Living in a shared house in Birmingham, UK, in 1999, a friend had copied Moon Safari to all the housmates (3 Norwegians, a Welsh man, and an islandic). The Welsh man (still my close friend) and I tried to put the CD on at the same time in all the different bedrooms (when everyone else were out) so that we could walk through the house with the album playing everywhere. We didn't quite succeed. 🤪🤭🥳
People sadden me. Always concerned about the skin color, the flag they are under, their 'ethnic' heritage. Americans are bad but Europeans are worse. Just enjoy the music. Our eardrums are the same color and came from the same ancestors.
Back in 1998 I found this CD playing in an Urban Outfitters. I asked the guy who it was and bought the CD right then and there. 25 years later, AIR is still my favorite band, they are tattooed on my leg, and i have one of the largest AIR collections. I even have an old Virgin Megastore poster that was on display, and one night the security guard let me in this little room and said"The cameras are off, TAKE IT". Its huge and mounted on poster board. I had to take a 30 buck cab ride home that night. I have other displays from other record stores too. Was lucky enough to see 3 of their shows in Chicago. I waited for 6 hours at the door so I could pee, and then get to the stage before the crowd got there. I went to the shows alone as none of my friends liked them as much as I did. I'm so sdad i'm stuck here in America and cant go to the shows in Europe. And sold out too!! This album will always be #1 to me.
I do, but it's new to me. I didn't hear it in the US during the song's heyday. I'm forever grateful to Doctor Mix for featuring it on his video of great vocoder songs.
it was a dream pill from the beginning of the millennium.. i was lost on this album for a good three years.. another one was odyssey through O2 by jarre.. i was inure to the world
I saw you in Rome. Probably one of the best concert I've seen in my life. I bought Moon Safari same year that came out. It is something that you never get used to... Everytime, brings you in a trip with the all related feelings, like a flame that burns and is not consumed
DJ Professor Dan Rates & Reviews The Hits Of The 90s! From the album - "Moon Safari" that made everything from Moogs to glockenspiel cool again, it's Air (French Band) and "Kelly Watch The Stars." A year earlier, in 1997, The Onion published an article "U.S. Dept. Of Retro Warns: 'We May Be Running Out Of Past'" in which they argued that "the U.S.'s exponentially decreasing retro gap is in danger of achieving parity with real-time historical events early in the next century, creating what leading retro experts call a "futurified recursion loop," or "retro-present warp," in the world of American pop-cultural kitsch appreciation." The success of Air's "Moon Safari" album in 1998 indicated that (a) the "futurified recursion loop" was far closer than even they feared, and that (b) the problem wasn't only limited to the United States. Part of the problem of course was that the pop culture of 20 years prior to 1998 was largely based on imagining life in the future, the future then being around the year 2000. Consequently any artists feeling nostalgic for their past, was also, simultaneously, dreaming about the future. There may also have been a sense of disappointment, of the potential of paths not travelled, of 'where's my hoverboard/holidays on the moon?" involved in the mix somewhere. It was the perfect time therefore, for Air (French Band) to give us the future we had dreamed about back when we were children watching Astro Boy. "Kelly Watch The Stars" is the sound of that dream. "Kelly Watch The Stars' is a 10.

What an awesome idea

I REALLY don't understand why Europeans are SO obsessed with what country you are from? Great music is great music
Great experience. BUT What happened to good music like this?
@@markfromct2because apart from music we love and live cultural mixture and knowing the origins help us to apreciate this things even more😊
These songs are gold. They mark a very emotional special phase. The good old days. 💜✨

My goodness, i am falling down a sonic nostalgia hole!
Haven't listened through this in 20 years

Wow. That is another level of being a fan.
They are fantastic
I remember feeling like that about bands and different people. These days, I no longer idolize anything or anyone. Still, I don't regret the trip.
This just slays me and reminded me of Donna Louise ❤ Love you Donna Louise now and forever time ❤❤❤😊
I was a kid when listening to these songs. I have grown so much before returning to my childhood memories
😢 they hit hard and different, right in the nostalgia when listening to them after several years.
It feels so good listening to them. I always wondered what they were called when I grew up. I was like. Mum what were those songs we used to listen to
Like literally she would have them on the car when we were travelling.
Sounds like a great memory ✨
