- In one of our videos last season, we discussed "Hunting With A Second Focal Plane Optic" • Never Make This Mistak...
Quite a few of you asked about magnification to zero your rifle, so here's your answer.
Please keep the questions coming.

That's something that I've always wondered about, thanks.
Awesome. Now you know.
Great video buddy never hurts to listen to tips thank you
Thanks for watching
Yes sir never too old to learn things that can help with shooting and hunting 👍
@@carlwilliams6300 always learning.
With my 270WIN and 129gr LRX at 3100fps MV in average conditions,
With Turret set at:
Zero= 200m & MPBR: 250m
1MOA= 250m &MPBR:300m
2MOA= 300m
3MOA~ 350m
Very convenient deer rig.
I very much appreciate hunting MPBR most of the time with a flat shooting cartridge but always being geared up to calculate full solutions where needed. My kestrel D3 dumps current environmentals to chairgun ballistic app which dumps a drop sheet in 10m increments to my apple watch. So I can be as quick and approximate or as careful and precise with the fire solution as befits the situation.
Cheers!
Sounds like a great set up.
Are we supposed to comment with what we use?
@@HWG-wm8ld I think any form of engagement helps the content creator... so say what's on your mind.
It doesn't matter what magnification you are on, when you zero your rifle. But if you have any doubts, just zero at 100 yards on full magnification. Even 35x at 100 yards is no big deal, when you are zeroing your rifle. Easy peasy...
All day long. 👊🏻
Try not to break your position while shooting after every shot. you want to stay down on the gun run your bolt smooth and methodically. Not a good habit to break position every time.
Very true, it's a little different when you're doing a video. Thanks for watching.
Are you right handed but left eye dominant ?
Pretty sure he is right and right.
@@OutdoorSolutions Sure looks like he is sighting with his left eye thru that scope.
It sure looks like he’s using his left eye
@@kirkfitch4215 You're right it sure does. We checked and there is actually a Tactacam FTS on the scope itself, so the part in front of his left eye is the actual camera, he's looking through the objective with his right eye. Good catch.
But his left eye is closed, must be a magician.
Haha a "expert" says it not zeroed for me, doesn't work that way
LOL, this is one of our favorite things about the internet, people that try to make an insult but have no actual idea what they are talking about. You can zero your own rifle, have a friend shoot same rifle but have a different POI (that means Point of Impact) Different eye sight, different size person, different way of holding a rifle, different eye relief, the list goes on. Give it a try some time and thanks for watching.
Hey Adam, it’s “an” expert, not “a” expert. Maybe after taking some classes from outdoor solutions you can take a remedial English class.
Iam to busy shooting trying to find a gun that not zeroed for me
@@HWG-wm8ld 🤣🤣🤣
@@adammenke229 Adam, we are making one of our next video's just for you. Thank you for the idea! Be sure to stay tuned.
Scopes are zeroed to the rifle not to the individual shooting it.
Actually both are correct, it is zeroed to the rifle but you could have two individuals shoot the same rifle and have completely different POI, all depending on how they align cheek weld grip, their size, height, eye sight, among other factors. So you have to zero to the shooter as well.
@OutdoorSolutions if that were true how could gunwerks claim they are selling 1000yd rifles out of the box?
@@matt21945 Meaning once zeroed you can impact 1000 yards right out of the box. We shoot Gunwerks in our classes, they zero their rifles and your sight alignment might line up with whoever zeroed the rifle but odds are they are not going to be identical.
It’s definitely different
Would be a much better video if you 'proved' the answer to the question (by shooting) instead of just making a claim and then shooting for nothing.
HMM 🤔
It’s not a claim when scope manufacturer companies say it’s a fact……
@@JLC87420 I don't think you understand what a claim is. That being said, I know magnification doesn't matter to your zero, and maybe you know that too. But I'm not the one making a video asking that very question, I'm only trying to help this man improve it. Or maybe he's satisfied with 4k views on his videos idk.
@@whitesturgeon 😂😂😂 bruh he literally said someone asked the question and he answered it with what scope manufacturers say about second focal plane scopes. I think you need to replace your hearing aids.
@@JLC87420 This is obviously way over your head...even though what you are saying is true, you are misunderstanding the entire point. In other words, your IQ is around room temperature you should stop giving advice on the internet.
