When you buy up everything but you have no idea what to do with it. May be these companies need to take a step back and stop buying up everything then tying actually creative peoples hands behind their back.
The strangest part is the psychology. Everyone from the console makers to game developers truly believe that by forcing "inclusion" into everything then they're gonna make more money than they did from the customers they pushed out. Their confusion is genuine. They now make everything for everyone, so why are sales collapsing? They don't understand that the people they're now pandering to never intended to be viable customers. Those people just wanted to get off on forcing their will onto everyone else.
No. The people heading the companies were promised by the people in charge they will be rewarded even if the company fails. And they obeyed because the actual people in charge can destroy you when you tell them no.
They dogma will be pushed at any cost.

Blackrock and Vanguard are calling the shots. They told the companies that if they didn't push the DEI then they were going to be bankrupted in response. They're doing this just to stay afloat a little longer.

1. Gamepass is stupid and has always been stupid; it lowers sales and devalues games. 2. Why are they closing smaller studios and trying to fire production and QA, two key groups of employees, instead of addressing their trash expensive studios that have failed, like 343 industries, whoever is doing gears of war, and whoever is making the trash new fable.

Agreed. Their massive studios made Halo & gears of War worse, but those studios remain open while studios that actually made good games (smaller studios) get shut down. And MS could have sold these studios to keep the employees employed, but they would rather close them & lay-off all the employees just to prevent their competition from acquiring them. F'n pathetic.

They never had any creativity. Even Halo was originally going to be on Mac computers until Bungie sold out to them.
they started out with a bought Operating System, sold it to IBM, and wriggled so they could sell it with minor changes to others.

It's a needed adjustment, one that many big companies will face in the near future. It's one thing to be idealistic, but what was being forgotten is that without profits, you can't pay for it. So many big companies are so bloated with useless departments, useless people and useless policies (HR/DEI being ground zero for most of this) that they're now toppling over from the weight.

Sounds like the studios that just got closed was a Zenimax / Bethesda decision. Obviously MS HQ was in on it, and told them to tighten the belt, but the decision on which teams got cut, and who will be rolled into other groups was made by Bethesda
These individual companies under the Microsoft Xbox banner still all have their own individual leadership and management, and their own budgets.

On the HW side it doesn't help that they can't implement HDMI-CEC so people with newer TV with Soundbars can't enjoy their TV set as it should be.

Microsoft claiming that they support their game Devs Independence is utter BS. Most of these studios they closed were single player game Developers. Microsoft buys them and all of a sudden they are making On-line only games as a service videogames. Does that sound like "Independence" to you? No, Microsoft forced these companies to make rushed On-line only games so that MS could push their game pass subscription service and then LIED about it.
The main problem in my opinion is Xbox Game Pass, it is great value for the consumer but a terrible business model for the game studios.
Game Pass and its consequences have been a disaster for Microsoft Game Studios.

I don’t like PlayStation either. My Xbox is just used now for RUclips and prime. My Nintendo switch gets used daily, my wii/gamecube gets used daily.
Microsoft is the Disney of the gaming world, and it's indescribably satisfying to see both begin to go down in flames as their customers all get fed-up. People watch entertainment to be entertained. They play games to have fun. They look at art because they want to be moved by something beautiful. To quote uncle Walt: "We don't make movies to make money; we make money to make movies." Great advice from one of the greatest businessmen and entertainers of all time. A sentiment these corpos have forgotten.

I've always been a PlayStation kind of guy, and when it comes to PlayStation vs Xbox this isn't exactly how I wanted PlayStation to win. Then again it might be more of a tie with how things are going and not the good kind.

I don't think they'll stop making consoles personally. Microsoft has always had these problems since OG Xbox days, everyone can just now sees it now, Halo wasn't the only original Xbox IP but was the only surviving one. Microsoft even had their long forgotten OG Xbox Japanese mascot made by various former Sega devs at the time which surprise surprise was also quickly forgotten about. They've never been good at breaking into the Japanese market or building IPs, always been grossly incompetent at branding. The successes they have done have seemingly always been flukes to me because they've never really managed to capitalize on whatever good results/decisions they have made.
If Microsoft makes another game console. I have a huge feeling that no one will want to buy one. Let's face it. Microsoft should just leave the gaming industry forever and go back to making computer software. Unless they really really REALLY change up their game, fire all those who are responsible for these damaging decisions, rehire those who unfairly lost their game jobs and prove that they deeply and truly care about the gaming industry and gamers. And maybe. Just maybe win back our trust for XBOX
Subscription services is never sustainable for AAA releases. It’s like skipping blockbuster movies like Avengers from the cinema and straight to streaming, it will not generate money for that movie!

Nintendo has no involvement with Pokemon Go and makes little money from it. They mentioned this when their stock surged after its initial release.

Buying Activision was probably the dumbest thing that they ever did. They were trying to show off their balls sack by strutting around and throwing the money saying that I can buy it but it is a backfiring on them.

Hi-Fi Rush was on sale (again) on PS5, so I bought it. It's a fun game and I can already tell it was worth buying. Real mistake by Microsoft to close that studio. You build on IPs like that, not cut them off at the knees.

I’ve already dropped bring multiplatform yo be PC only, and I’m glad I did.
Just imagine in the age of Digital games and online services, after the crash there will be little in the way of usable media if you didn't already have it downloaded.
Since often boxed versions are just a download key finding a physical copy of anything you liked will be rare and even more expensive.
I remember when I got talked into getting game pass, didn't like it, didn't want it. But a friend of mine wanted to play a game I wouldn't buy. "Oh come on it's on Game pass. It's only 1$ for the starting month." Welp I broke down, got it. Regretted it and then I couldn't even get my old year subscription back. Instead of getting a guaranteed 60$ a year they wanted to try charging me 15 every month or whatever it costs... Yeah I stopped playing Xbox because I don't have my yearly live anymore.

I just cancelled my Game Pass because I don't play modern games much. I love the backwards compatibility and I'll play my favorites like Fable, original Prey and Unreal Championship: Liandri Conflict. No micro transactions, no live service and everything is on my discs.
Considering the "quality" of Bethesda titles the past decade or so, anyone who works in "Quality Assurance" for Zenimax probably should be fired, lol.
