- We are all living through an exceptional time. In late-2019, the world was rocked by COVID-19-a global pandemic that has changed the way we all live our lives. Millions of us around the world are staying indoors, practicing social distancing to protect ourselves, and others, from the disease. Our daily routines have been disrupted, and many of us have been separated from friends, family and work. We checked in on eight households to see how they are feeling, how they are passing the time, how they are keeping connected to others, and what they are looking forward to in a post-pandemic world. From Beijing, China, to Mashhad, Iran, to Melbourne, Australia, here’s how we’re all working through this thing, one day at a time, together.

The only difference between epidemics in the past and now is the advancement of Medicine and Internet. We have a long way to go against Corona and internet is keeping most of us sane.
There are also more people willing to help and support the community

I am a senior widow, no children, no family where I live, only my 6 balls of fur to keep me company; the phone only rings now & then, no one comes by, my state has very little paper products in the stores, there's no close places to walk, forget the beautiful mountains & forests, a woman isn't going to walk in them alone...but I don't think about me, I worry about the entire world! @@bachvandals3259 3 months? Its easy theres alot of things you can do when at home. Im not a newbie myself ive been home since i dont work for a year now and dont go out unless going to the grocery. You just have to be thankful that youre not exposed to the virus unlike others that need to go to work to save lives or a part of jobs that is essential in this time.
I'm happy at home, actually. Because at least I can spend time with my cats, I can sleep in without feeling guilty. The only bad part is that I may sadly graduate until next year because of the virus.

I try to put it into perspective by thinking of the victims of the polio epidemic who had to live in an iron lung for many years, etc.We have been so spoiled.

This is so true... especially for me and my siblings as we seemed to always fight over the stoves and knifes so now we have a different meal time to let everyone cook alternately
This just made me cry. For the first time in all of this I cried. It came from deep inside me. Somehow this video really touched me. Thank you! Let's come back holding on to all these new connections and let's take what we learned to make our world better, kinder, more equatable and sustainable. I was also struck by how diverse our families have become.

Going back to Scandinavia from tropical SouthAmerica i understood myself Reading how in the Bronze Age children very introvert avoided all dangers, animals and humans and survived producing this trait. I remember a history from 1918 where an introvert brother to a sister and older brother did not played INDOORS with them due to being introvert. When the spanish Flu arrived the sister and brother died. He survived. The Powers of the introverts are genetically trasmited for survival ! It Works!

Yes yes yes. I was thinking the same thing the entire time I was watching her. There's something about her, to me, that's just so alluring. She seems so posed and as the other person put, graceful. I quite liked learning about her, and her family, and listening to her speak about her life, and how they're handling everything. I thought it was also so wholesome that her, and her family all laid together in their family area reading books. It was so sweet and I loved it so much. I really love learning about other people, and their cultures and customs.
Everyone should watch this to gain perspective. we're all fighting this alone but together. Strong messages here.
So much privilege.......and none of the people are actually alone. This was a good story, but major chunks are missing. Poor. Disenfranchised. And those who actually live alone.
Happy for those who have these privileges - I am included -. But in reality in most parts of the world this is not the case. In Brazil for example (where I live), there are favelas, many homeless people and places where basic sanitation does not exist. In 2019, we had 13.3 million people living on a per capita income of less than $ 30 a month. And I know that around the world there are people living with even less, these people, my friend, will be hit hard by the corona, because they are not able to make an appropriate social isolation. I’ve been enjoying these type of documentaries in which people are living their lives in a time of self isolation and quarantines. It’s so interesting for me to see how everyone in the world are coping with spending a lot of time with themselves and their love ones.
I’m so glad for my roommates, who are also very close friends. I would go mad without them. Imagine isolation by yourself- and this is coming from an introvert.

I'm in Adelaide, South Australia, and I've been in isolation for around 60 days. I've been following the events of coronavirus since early January, warning people since back then even though I was ridiculed by many. I'm glad most are taking it seriously now and doing what they can to flatten the curve. We're all in this together.

No. We have bills to pay. We aren't heros. We have no choice in the matter. I know so many people at UPS that work there for the health insurance. Imagine you work a job because you need health insurance. Imagine working a second/third job to support your family. It's not heroic, it's survival.
I was having massive anxiety but this definitely helped me feel better. I love humanity; I am hopeful that we will come out of this as a stronger and more loving society :)

I've been in isolation for one year. My dad moved out. Then I blocked him. I only have one woman friend who comes once a month to take me to a doctor in another state. We call by phone about three times a week. I buy groceries two times a month. I buy toilet paper twice a year but been that way for years. I drive ten miles a month. Once I wondered if anyone would get curious about me if I didn't mow my portion of ground here in the trailer park and...nope no one came in three months. I'm disabled and 64. Not well and getting weaker. But it's ok such is life. I know I'm not the only one with this problem. Maybe I did more to cause it than I realize. Maybe.
There are many people who live simple. Yet it's the privilege lifestyle that is highlighted. It's the lifestyle that stimulates an economy. It isn't profitable to say most people stay in.

I'm from Vietnam. We started the quarantine pretty early, that combined with the fact that Covid-19 really blew up just after the Lunar New Year and me being a student as well as a shut-in, I can safely say that I've been inside for roughly 100 days, minus a few times I went outside for errands.

Greetings from Australia. We started our social distancing on the 16/3/20. I lost my job on the 18 and today is the 39th day into our practice. My initial reaction was how am I going to cope with all the time off, not seeing my family and friends going to church on a Sunday and dining out with my friends. It was ugly the first week, because of panic buying and my mind was exhausted by the constant bombardment of coronavirus on the news. In the first 2 weeks, I avoided going to supermarkets in the day time to avoid the crowd so I will only shop at night. I am actually enjoying the time of now off as I get to read more and spend time to
reflect on my life. What I have learned is that we do not need to surround ourselves with material things to be happy, I was just
contented reading, binge-watching once in a while and doing my 45 minutes exercise while watching The Chase.
I have faith that this bad phase that is affecting the world right now is temporary and our life will go back to almost normal. I pray for comfort and healing for those people who have been affected by this terrible virus. I thank God for always putting food on my table and a warm bed to lie down. Hopefully, when the dust has settled I will get my job back and when we can see our family again I am going to hug each and every one of them tight and let them know how much I have missed them. I will go to the shops and spoil myself a little and off to the restaurants to spend some money to help boost the economy.

honestly the most relaxing video I've seen in a while. It is always strange how nature has it's own way of bringing us closer to our loved ones and reminds us what humanity is. Before all this, I was running frantically stressed with my master's course work and as I was staying in my uni dorm I barely got time to call my parents.
obviously when this is over everyone will be contesting for masterchef.
I just realised, how I had been thinking of this quarantine period as a start of something new to stay positive and maintaining a healthy routine at home and suddenly realised how someone's journey ended as well.
It's so weird, how we share the same land and make it so different by just living.

life goal after quarantine, to instal a bathtub in my bathroom, i was only having showers for years so i didnt minded only to have a shower but now i miss so much just having a bath with all this free time, and i promise to my self to make time for a bath in the future

I'm an essential worker and I meet a lot of people that aren't take the quarantine/lockdown seriously and it scares me to see that these people aren't caring for anyone else health. It also saddens me to know that those in the hospital/nursing homes can't be visited by their families for fear of the virus spreading to them.

I'm at very high risk, living in Scotland UK and a filmmaker - I'd love to take part in something like this! It's day 35 of shielding social isolation here. And by that, I mean not leaving the house at all.
Even still, it might be good fun to document the journey anyway - I am sure this shall be a moment of great importance in our human history and to document it seems to be important, especially seeing as a lot of us have the means to. I hope everyone is staying safe out there.

I’m in korea and I haven’t been sticking to my quarantine routine since I’ve been going off to work and sometimes going to Pc cafes in order to finish off work..
Several things I do
I don’t leave the house if I don’t really need to,
I always wear masks and never take them off when outside,
And I never touch my face or eyes with my hands if they are unwashed.

Iranian Woman was the only one that brought up how we should be humble that we are still healthy. I love that perspective. I remind myself that while this “does suck”, I’m healthy, no kids to worry about, still employed (work in a lab), and I’m not working on the frontline.

i've realized a lot of things during this crisis..focusing on the world we live in, life, time, people etc. but after watching this vid, i've realized it on the kids' perspectives. how the innocent kids will remember this period of time...their innocence that do not normally see things as complicated but just simple moments..i bet they will remember this most as an opportunity on which they get to spend more time with their parents or family whom they didnt get to bond with before this crisis..

I think if there's one thing about this whole quarantine, is the amount of love, hope and joy as well as community everyone in the world has shown. I hope once this is over, we will all be able to take the lessons we learned with us as we all begin to heal. ❤

I've come across this video, and hearing about what happened, and is still happening, brings tears to my eyes. Tears of sadness for what was lost, but also of gratitude, for the moments that give me faith in humanity. My memories of those first weeks are as sharp as if they were yesterday's. The past three years have been a complete restructuring of our world, and the changing isn't over, as Covid is still active and becoming endemic. But I can look back and see where we've come from in that time. This video will be a snapshot into the early days of quarantine, a fragment of history told through people all over the world. I am proud to say that we've recovered enough to create our "New Normal", despite all that is left to be done. I will be able to say that I've survived our century's plague, to tell people to remember those who did not. Thank you, Great Big Story.

Its really cool to think that in the future, historians will look at these videos made during quarantine and study how we lived during this pandemic. We are all living in history. Please be safe everyone
All covid-19 had done for my family is pull each other further apart. My school really emphasises on academics so I had classes everyday. My brother had classes and tuitions, because he's in another school and honestly we weren't doing well at all, it's worse that both of us have a major exam this year and we're not sure if we can take it. My mom holds a pretty high position at her job, but she doesn't really make enough even though she puts more effort than anyone else, she even work through the night with meetings scheduled almost every hour. COVID-19 didn't help with our family relationship, rather, it did the opposite.

Luckily i'm live with my mum,sister,bro and my nephew. Most of my time working from home,watching Drama,help my nephew with school homework (online class with his teacher). and right now, i already watch most of kdrama and maybe after this chinese mainland drama. don't worry, ramadhan will coming. so, i have more times for praying and read quran
