      Holy are traces of that size hard to get a good solder to, but I was able to test it on some other junk board's similar-sized traces, and it turned out good and should be a reliable fix with the wires being able to carry enough resistance. New hdmi port is coming in. That will be the easy part though.

      @@heh_boaner I don't agree with it. And for your information the PS5 shown in this video is not under warranty. On top of that I have seen manufacturers swapping whole part (like motherboard) instead of one problematic segment, and then recycling it just for a small defect. That whole process is absolutely unnecessary if seen from an environmentalist point of view.

    I've replaced about a half dozen of these fan connectors just like this. These surface mount connectors are not very durable and will very easily rip the pads right off the PCB. Through-hole for life!

    • @arturoperez3826
      @arturoperez3826 Год назад +1

      Would you say this is an easy repair? I might have to buy my own soldering gear on Amazon and give it a go. The video made it look simple

    • @bjn714
      @bjn714 Год назад +2

      @@arturoperez3826 it's probably not something I'd recommend for a first timer, as the PCB is a bit thick with multiple layers and sucks up a lot of heat before solder will even melt, so a lot of care needs to be taken to not melt the connector or other plastic components and also if there is any damaged traces, it becomes a little (or potentially a lot) more difficult. But it's definitely more friendly to replace than any of the ICs, so it could be worth trying, though if you do more damage in the process, it could cost even more to repair the results. You'll have to weigh the benefits vs the risks. Also I'd recommend practicing on some e-waste first just so you can get used to soldering on thick multi-layered pcbs.

    • @arturoperez3826
      @arturoperez3826 Год назад +1

      @@bjn714 that was very helpful, thank you! I got a quote from a place saying the repair would be $250 and that seems like way too much for this work (which if you know how to solder looks very simple and fast). Half the price of my PS5 is crazy. Another guy quoted me for $130 which is more reasonable but still very pricing in my not so well known knowledge of soldering.

    • @bjn714
      @bjn714 Год назад +3

      @@arturoperez3826 the disassembly and reassembly of the system would generally be included in this price, which is where most of the damage done by consumers tends to occur-attempting to open the system. That also takes time, which isn't free. The $130 quote is pretty close to what I'd charge for such a repair, including disassembly and reassembly, assuming no pads were ripped off. If I was just being asked to replace the connector and am being provided with an already disassembled motherboard, I'd probably charge about $60 (again assuming the solder pads were intact enough to solder to), but that also comes with an "as-is" warranty disclaimer, since I wouldn't be the one who put the system back together, where further damage could occur.
      It would definitely be cheaper to do yourself but that's also where 99% of these repair videos end up coming from-someone with no experience who thought it looked simple enough, tried, and failed to do it themselves and then ended up just selling it for cheap on ebay to recoup at least some of the value. That's why I mentioned if you really want to try it, I'd find some e-waste you can practice on first, since you don't want the very first thing you try to solder to be your PS5.

    • @arturoperez3826
      @arturoperez3826 Год назад +1

      @@bjn714 thank you man, you’ve been very helpful and explained everything well which I appreciate it!
      Yeah I was thinking something like $50-60 would be fair because I know how to take it apart and reassemble it myself cuz I’ve done it a few times, the only issue is just that the fan connector is loose so the connection isn’t stable. If I put force in the connection and have all the pins touching, the fan works, it’s just about holding it in place where I believe just soldering it down to establish the stable connection would be enough. That’s why those prices given to me was a bit baffling to me but it made a bit more sense since you mentions the disassembly and reassembly part.
      Your suggestion on practicing on ewaste is very helpful and maybe something I will try if I can’t find a place with a decent price, in the meantime I still have my PS4 Pro but the downgrade is very noticeable coming from a PS5 😅

    ⛔️READ⛔️
    Me and my friends have all been getting overheating problems on old and new PS5‘s. After taking it apart we all discovered the same thing: the liquid metal was completely uneven. After respreading it the PS5 was back to normal, even after intense performance testing the cooler was as quiet as on day 1.
    For MOST of you guys, you do not need to clean your ps5 if it’s visually clean (no signs of dust accumulation). You also do not need any external products. The PS5 is easily capable of running high-end games on maximum graphics but the LIQUID METAL FLAW is significant.
    Legal action needs to be taken since we are very sure this is the main problem for all the overheating issues. Sony did answer but they do not care and offered a $300 repair after sending them the pictures.

      When you try to clean the fans, or remove them and not pulling the white part of the connector, but the yellow one, which is soldered on the Motherboard. Can't think of much else.

    I need your help. I just got my playstation from a shop and they showed that my cpu had a dry spot and literally left a mark on it. Only had it within a year and says that was the main cause of the overheating and when he tested playing The Finals, it would immediately go into overheat. Other games are fine. What do I do?
