
Yeah once people complete everything then they will complain about something else. If you don’t enjoy most matches thru gameplay maybe you need to move on and play a different game. Everyone expects games to have unlimited content now, and it’s just unrealistic.

XDefiant was never a good game that can stand on its own. It never had anything unique about it nor did it ever cultivate their own fan base. The game is literally a cheap dollar store cod with more bugs and issues and no content
I’m playing XDefiant regardless of what comes out. It’s now my multiplayer game of choice. I play tons of single player games but this is the only mp one. I’m playing it until they shut the servers down, however soon or not that may be
