    Another great video, Jerry. You CAN check out parks ahead of time. We use Google maps in the satellite mode. That way you can see the layout of the park and the sites (as well as the path TO the park). Admittedly, you may have to call them to figure out site numbers, but in the case of Tom Sawyers you would have seen that other section!! Travel on.......

    • @iLoveRVlife
      @iLoveRVlife  5 лет назад +1

      We do that too and agree it's helpful. . Interesting though, the Google maps showed this campground under water from the flood earlier this year.

    The boat pushing the barges is actually called a tow boat and the barges are the tow. I grew up about 70 miles south of West Memphis, on the river, and spent a lot of time sitting on the banks of the river watching the tow boats.

    • @iLoveRVlife
      @iLoveRVlife  4 года назад

      It was quite a site to see Kent. For a few minutes, I was that kid running along the banks watching the tow boats.

      I Love RV Life Another thing that might interest you to know is that one of the worst maritime disasters in the country happened near there between Memphis and Marion AR after the civil war ended when Union prisoners we're being moved back home. I won't go into detail but if you're interested Google the Sultana disaster.

    Jerry, we just took a trip to St. Augustine and stayed in the Ocean grove rv park, it wasn't very impressive to me, the sites are tight and close together, the streets are to narrow to pull out of the site and turn towing the rig, the only amenities that they have that are useable is the pool and bar.
    We had a premium pull through site.

    • @iLoveRVlife
      @iLoveRVlife  5 лет назад

      Frank Mitzen sorry to here you didn’t enjoy Ocean Grove and St. Augustine. We’ve found it’s one of the better beach campgrounds.

      I’m sure the area has changed a bit. We were on some rough roads this trip. I snapped a spring hanger on the way home. The joys of the US highway system.

    Jerry, a couple of things about this video. First and foremost... Thanks for the walk a round. I had plans to stay there but had to cancel the entire trip. It was nice to see want the place really looks like and we will make plans to stay there again soon I hope. Now... the lighting on your video could use a little boost. Your face is just to dark to see you good. Maybe you could use a small light on your camera or face into the lightest part of the sky. Also, you have the money, buy you the new drone from DJI. The DJI MINI. It is not that expensive and would make some great images for you. I would like to see what you can do with it. You do not have to register it with the FAA but you do need to keep it below 400ft. Thank you a ton for taking time to do these videos. They are packed with information and very much appreciated, good luck to you.

    • @iLoveRVlife
      @iLoveRVlife  5 лет назад

      Thanks Tommy. Lighting bit me on my opening. I missed my sun angle. I have a DJI drone and use from time to time and have a FAA license. Was really frustrated this trip. 90% of the outdoor places we toured wouldn’t allow. Gave up and left in the RV this trip. Just one of the challenges of touring national parks and city destinations. Really appreciate the comments and tips. Always glad to share our adventures.

      Shoulder seasons are good. Late spring, mid fall. Keep an eye on the spring rains. The area has a tendency to flood.

    That one section is designed for 5th wheels because of the rear windows and the other section for motorhomes with front windows. It is ashamed that it floods so often.

    • @iLoveRVlife
      @iLoveRVlife  5 лет назад +1

      None that we saw Tim. They reopened a few months ago. A few of the drainage ditches were being worked on and a little more gravel on the roads would have been nice, but that was minor. Very convenient for access to Memphis.
