      I agree, as a content creator myself… it’s wild how montages actually got views 10 years ago now videos have to have more substance but I think TikTok and short form content along with streaming kinda hurts gaming for fun…you got ppl with nothing else going for them in life putting their whole being and existence into games and also willing to cheat bc you know…all in… 😂 most folks will have to go back to a real job in their 30’s or 40’s…and there’s nothin wrong with that, a lot of ppl would prob b happier spending less time on games and living a more varied balanced life NOW…

    difference is, back in the Good Ole Days of Gaming, sure people were "competitive" in game and talked trash, but it was not Competitive in the way it is today. Competitive back then meant "to try really hard to win the game using the skills you have developed" and today it means "Using the best equipment, $200 controllers, $300 headset, Fiber Optic Internet, Gaming Monitors, and the list goes ON. Not to mention all the hackers today. So, yeah. Cant really compare the Competitive scene of today, with its billions of game guides, meta builds, and tips and tricks vids and everyone trying to be a Twitch Streamer to make money(big reason comp is diff now). I personally think we should take Competitive back to LAN. A lot of pros really arent as good as you think, and just have the edge due to resources and money. They have the best of the best and tbh, most only get their spot because THEY KNOW SOMEBODY.

      The amount of money it takes for a top of the line set up is not that much if you're an adult its only a hindrance to people 18 or below in high school and lower. If you're 22 you can get a job and get a top of the line gaming pc, desk, chair, monitor, headset, speakers, controller and mnk (everything you need) with warranties for within 10k and I'm talking about top of the line quality stuff. Then for 50-65 dollars a month you can get a 1-2 gigabyte per second internet connection from major providers (Verizon, comcast). Once you have that it is good for 5+ years at which point you may want to update your pc but you still retain all of the other equipment. If you can't afford to fund it you should work on your real problem which is finances and figure out your financial situation

    • @iBlueClovr
      @iBlueClovr Месяц назад

      If you are really on a budget a console is 500, controller is 250, headset is 300, desk and chair say 1k combined. So that's like 2k with 50 dollars a month for the internet since 1 gigabyte per second is the maximum that a console can recieve anyway. If you can't afford 2k then it's not a serious hobby for you and you have bigger problems anyway. Also it's not like a home Gym if you're a fitness enthusiast you don't need a lot of space or your floor to have a high weight capacity in order to put the equipment. You can have a studio apartment and genuinely have a tip of the line set up with no space issues. It wouldn't matter if you have a 10k square foot mansion or a studio apartment the desk set up is superior which makes it easily attainable for people

    It's the players for the most part that make games more Competetive especially since the surge for streaming and i would say Fortnite was the biggest breaking point. Games like XD can be casual or competetive just like a racing game or Uno. It's just that games like XD attracts certain people that say they are casuals while also at the same time they complain it's too competetive sweaty. The other thing is gaming is so much biger today than it was 10 years ago while they are also trimmed on retention. So people start to stick way more to just 1 game and play that alot and then they start living in their own small little bubble which screws their perceptions.

    I’ll say it like this. The maps on xdefiant are small. There are for sure more trash players then anything but they’ve been protected for years on cod now so going into a game that isn’t rigged and protecting them all it takes is 1-2 good players on the enemy team and they will steam roll the trashcans which makes it feel more sweaty. As an example a game of arena let’s say player 1 drops an 80-10, player 2 drops 55-20, players 3,4,5 all go around even or negative but that is more then likely still enough for all of the enemy team to be even or negative maybe 1 that goes barely positive. The problem lies with how the playerbase has been protected for so long they can’t handle a game where they would actually have to get better.
    I can 2 box on cod multiplayer and find lobbies twice as fast as my normal lobbies all day long and drop nukes every single game without even trying, it’s actually kinda crazy how easy the lobbies are compared to normal lobbies. just imagine how many of those kids have been playing since mw19 getting protected for the entire lobby to go even/negative every game and still be that bad. Back in my days which really kicked off in bo2 if I got shit on would take it in learn how to avoid it from happening again and take that knowledge to keep getting better, now a days everyone thinks skill should just be handed to them I guess and everyone better then them are hacking because they don’t want to take the time to actually learn how to play. I have a friend that has been playing with me since I started and he’s still one of the worst players I’ve seen so some won’t get better that’s fine but he also won’t take any advice to try to get better which isn’t fine

    • @ferkinell1
      @ferkinell1 2 месяца назад +4

      To be fair which isn't fine is being told to "get better" which is the most used common insult, why should someone who deems themselves as a casual player need to get better, the play for the FUN not the glory, if your a great player that's excellent for you but not everyone wants to be like that.
      The fundamentals of a GAME is to enjoy it, if you are forced to do this and do that to play the GAME the FUN goes out of the GAME, but for players that are great all they want to do is get better and i'm glad they can do that but there is no need to moan about players than just don't have that skill set.
      The rest of the comment is bang on, 1 player in such a small squad can ruin a whole game for that team and the opposing team which is why i feel it should have more players per side possibly 12/12, which might solve some of the issues.

      @omegaxtrigun 2 месяца назад +1

      @@ferkinell1 The problem with your logic is that you think getting better and having fun are mutually exclusive. They’re not.
      Most people aren’t playing “for the glory”. Even the ones who are good or are actually trying to get better. Nearly everyone playing is playing for fun. Improving is part of it.
      Also, if someone doesn’t care about improving, then they shouldn’t care about how well they perform right? So why do they need to be protected by sbmm so much?

      If you are doing anything in life and your goal isn't to get better at it to some extent that's pretty odd. It's basic human nature. So realistically you are just upset that people are better than you and you cope. Random lobbies are fair. If that's a problem to people they should probably just stick to playing single player games where they can be "safe".

    I don't think XD is any more competitive than online shooters in general, it's exactly as I remember games like quake 3A, gears of war series, battlefield and all sorts of other games I've played. I'm pretty sure all the people saying sbmm is good have only been playing online shooters in the last few years and don't have any actual casual experiences to call on. Also I completely agree, that's just how the scene has progressed over time. I think there's also a lot more people playing these days so there's probably a whole lot more lower skilled players than there ever used to be which leads onto my first point

      sheeeeeet! Been playing since fps games since BF 1942! And I am 100 percent casual. Casual players DON'T CARE ABOUT SBMM AT ALL! I have no idea why people think casual players care. Is it fun or not? Playing sweats isn't fun at all! Even sweats don't want to play sweats. XDefiant has been done to death in the last 5 years and the only selling point is no sbmm. So to casual players there is no selling point. All the most sweatest MW3 players ran to XD thinking they would get bot lobbies and were met with other sweats hoping for the same. Any casual players already left. Skill is not based on how sweaty or casual you are anyway.

Idk about y'all but every match I play in call of duty literally everyone is slide canceling around the map and jumpshotting or dropshotting every engagement including myself. They aren't complaining about this in CoD so I assume they are in low skilled lobbies where no one or very few people are doing that in their lobbies on cod. They get to XD and have never seen good players play before and it shocks them. They don't know what to do but bitch and cry about it.

      Back in those games you had all kinds of lobbies. As a above average player you got some good games and some bad ones and everything in between. Loses, blow-outs and really close games. Exactly like in xD today. When we first played fps games we all sucked at the beginning (at least most of us). The game isn't really all that sweaty imho. To me it feels perfectly fine. The problem is, people have been brain-washed by sbmm the last few years, they don't know how a games feels and plays that's not rigged. my theory on it being too competitive is that a lot of people dont play it as much anymore and only the players that are really good remain on a daily basis for the most part anyways, and this is because of a couple reasons. the weapon grind being pretty intense. i work a full time job i dont have more than 2-3 hours daily if im lucky to actually play the game. and for someone in that situation the weapon grind is real and it makes the weapon grind seem almost unattainable especially if you want to do the weapon masteries for all your guns. they made the current weapon level system during a time when we had double xp every weekend, and now that we dont it takes us ages to level anything up. i also think a major reason why a lot of people stopped playing the game as much is because of the bunny hopping and crouch spamming. and im not saying its easy to do because its not. i bought a scuf controller and had to learn it. but forcing someone to have to buy something that isnt cheap and relearn a different button layout just to be competitive isnt really fair. and anyone who doesnt jump spam or crouch spam is at a significant disadvantage to people that do utilize it in their game, doing it vs not doing it will 9 times out of 10 determine wither you win or lose a gun battle, and it doesnt matter whether youre up close and personal or at range. and dying a lot because of ultimately a button layout or intput device shouldnt ever be a thing in any pvp game in my opinion, and i can see why people get so frustrated by it and stop would playing the game. also the speed that content has been rolling out is kinda slow. especially on a game with no prestige mode and on a game where the weapon grind is so long and on a game where there are no other modes other than multiplayer 6v6. this isnt ever going to change because it takes times to create new content but it is a problem nonetheless, i do think if a serious nerf to bunny hop/crouch spam and double xp weekends every weekend become a thing wed see a lot more player retention especially on the more casual player side of things.

    the key difference between the older days and now, is that games back then were primarily designed to be fun first and foremost, without the competitive crowd being put on such a pedestal. it used to be that you had competitive communities drawn to and forming around games that were already fun to begin with, and anything they didn't like was honor-ruled out rather than changing the game as a whole. Hardy LeBel - lead MP designer for Halo: CE - said himself that he wanted a fun party shooter that Nintendo would be proud to release. this attitude continued under Max Hoberman's lead, as shown by his threads on his SBMM implementation - it was loose, and prioritized fun and connection quality.
    whereas now, it feels like devs/publishers are trying to force games to have an esports scene before making an actually fun game first, and listen far too much to that scene instead of giving them the tools to balance separately from the casual, unranked experience: as another Halo example, see the nerf to ALL melee damage in Infinite because a few competitive players complained about the Mangler. this design shift and the rise of streaming definitely led to a bit of a cultural problem that's probably going to take years to break out of, and we need more games that return to that "fun first" mentality before it can start to heal.
    even XDefiant is guilty of this - they openly advertise how they listen to pros, they throw a useless bandaid fix to the movement exploits (air strafing is an annoying exploit and takes very little skill, don't @ me) and the team balancing is heavily skewed towards giving a single, high-skill player a much weaker team to work with

    I disagree with the thesis of your argument. XDefiant isn't sweaty all games are. I'm not sure how old you are but the shit-talking of MW2 (OG) was only half of that coin.
    While some games were sweatfests after a pre-lobby of shit talk, with non-disbanding lobbies when you met chill people, we would swap to silly weapons.
    Do you think those lobbies where everyone had an Intervention on but wouldn't shoot until they did a 360 on every shot was an accident? No, people who enjoyed each other's presence would drop the sweat and just have fun.
    The fault is on the devs, not just Ubi SF but all modern devs who want to capture the e-Sports scene, who want to be popular on Twitch and encourage people to watch with Twitch drops.
    The fact is, players didn't change, and all became fame hungry all wanted to be the next Mark of Jay; the dev's core design did.
    1. Where are the disbanding lobbies? I would put on a mic and hang out but trying to get a read on someone's personality in one match is impossible, so I don't.
    2. Where are the social playlists? Why do you think so many people want S&D? Sure, some people sweat, but the one-life nature makes a lot of people mic up, and that leads to fun conversation. From ninja defusing to clutches. It won't resonate without non-disbanding lobbies but hey. Also how obvious is gun game? One in the Chamber? It's a mode where you can only use a pistol, but Abilities has a 90% cooldown modifier. Something that is inherently non-competitive that doesn't encourage slayers camping their asses off like every other mode.
    3. Why isn't OBJ score rewarded yet? Fuck netcode improvements; I'd play way more if I saw slayers with 43-2 with 2 OBJ scores at the bottom of the leaderboard. This game was sold as an OBJ-based game; it didn't even have TDM at launch; why the hell are slayers the most rewarded players? No one cares about winning anymore because winning the game but getting last on the leaderboard just to get called trash by both your team and the enemy; it feels bad, man. I'm not even negative, but prioritizing the win always but your bottom 3. Then these slayers complain about carrying, you don't carry anything when wins are worthless.
    Your assumption that everyone wants to be the next Ninja or Jev is absurd. Most people want to just have fun after working 8-12 hours a day. It's wild how narrow the content creator bubble has become. Most people can't play 16 hours a day to match the pro players; we can't just try harder and practice when you account for real-world responsibilities.
    It's up to devs to foster an environment through their design that caters to fun. Ultra-competitive players should have sufficient rewards to drag them to the ranks, and social playlists should have an emphasis on fun.

    I think "competitive" gaming truly took off with crossplay.. and unfortunately the consequences have been pretty significant. overtuned aim assist to compete with kb/m and then exploits to use said aim assist with kb/m, ai cheats that emulate mice and controllers... nothing feels fair anymore and more and more people are leaning towards exploits and cheats to keep up.
    Im sure cheating and exploiting would be a problem even if crossplay didnt come along; but I adamantly believe it accelerated its proliferation tenfold - and the deluge of cheating streamers has also poisoned the well by giving a false idea of what actual skilled gameplay looks like

    People are being sweats, or tryhards, or what ever is the cool term at the time!
    And I have the same take I always had - It is a coping mechanism from bad players!
    They are not mad the other team are winning, they are mad they are losing! They are mad that they can't use a shit gun they don't do good with and still win. They are mad they lose when they go pistol only! They are mad the other team play OBJ when they don't! And then they say "Oh I could win if I just tried" and for a few of them, that might even be true!
    Why do you play a game if not to win? That is the whole point of the game!
    This is PVP, you can't force 11 other players to play like YOU feel in that moment! You can't dictate, that now we just all run around with no sound and using bad weapons - just because YOU are in the mood for that!
    Honestly! To everyone that complained about this - stop being so fucking selfish - the world does in fact NOT evolve around you, and while you are the star in your head, in your little own reality, you are nothing but pixels on the screen for everyone else!
    Play PvE if this bothers you - or get good, or learn to have fun on your own terms, even if you lose while doing it, because you didn't play to win, so then what does it matter if you doesn't win?!

    This might be a hot take, but Xdefiant is nothing more than simple marketing for scuff and elite controllers. Like if you don't have re-mappable buttons and paddles on the back of your controllers, you're gonna lose 8 out of 10 times to someone who has one. It's literally p2w for controls at that point. Not to mention, video game culture pretty much promotes being a no-life meta sweat nowadays just to make money/have content so RUclipsrs and streamers can just rush and get all mastery as quickly as possible.

    May i give you an insight to when games like Quake came and what age people were, when Quake came out i was 33.
    Ok lets start here.....At 33 i was able to afford to buy a PC and use it but it cost me a lot to buy it, people below 20 were unlikely to even own a PC, now back then it was a luxury over and above any console so young people never had access PC's.
    Now when PC's got better and Consoles got better and FPS games really took off(i would say 10+yrs later) the younger generation took over and it is that generation that broke the original cycle, the last 20yrs the games are dominated by young people and all original gamers have either retired or don't get a look in anymore.
    The younger generation got better at playing and better at finding ways to exploit games and for some to create cheats which we as adults back then would never of done.
    We started out the casual gaming, the following generations killed it because they became more competitive and less fun, followed by YT creating rich people out of being competitive, it goes on and on, the casual gamer has almost gone extinct in many game titles especially COD/XDefiant and any game like it.
    Because of the skill gap between casual and competitive and also the fact competitive players are very abusive towards casuals(can still be both ways), the casuals will leave games faster than they join one, then soon enough they wont be playing that game at all until the game has died and lost its support, then casuals come back to keep games alive, much like BF3/4/1 and older COD's with community support.
    As you get older the more people don't want you to play either.
    On my 3rd edit i remembered your words of enjoying the game because you feel it is casual to you, i also see your skill set which fits into the games demographic, basically you fit right in, if you was a lower skilled player obviously the adverse affects are apparent, just on the finish of the video the bottom 3 players on each team have very similar scores bar the top 3 on the other team having got many kills still got hammered, which ones are those that are casuals?
    Great topic, sorry about the essay but had to make it easier to understand lol

    Agreed. It has been an extremely casual experience for me. I dont have to think about weapon or faction meta really, I can just pick phantom, throw on the same set of attachments for any gun, jump into a lobby, turn off my brain, and go destroy folks.
    The game has the basic elements for them to improve upon, which can definitely develop into a much more competitive game down the road.

    In my opinion, Xdefiant is like the real world for individuals who have been sheltered by COD for so long. So it does feel like there are way more competitive players or as we know them "sweats". But because you're playing against other people, it will always be competitive. So for a casual like me, you either adapt or leave the game.

    So the solution is pretty simple. If you cant handle lobbies being random and they are too hard for you, you either get better, or you just probably shouldn't be playing fps. There are plenty of single player games to play where you can put it on easy mode. There are plenty of multiplayer games that arent competitive. FPS games just might not be your thing and thats okay. Not everything in life has to have accomodations for you to make it easier. When I go play pickup basketball the world doesnt make sure they are all the same skill level.
