@Walter it's just the repetitive saying with the melody to it... Chill out, mate
Not glorifying. Illustrating the horror musically, but not endorsing. Brilliant.
This band creates masterpieces and heartbreak. The moment the depiction of the victims starts...., the ones who died hugging, the ones who died alone with nobody to hold in their arms, the pain of the poison burning their internal organs... This band pays tribute to the victims in such a way, by the end of the song, i was crying loud. This is the most unique band i accidentally found... These guys amaze you and break you... The best depiction of the awful atrocity that happened. The music is so unique, i feel like i am in another dimension and i hear extrasterestrial music. This music is insanely original. Thank you for the art!

First of all, I love them. Very intelligent and creative. They use the things that these individuals said in their lyrics but she does it in her own way/style. The videos give you a window into what happened but again, they use their own style to do this and it's hauntingly brilliant.
I liked the way she answered some questions that were thrown her way at a Golden Gods award show by the way. She handled it perfectly because yes, the possibility of carrying out such horrific acts is in all of us (whether we want to admit it's there or not, it is.)
Second, even after the Jim Jones situation, it seems like people refuse to learn from it. Cults still happened (like with Marshall Applewhite) and are currently happening right now.
Not only is their music amazing and I can't get enough of it but it is truly informative. Maybe younger people who like this will learn from it as well. If someone found this group and didn't know about these things that happened, I hope this will lead them to research what happened in these horrible situations and avoid the hell out of it. Or, maybe lead someone into the field of psychology which would be awesome. I see so much creativity here mixed with facts and she tells each story perfectly. ❤
first time i saw 'Gary Heidnik' was kinda random but i LOVED the video and then i read the comment. This guy explained it all. Why the lyric is like that, why the chorus is like that and why video is not so much as real as it should be. But i was like - noone has done this before and i love it!

What a wickedly intelligent breakdown. The wickedness is in all of us, you decide to stamp it out. People always asked me why I was so into history, its because I want to learn about other people and cultures mistakes and not repeat them. Humanity is stupid if we can't learn this golden rule. Question everything, seek the truth.

I love SKYND and I love this song, but damn, this one hurts to listen to. I listened to the audio recording of the Jonestown massacre and I can't remember ever being so deeply disturbed in my life. Fantastic song. Very difficult to listen to. SKYND portrayed the horror of this so well. I love how the victims are covered by white sheets and Jim Jones is seen as this foreboding shadow. The people living in Jonestown were very good, peace loving people. And Jim Jones was a fucking monster.

As much as I loved the first album (and weirdly learnt a lot about serial killers), you made it to a whole new level here. The picture is incredible. I will have to make researches to get all the references and rewatch it a few times but damn you people gave me shivers more than any movie in a long time. I wish I could show that to my family without them giving me the eye.
I know right? Yet my family watches murder mystery and 20/20... without blinking an eye...
@David delseray-pousse, really want to see how well they captured it, listen to the almost 50 minute recording of the event. I pulled up the FBI transcripts and listened to the tape, then listen to skynd's video it will give you major chills.
@@mooseBanner Yeah I looked around for documentaries. Already have a grasp of what the good preacher was about. Then after looking at the techniques he used (depriving people of sleep, make them look up to him, only reward them arbitrarily and make them work until they collapse), found out that it's how work any university.
I lived thru the era albeit a bit young but not too young to understand. Read all the articles, saw all the photos of the aftermath. Didn't grow up to be a psychopath either...go figure. I'm 53 now. I love this group, the first chapter was amazing and this looks to be just as good.
@Dr not to mention the gunfire of the ones who caught on a bit too late.
Everything about this is astonishing. The lyrics, the video, the movements, the symbolism. I’ve said it before, i’ll say it again. SKYND is pure art.
My mom talked about her friend who lost a daughter to Jim Jones insanity. Her friend never found out if her daughter drank willingly or by force.
what a terrible and sad story Т_Т
i think most of it was force wasn't it, i heard that who didn't drink was going to get shot
@@kaitlynn8977 mostly right.
Jim Jones had some legit believers, people who tried to run were the ones that got shot.
I'm pretty sure the daughter wasn't by force or choice, it was obligation. I imagine it was a sort of "everyone else is doing it, there's no other way, I have to do it"
I think it's the goal of the green part of the clip : show these people could be friends, family, ... it doesn't just happen to others
As I read most people didn't want to drink it. They were either forced or held captive and injected it against their will. You couldn't get out alive at all.
How many people realize he's the reason for the " don't drink the kool aide" phrase? Jim Jones was a psycho
It was Flavor-aide...
What appeal are you referring to? Lol.
Michelle was simply informing those who weren't aware of the origins of the saying, "Don't drink the koolaid".
Genius. ;)
(What was used was actually Flavor-Aid, not Koolaid....but I digress...)
uh', thank you' ;|) LoL, I actually make the best Koo-Aid, I mix it with Tampico and part packs and part powder out of the can and a wee bit of Gatorade' ;|)
Whaaaaaa!?! **mind blown*
he killed himself too.
and they all knew they were committing suicide.
so why did they do that?
well, it started with a shooting they caused that resulted in the death of a politician.
their red brigade killed ryan deliberately.
and they thought they were gonna be tortured for it. the civilian members were roused into a panic.
hence, "it's all over, all over, hurry, children, hurry."
that's why they committed suicide.
and speaking as a communist, i will say that anyone who calls themself a revolutionary should NEVER commit suicide, and i won't condone it, but they knew what they were doing, and i'm sorry, but if the message of "don't drink the kool-aid" is that we shouldn't choose our own causes and enemies, then i'm sorry, you don't believe in freedom

I showed all the SKYND videos I could to my husband and daughter and they were equally impressed. The cinematography, the costumes and makeup, and of course the absolute feast for the ears on top of such dark subject matter makes their songs fascinatingly hypnotic.
The video is so much more chilling after listening to the entire tape of the event (with transcripts). Horrible what people are capable of. But great job capturing it through music.
@pack Pariah. I agree with you. I consider myself as very knowledgeable in regard to Jim Jones. He has always fascinated me since he started the People's Temple in my home town. However, maybe you or SKYND can help me understand something regarding the video. Did SKYND use the red and white color scheme to convey the perception of holiness, purity, and power? I feel stupid for asking that, but it interests me. Lol
My only gripe with this video is I would of liked more black skin in the waving praying arms for the sake of realism. More than half the 1200 people in the group were mixed race or non white I think?
Apart from that it's a fantastic visual representation
@@TheSpiritReborn I have no clue, I know the enforcers were known as the red brigade and they referred to drills as white nights so that may have something to do with it.
Hell I'm still trying to figure out the "first the crack and then the wiz" lyric in their Richard Ramirez song lol.
@@mooseBanner Richard Ramirez used crack. As far as "the wiz", setting aside the play for obvious reasons, Wiz is another term for drugs like speed. My best guess at any rate.
@@mooseBanner Thanks Pariah! Your answer actually makes more sense. I had not even considered the red brigade and white nights in relationship to the red and white theme.
As far as Richard Ramirez, the lyrics are actually "First the crack and then the whip". I think of these lyrics in reference to the fact that Richard Ramirez would use a screw driver to penetrate the person's eardrums. He did this to prevent them from hearing if he left or entered the premises. This prevented hopes of escaping. It would also take away any warning of hearing the "crack" before the whip made contact with the skin.
I have never in my life ever heard anything quite like this...
Unarguably true art in music form
SKYND is one of my top three inspirations in horror.
The other two are DIR EN GREY and Jake Munro.
What I truly love about SKYND is that she touches on real world horror. She has done songs about my favorite true crime cases. Gary Heidnik, Richard Ramirez, Columbine, and more. I can’t wait for more from SKYND. I love the industrial gothic vibe of every song. Please infest my ears with more truly terrifying music.
That’s also what I love about the three bands I listed. DIR EN GREY, SKYND, and MUNRO METAL (Jake Munro) all have succeeded in terrifying the hell out of me with their songs and visualizations. It’s very hard to scare me with a song or video considering I am a complete horror freak. I watch horror movies CONSTANTLY!!!!
It’s bands like these that are inspiring me to create concepts for horror games, horror films, and even books. I want to be able to put all of the terrifying things that I see and hear (due to visual and auditory hallucinations) into movies, games, comics, and full on novels. Thank you SKYND for being one of my biggest inspirations.

Almost everyday I watch forensics and crime shows and I know it's becoming alot more popular with things like Netflix ect but for many years now I've found it fascinating to delve into that dark side of our nature, we as beings have and always will have that side, if u look at human history in its entirety it's always been there. pedro rodrigues filho
I'm also fascinated by Dhamer for obscure reasons
dahmer and ramirez are my favorites-
I resonated with ramirez the minute I saw him- the very second I saw his image I knew, 'that man is a Satanist'. And I don't mean that in a bad way either, I'm a Satanist as well. That's why I resonated so harshly with him.
Ever ran the gauntlet?

I’m so late discovering this band but wow I’m blown away! Dark twisted yet somehow captivating. Incredible talent
My favorite part about your group is the fact that I am always super excited for the next song/video but have no idea what to expect. Such a great way to start a Friday! :D
Agreed 100%
This band is fucking better than the long awaited horror movie on a Friday night. Awaiting the Ed Gein and Jeffery Dahmer songs. As well the Charles (I killed no one) Manson song
This is the evolution of my dark music!! i follow this from the first day.
This world rejects the monsters it creates but exploits them after such tragic events!! This band brings all back to life & shoves it in their face!!
I just discovered this band. Hard not to be infatuated with the art and sound. I really dig it.
Это действительно глоток свежего воздуха. Спасибо

SKYND has a lot of good songs, but this one is still my favorite
You're the only new artist around that I am genuinely excited about releasing new stuff. This is extraordinary, your music is on a whole new level ✨
Ania R I’ll hail to that! 🌹🖤🌹
Agreed! I've been checking RUclips almost daily since discovering their music last year, hoping for new stuff. Best thing to wake up to today, I don't know how my day can get any better now.
so very true!!!!
Their music is definitely incredible! 100% unique! Definitely looking forward to their new music
You know you can't get enough of this song when you listen to it multiple times a day and it's stuck in your head even when you aren't playing it.....
I love that in the song she calls it Flavor-Aid because that is what they used not Kool-Aid.
I can't believe I'm just hearing this band for the first time so so dope
Drink that Jesus juice🥤!!!Skynd, I loved you from the beginning. Can't wait for chapter 2!

You're The Best Unique Artist I've Ever Seen And Heard!!!! So Serious!!!!
Just seen this band supporting ice nine kills in Glasgow and wow . This band is brilliant
Imagine if they did a song together or Spencer was in one of their videos
the details of even the choir music at the background being close if not the same as at the end of the death tape is insane. great work
Another beautiful piece of art. I love SKYND
The emotions and shivers from this song. It makes me so emotional and I can't stop listening to it. Really hits somewhere deep man. Love this band!
Love all skynd music didn’t even know they existed before the Chris watts video this is a great genre of music and they do it very well and do nothing to disrespect the victims or families
Okay that's creepy, I love it !!!! great job SKYND
I don't normally make comments but I just have to say I'm in love with this band! I've been dying for a new single and the wait was so worth it! Its been so long since I've discovered a new artist that gets me this excited. You guys are amazing, creative and so fresh! I love the storytelling. I can't wait for more
I am completely entranced.....
One of the most haunting and horrifying songs/videos I've ever experienced. Made all the more horrifying that it's true. The artistic expression in the video and in the music is next level. The symbolism. Man, just A+ 10/10 unbelievable.
I just discovered this song yesterday on Spotify and I now have an unhealthy obsession for this song and video.
SAME this song haunts you. And the real life events add to the mccobb curiosity we all have.
@@drewdelgadillo2410 I think you mean "macabre"
When a song is about real people, it just adds to the complexity to and makes me fall in in love like how Ice Nine Kills did with The Silver Scream. Love these type of songs!
Sooo hypnotic and disturbing. I've been back to this and several other Skynd videos many times over the past few days.
I was listening to it while driving around and I was driving down a hill that showed a meadow surrounded by trees and the imagery of this video and of the actual footage of Jonestown filled itself in and I was just deeply affected at that moment that I started crying.
That's art.
This is my favorite song of theirs, both visually, and musically.
Hope they release more soon, it's been a while. Also would be great to get a Blu-ray with all the videos eventually!
I think your songs, videos, and image are unnerving and beautiful. Having grown up on 80's horror, it is unusual to impress me, but by God, you did it. 😈🤘
Having grown up on the fame of any serial killer. Seems the only way you will for sure never be forgotten these days.
Just discovered SKYND by chance today... This is a freaking masterpiece! Need more!!!!
There were years in my life when I was in a sect. And this video is my favorite from SKYND. When I watch it, I always find myself inside it. I remember how the sect changes the mind. I remember what you feel when you hear that the Antichrist is already near. I remember a huge sense of guilt and fear of moving once again.
But all this is not so scary. It's scary that we came to an ordinary church. And then the priest gradually went crazy. And we didn't even notice how things began to change.
My father turned out to be a strong man and dragged our family out of there in time. I was a teenager and didn't understand much. But I will remember it all my life.
Every time I watch this video, I'm back in that sect. I hear again that I am wrong, and that my parents are sinners in general. But I still like to review this video. Because when it turns off, it all ends. It ends much easier than then.
Thank you.
SKYND reminding us yet again that talent still exists
This band does not get the recognition it deserves! It’s SO CLEVER! 🙌🏼
Amazing job, like always. It's like you are growing and creatively expanding with everything you release
With Skynd and Heilung I have my quarantine to enjoy the day
You know I'm still kinda surprised that they haven't made a movie or series about Jim Jones.
This has literally been stuck in my head for days.
My friend just turned me on to this & yeah can't get it out of my head.
@@MarcelReuling Go away.
Really loved Gary heidnik and Elisa Lam, this is no exception
Don't forget Richard Ramirez
This band is both brilliant and unique, and they make catchy tunes
2:38 Iconic stylization. Perfect.
When ever some one says that they are a christian I connect them to Jim Jones...people who crazily believe in an afterlife and would do anything to get there. Come to god. Drink it drink it. Great song and video.
Awesome music Awesome video From an Awesome Band !! love it ! Your band is the
Best discovery for years !
I come to the "SKYND" Temple :D
I've become obsessed with SKYND, especially this song. But not in a morbid or scary way that would make people worry. Visually, musically, vocally, lyrically all of the songs are captivating, entrancing and just pure art. I have so much respect and love for SKYND.
I dont understand why some people could dislike this clip... everything is so strong, so deep...art and crazy minds mixed together.that's' great
Whoever did this has done their research. I've been following Jim Jones and what happened for several years, shocked to see how many references there are, right down to calling out to Dad.
Could you throw us a few explanations? (for the people who dont know the story in a huge detail?) Thx!
@@bereserik Sure.
The overarching story is that a "preacher" named Jim Jones, started a church and evangelized all over the country, gathering followers. He slowly began to lead them to a point where they believed working as a commune and adopting a communistic society would produce ultimate happiness along side a paradise. He began drug use, as a result he began wearing sunglasses to cover his blood-shot eyes and shield them from the bright sunlight. Along with the drug use began the abuse of his congregation. He would feed them, clothe them, house them, abuse them, take their money, and completely control them. When the government began to poke their nose into some of the doings of the church, he looked elsewhere to move to, where the communistic lifestyle would be more supported. They ultimately moved to Guyana, and established a town called Jonestown. Without getting into the details of the trigger event, he eventually trained the people to kill themselves, in case the US invades the town and tries to arrest them and bring them back to the states..... an event happened, and they went through with the plan, killing 909 people.
Now, the details of the song:
First the verses are straight from the "death tapes" that were recorded when the people actually started drinking the cyanide and flavor-aide mixture that killed them. Side note: This is where the term "Drinking the Kool-aid" comes from, most people don't know that the People's Temple instead bought the knock-off flavor-aide brand. Like I said: They did their research.
"Hurry sisters, they're coming. Nothing to be afraid of. It's all over, it's all over."
Be aware it is creepy to listen to, especially since a music track can be heard playing backwards, bleeding through from the other side of the tape. They would re-use mastered cassettes to record over, one of the side effects is a back masking effect. Anyway, back on topic.
Several interviews confirmed that Jim Jones was commonly called "Dad" by his congregation.
The church was called "The People's Temple"
If you want to learn the most in the shortest amount of time, I'd suggest watching a TV movie series - Guyana Tragedy: The Story of Jim Jones. Two part series, and gives you a mild cliff notes introduction.
I think Jim had good intentions at first, but eventually fell into selfishness and greed. That eventually led him to a point where the idea of his people having control over their own lives was too much for him to bear.
Knowing what I know, the song is haunting to listen to.
@@bigun89 thank you
