I had this exact thought when it first came out but recently have been proven wrong. I don’t think you understand how good the engineering is for this. It adds an extra dynamic to electric cars. Their idea is making EV’s fun to drive. Trust me, this is a car you need to experience in person because the video doesn’t do justice at all. Would I choose this over an ICE car? Absolutely not. But if I had to drive electric I would choose this over any other electric car. I recommend watching Throttle House‘s review on this vehicle they do a good job describing how it feels
Ioniq 5 owner here, I sat in an N and thought it was very cool. But this feature is trash, it sounds like a Roblox car game and the tachometer is completely irrelevant. As long as it can be turned off I may still get an N.
You gotta admit, a 90s arcade game sound effects in a real car is bonkers. Pretty sure you would have a lot of fun hooning around in it. Put Riiiiiidge Raceeeeer on for the music. Epic.

Man, i‘m so glad my EV has a „silent“ mode with no noise at all. I don’t bother anybody more than necessary (tire noise aren’t preventable), and i can driv3 8n peace and silence. Until someone „revs“ their HYUNDAI at the lights aside of me….
Like it or not an engine sound even if it's artificial help the driver gets feedback from the car. Silent EV is like playstation joystick without rumbles

The stationary bit fooled me into thinking it was legit an old school hybrid setup because of the fake rev counter. That's so cheesy it's awful. EVs still have a motor, and still make a sound of sorts, I'm sure the acoustics on the more powerful ones could be set up so that you get a bit of resonance or something so you get the sensation of a motor that means business, albeit nothing like a really nice ICE.
As much as i dont love what it sounds like, gotta hand it to em, it sounds like it would. That low, rising tone after letting off the brake on that launch sounds pretty cool its just odd that they didnt throw in a dual-clutch sound track in there. Have ya "shifting" like a performante
