      Two Silverados 2011 and 2018. Always had GM or fords. The last Silverado was my nail in the coffin. The camshaft went flat after the 4-6-8 lifter guide plates broke and allowed the rollers to turn 90 degrees at 41,000 miles. Then at 120,000, the transmission shit the bed to the tune of $9000 to rebuild. I’m never buying a Chevy again. I don’t care if they give them away. LOVE MY NEW TUNDRA LIMITED! I put a pro grille on it, a 2” leveling kit and 35s. Happy guy.

    Great review. Not really a Toyota fan. Am a Ford. But I did buy my first Toyota, the 2023 Tacoma because F150s have jacked up their price way too much, it's not even justified. It was just to make up the lost during covid year(s). I am very happy with my Tacoma, however, for a smaller truck (body wise) it uses more gpm than my previous F150 ecoboost 2.7. I get it, it's because of the 3.5 engine probably, right? That's where the F150 ecoboost was better. Without the lost of power, because of the supercharge engine.

    Couple of things that keep me from buying a Tundra (even though I live in San Antonio);
    1. One of the main reasons I’d want a 4x4 truck is, down here, it doesn’t rain often so when it does roads are as slick as green owl sh*t and the Ford and Chevy/GMC 4x4s have a 4 Auto setting you can use in slippery conditions at highway speeds- the Tundra only has 4 Hi and Low and can’t be used on highway;
    2. I’d want the TRD Pro but it’s a lower volume production spec- most dealers have 1-3 on the lot- Toyota doesn’t do custom orders and so the dealers all do markup.

    I owned a ‘23 Limited for a while and traded it. The MAX powertrain has good power, the hybrid system is very well integrated, it looks great, love the big 14” screen, JBL stereo is above average, and the platform is solid.
    But there is way too much plastic looking/feeling materials that look like something you’d see on a prototype, the fake engine noise gets a bit old, excessive wind noise, suspension isn’t refined, and just lots of rough edges that need finishing.
    By comparison, the big 3 just feel way more polished and refined. Not to say the Tundra doesn’t have a lot going for it, but they can, and should, do much better.

    I own a Gen3 Raptor I have driven nothing but Raptors since they first came out and I actually stopped at a few lots in metro Detroit area that had TRD pros in stock and everyone I saw was more then the 75K I paired for my Gen3 Raptor. If it was cheaper this would definitely be a truck to compare to a Raptor but the suspension on this is no where close to the raptors if the price was lower. These are good looking trucks tho

    I have kind if wondered the same thing. Why don't these trucks, made right he in America get more respect. OK other than that.
    I just purchased the 1794 edition, with the TRD package and the Hybrid engine, in the Smoked Mesquite color. OMG this is by far the best truck, comparing it to the Chevy/GMC, Ford, and the Dodge. And even tho I got the 1794 edition...less money than the other 3 for comparable equipment. And get this. I have had (just sold my Ford F250 SD 1999 Lariat package to get this.) One of the best things happen to me just last weekend. As I was getting ready to get into my rig. There was another truck that was coming down the street (residential) and the guy hit his breaks hard and pulled up even with my truck. And he zipped down his windows and ask, 'Is that your truck?' I told him yes it was, and he said that this was the best looking 'Toyota' truck that he had seen. He said he had even owned a couple of different Tundras in the past. I said thank you amd we proceeded to talk the truck talk for a few minutes.
    To the video...I fo agree with you, they are a great looking truck. And will admit that the 1794 edition interior is what set the hook in me but the color and the HP of the Hybrid engine is what sold me on this truck. IT has more HP than what my 1999 Ford F250 with the V10 had. Way more almost 100HP more than a V10 in this V6. Damn! I love this thing.

    You can now get the Limited with most of the TRD Pro's hardware. I wish they would offer the full-time 4-wheel option for the Limited, as they do with the Tacoma Limited and 4-runner Limited. I prefer the Limited over the TRD Pro because you can get the Limited without the hybrid and thus have that storage space under the rear seat. Plus, you can now add all the off-road stuff to the Limited package.

    Toyota has had their mechanical issues recently and they still charge a mint for average vehicles. There's a class action lawsuit against Toyota here in Aus for continually selling cars with faulty engines. My 2019 Camry has had a new transmission replace last year and let me tell you, it was hell because Toyota would not cover the cost even though it was under warranty. I'll take the Raptor thanks.

    80k isn’t horrible when compared to the domestics. Problem is, no one pays the sticker price for a domestic. I haven’t heard of anyone paying anything less than sticker (or close to it) on one of these. That and the 5-7% finance rates from Toyota vs. promo rates that the domestics offer makes this a non-starter for most.

      Yup when the fan boys crow about resell value they forget that they paid a lot more in interest and sales price upfront. Maybe that's why the domestics don't hold their resell value since a new can be had for a good deal 🤔

    How bad is the turning radius? I'm concerned that downtown Toronto parking lots will be off limits for this truck, both from a fit, maneuvering, and height perspective. It's limiting from that perspective.

    • @bishop4077
      @bishop4077 3 месяца назад

      So I own an F150 an height is the biggest issue. My truck is 6 feet tall (3-4 inches shorter than the truck in video) The Tundra shouldn't be to much longer or wider than my Ford. Just gotta know your vehicle and be prepaired to make 20 point turns. Plus the Tundra has a 360 degree camera system

    • @bishop4077
      @bishop4077 3 месяца назад

      I should add I live and work in down town Toronto. Know your height and just watch your mirrors / cameras. The biggest issue is always height. Turning radius isn't going to matter in these tight condo or office parking garages. I've even seen much smaller jeeps struggle with some parking garages.

    • @bishop4077
      @bishop4077 3 месяца назад +1

      So, we have a work vehicle. Turboed 3.5l Ford. It has done 300,000 km with standard service and have never had a turbo issue. I've owned 2 turbo trucks and with regular server have never had an issue. All big rigs have turbo and have had since probably the 80's. Is it possible a turbo will fail? Sure. Is it likely? Depends on how you drive it and if the maintenance is done on time .

    I’ve went to the website and built my preferences into the Tundra. The things that keeps me from being even slightly interested is the price and engine configuration. I went to the Ram site and built my preferences into a Ram 3500 with the high output diesel and it’s only $3k more. I can work the Ram but this tundra will not haul enough weight. It’s more of a cool parking lot truck. Looks good at stop lights and that’s about it.
