Man, as an older dude who grew up listening to guys like Holdsworth, Gambale, Garsed, etc., it's so awesome watching guys like Joshua, Matteo, Robbie Barnby, etc. come along and be the new wave of jazz and fusion. Shredders are a dime a dozen (and seemingly all of them immensely gifted technically nowadays, lol), but these guys are the special sauce. Amazing song, Joshua. Watching you slay those chord changes so cleanly and with such wonderful voicings you've chosen is just so, so killer to behold. Reminds me of the first time I heard one of Jody Fisher's improvisations.
Right you are, sir! I'm from the generation of McLaughlin, Holdsworth, Gambale, Benson, Dimeola, Bireli, Jeff Beck, Shawn Lane and co. Josh Meader is now my fave new(er) guitarist. Maybe my fave all time. Above even Matteo Mancuso and Rosenwinkel and Julian Lage, Pasquale Grasso, Govan Guthrie and Scott Henderson. This is a densely packed field, but this kid has risen above them all in my heart. Love the kid to bits.
_"watching guys like Joshua, Matteo, Robbie Barnby, etc."_ It's also pretty cool seeing commenters like you casually mentioning names of players with whom I, for one, happen to have not yet been acquainted. I'm now aware, and in admiration of Joshua Meader (thanks to this video happening to be handed me by RUclips this very evening), and I've already been an admirer of Matteo Mancuso for several years; but, until reading your comment, I had never yet heard of Robbie Barnby. Wonderful! And, these sorts of players, they're unique, and inspiring. I kind of scratch my head when I read banal comments like, _"OK, well, I guess it's time for me to throw my guitar in the dumpster!"_ I, for one, where I'm at presently, do not anticipate ever reaching anything near the virtuosity of players like Meader, here, or Mancuso, etc., yet I nevertheless can't understand how the experience of hearing/seeing their magnificent playing could fail to motivate -- infect -- me into wanting to start playing guitar even more. I mean, it definitely does not have any sort of effect on me like driving me toward a sense of futility (if that makes sense).
Perfect!!! I also place Joshua alongside Matteo, Robby and Evgeny Pobozhiy as the current maestros of Jazz Fusion. For classical and fingerpicking I would add Moran Wasser, Stephanie Jones and Lucas Braer.
Ha! So I'm not the only one who got that feeling. I hear such a nice early AAL vibe in that gorgeous main motif. Makes you feel like you're floating in space.
what a unique style and tone, was not expecting this depth of music, you guys outdone yourself. really high level world class musicians, and i have a feeling that this will only improve from here. waiting for more, meanwhile this is for such going to be played in repeats.
I'm 64 years old.....played guitar for 40 years..... fusion is in my blood..... this is so refreshingly incredible.....the entire ensemble is extremely tight...... remarkable!
WOW! This is the first fusion song I have heard that has truly captivated me and has made Josh Meader my new favorite fusion guitarist. Absolutely amazing song.
When someone tells you that everything has already been invented in jazz guitar, send them the link to this video. Seeing that there are still people like this on this planet makes me not lose hope in humanity. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for having managed to do something so well. Keep up the good work!
So many words to describe this music! Beautiful, inspiring, intelligent, intense, skilled, talented, creative, awesome, artistic, to name but a few! 💯👍
This effects me like the first time I heard… Return to forever Romantic warrior, and the Pat Metheny group. The way up. If this is a sign of things to come….what a wonderful time to be alive!
Fantastic, Josh! I really dig it! Animals Jazz Leaders 🤣🤣🤣 This video is the BEST example of how you can play "metal" chords on a jazz: guitar and context.
This is seriously so good and I cannot stress how much I appreciate the fact that this is just good music. Josh, Matt and Alex are so talented but this isn't just a flex track. I think I would like this even if I didn't care about the technical abilities of the band members. Huge props
Joshua I would love to see a solo over PMG “Here to stay” I love your brilliant style! Can’t wait for the album, going to get multiple copies for the family to support you man!
Never heard of him until just now, and surely I've never met him, yet this Joshua Meader somehow knows exactly what I -- a lover of jazz guitar playing for the past 30 years, and something of a (lazy, unaccomplished) guitarist, myself -- want to hear and see in electric guitar playing! This superb tune/video reminds me quite a bit of one I really like by one of all of our most beloved guitarists -- a guy with unrealistic hair like a lion's mane, a perpetual, goofy grin, and an outspoken hatred for Kenny G -- that features a huge collection of varied, magical instruments that somehow play themselves.
A couple of days ago I was thinking about Jeff Beck's Scatterbrain not that I'm making a comparison but the idea when will there be a composition with that level of inventive playing and here we are great job really something
Following for years on insta I’m so glad to see that, it’s time to spread your talent ! So nice to see that guitarists haven’t lost their soul to bullshit hundreds of notes per second!

Kurt Rosenwinkel
Animals jazz leaders!
😂😂
but seriously, this track plus some distortion easily fits a vibe like that. plini, tosin, folks like that. let's get it done!
@@AidanMiles cheers man! don’t worry I have some plans ;)
Ha! So I'm not the only one who got that feeling. I hear such a nice early AAL vibe in that gorgeous main motif. Makes you feel like you're floating in space.

Your note choice and clarity is other worldly. Candy for the ears

Sounds perfect as a God. Thank you👍🙏
Very nice work. I eagerly await more from this trio...
Just wow - a new league on it's own.
H is indeed. The first guitarist I've ever seen that can go head to head with the best hornsmen. That's saying something.
So many words to describe this music! Beautiful, inspiring, intelligent, intense, skilled, talented, creative, awesome, artistic, to name but a few! 💯👍
Instantly recognizable, that's what makes him one of the greatest guitarists of this new young generation.
Brilliant. Love the piano. I don’t listen to much Yvette Young but the first thought that crossed my mind was “Yvette Young meets Tigran Hamasyan” 😄
This effects me like the first time I heard… Return to forever Romantic warrior, and the Pat Metheny group. The way up.

Didn't know Paul Dano was so good at guitar and songwriting !
Outstanding and beatiful.
Simply amazing!!!!!

So when’s the tour with Mancuso/Lage happening?
Wonderful!
Listening to great music like this makes me desire to study more to appreciate better what's going on here!!
a lot of Tigran Hamasyan on the piano!! Beautiful composition!
💙
Young Lions pushing the envelope.👍
Love it! The intro loop reminds me of one of the music tracks (Moonsiders 1) on Tekken 7.

Excellent. I foresee Josh adding a few brass players for even more epic recordings in the future!
Amazing, congratulations for your performance !!
Josh, and his music, is the exact opposite of my experience with my family because Josh never disappoints 🤟
The ad lib part reminded me of my favorite song, Proto Cosmos, it's so cool! I love it!!
Amazing tune mate. You’re playing is out of this world. Can’t wait for the trio album.
Cheers Brad! coming soon!
Love from 🇮🇳
Is the bass the part being played by the keyboardist? Or dubbed in after?
Yep played by Matt on keys usually, however I think for this studio take Matt overdubbed :)
Blessed by the RUclips suggested algorithm. Amazing work
A couple of days ago I was thinking about Jeff Beck's Scatterbrain not that I'm making a comparison but the idea when will there be a composition with that level of inventive playing and here we are great job really something
Wow.
Phenomenal Joshua. Thank you for this brilliant piece of art 😍

Wonderful!! Such a blast of a composition and performance!! So good!! You guys ROCK!!!
YES: another tune to listen a hundred time... the two previous ones where on loop haha! (sorry for my english!)

I think it could be really well-fitted for a metal version
Wow ! Amazing ! Beautiful thanks to share with us your world
