This time, we're covering the PDW-57.
Another fictional weapon, the PDW is a futuristic derivative of the P90: this weapon previously present in all of the Modern Warfare titles.
The PDW-57 - or Personal Defence Weapon, 5.7mm calibre - is relatively similar to its parent design, with a few minor cosmetic changes when compared to the Belgian P90.
Outlandish in appearance, the P90 and PDW designs share the same top-loading magazine - an unconventional feed mechanism, but one capable of holding 50 rounds of the unusual 5.7 by 28 millimetre cartridge.
This cartridge fires a smaller bullet at higher velocity, for a similar kinetic energy to a typical SMG: but with far better penetration characteristics against modern military body armour.
The PDW-57 is a high damage SMG, capable of killing in just 3 shots to the body at a close range.
The MSMC has a slight edge in damage, but in practical terms the PDW is similarly powerful.
Outside the weapon's short range you'll need 6 shots to kill: a hefty differential, making close-range engagements a necessity to make the most of this SMG.
Rate of fire is a moderate 750 rounds per minute - slow by typical SMG standards, but part of the price you pay for a higher damage weapon.
With Rapid Fire this will be elevated to 940 rounds per minute, on par with the MP7 - but you lose much of your damage potential through a loss of much of your effective range.
Hipfire performance is good - on par with all other SMGs, although you may see less consistent performance than those weapons with a higher fire rate.
Recoil is moderate - burst firing is essential at a longer range, although given the lower damage it may be best to avoid such gunfights altogether.
Aim time is 200 milliseconds, standard for the SMG class: as is your movement speed, at 100% base.
Magazine capacity is excellent, holding true to the P90's tradition: the translucent top-loading magazine holds 50 rounds by default, more than any other SMG.
Extended clip takes this capacity to a loftier 65, although given that reloads are only a little slower than average - at 2.59 seconds - 50 rounds is generally sufficient.
The PDW-57 is a potent close-range weapon that has a versatile blend of attributes for close-quarter gunfights.
With 50 rounds in the magazine, you've essentially got extended clip for free: and paired with good hipfire performance and a higher level of damage, the PDW is a top-tier contender in aggressive play.
However, the PDW loses any advantage outside of its effective range - at a mid range you have moderate recoil and a 5-6 shot kill to contend with, giving the advantage to opponents with weapons better suited for such distances.
The slower rate of fire can be a liability too - while you deal more damage per shot than most other SMGs, this also means accuracy becomes more critical: relying on hipfire may yield inconsistent performance.
Still, the PDW is no slouch when it comes to closer quarters: you'll still fare better than most weapons outside of the SMGs and shotguns.
With a build that favours tactical SMG play over unchecked aggression - you can instead take a subversive approach, turning enemy equipment into fuel for your own scorestreaks.

If this gun wasn't nerfed it would be my all time favorite gun. Big magazine,low recoil,good damage and range,not too slow of a reload time.
I used to use the following class with it.

Adjustable Stock.
Extended Clip.
Blue Perk.

Green Perk.
Sacavger.
Red Perk
Engineer.
Secondary Weapon.
Five-Seven.
LETHAL EQUIPMENT.

I like using Fast Mags on the PDW. (Yeah, I’m still watching these in 2020. I can’t believe it either.) The Fast Mags reload animation for this gun is very sleek.
I agree on everything about the stock, as it will throw off most players shots while shooting. I like the stock best on this gun than any other minus the lmg's.

Very interesting build for the PDW, gonna try it this evening. I usually went Stock, Supressor and fast grip with it and rushed like crazy.

Grayson Bailey mine is pdw with suppresoor and laser and secondary as bazooka
+Grayson Bailey My class is the same except I use Long Barrel instead of the suppressor so I can get even more 3 hit kills. I think the mp7, vector k10 or scorpion evo would be much better choices with the suppressor because of the higher rate of fire.

Its based off the P90. The Selector switch is in yhe front of the trigger. And the grips are shaped diffrent. But yhe general gun is the same

They increased the recoil a little bit and also widened the hipfire spread, same with the MSMC too.

i would take eotech sight over the suppressor, but suppressor is good, im not very good w/ pdws sight
laser sight, reflex, and stock for the best rushing class.
Ean Gdaniec Laser sight and suppressor is my loadout for the PDW when rushing. Works best on Nuketown.

I LOVE the idea of this build. In my opinion, it only has a single problem: the PDW. I use this exact build, however I replace the PDW with the Peacekeeper instead. I’d say the Peacekeeper works better with this build, given its lower recoil, and more importantly its assault rifle-grade penetration, aiding in killing through walls via the MMS.

PDW-57 is actually an Personal Defense Weapon Build of the AR-57, with the similar magazine used on the FN P90 TR International Model used in just about every Special Operations Group or Mercenary Corporation.

I switched out the MMS because I had a lot of recoil when using it, so I put a suppressor instead.
Stay away from the suppressor on this. Hurts the range, which is the only reason the PDW is a kickass gun.

also I would get rid off stock since it is smg it does not recquire it

wait wait... how exactly do you extend the ammo on this weapon? the mag is as long as the weapon frame.
Really enjoy playing the "builds" and found this one especially enjoyable. Quite a nice counter to all of the normal run and gun builds. This one was great fun. Thank you for the awsome video.

I'm all about the PDW in black ops 2. Running and gunning is my favorite playstyle and this gun suits it perfectly. Its great for CQC with quickdraw, a silencer and the ghost perk.
He said on his other channel that he focuses on getting the gun maxed out in prestige 2. if he has the class in his mind before he uses it, he will use it when he can but if its an attachment like extended mags or something later in the unlocks, he may not have much time to use it before he records more than enough gameplay.

As somebody who was driven away from call of duty with mw2 and took up bad company 2, all the options he talked about in this video almost make me want to play this game.

Man... this game is still fun even after all these years - excluding the lobbies with hackers/modders.
I have a stealth build with the PDW-57, actually. I prefer this SMG over the others with it's distinctive 50-round magazine - so that I don't need to add Extended Mags, and can instead add an attachment that helps with reaction time. I like the Quickdraw Handle more than the Adjustable Stock, since the latter only provides a boost to an already fast enough ADS strafe-speed.

nice, i didn't know about this gun, but you can clearly see that the PDW-57 is just an imagined, smaller and civilian version (although having 50 rounds wouldn't be for civilians) of the AR 57 which is obviously inspired by the belgian FN P90.

Guys for an anti-camper class try pdw with fmj & QuickDraw. Ghost, scavanger, engineer. Emp grenade, 2x blackhat. This is a camper's nightmare. :)
I agree with you, and I'm also a bit annoyed for not showing gameplay of his classes. But the reason why some classes are bad is because he wants to have some variety. It's easy to recommend a class for ARs with quick draw and fast mags or an LMG class with target finder because they gain the most advantage from them but you see it all the time and sometimes they are even annoying. Sorry or bad English, not my native language.

I love this gun I want it back!! It also has the best iron sights in cod history in my opinion!
