I just took delivery of my first AF 10 accumulator a couple weeks ago and was finally able to put in the field last week. Was very impressed and pleased with it. Glad to see someone doing a video of putting it together.
Have that same model 3 years old now ,had the twine going over that kicker arm and on short steep down hill bales would sit on top ,(where that roller is ) called the company wanted to purchase the roller assembly ,and was asked about any other problems, mentioned the twine issue got the cams AND the roller assembly ,NO CHARGE. Now that is TRIPLE AAA customer service and i do brag Kuhns up every chance I get Also went in to Central Indiana to purchas mine as no body up here in Wisconsin knew what I was talking about But mine after see your videos on this channel 😊😊
They are a great company! And if you still have trouble with the bales sliding put slip plate on the stainless steel I had to on mine because of the hills.
Thanks Dennis @DLH Farms for posting the timely AF10 setup info. I bought one this summer too, but it arrived late and I haven’t set it up yet. Really glad after seeing the new versus old comparison that I went new for the money.
you got a new accumulator. your channel was where I first saw a bale accumulator and then just a few months later my neighbor got an accumulator and the grapple for their skid steer. when I knew what he had, he was shocked so I confessed, RUclips was where I got my education. I'll be back to watch more later.
Lol 😂 putting that Bale chute in by yourself is fun I had to put mine together by myself. Ours was one of the first af10s built it didn’t have the roller spring or shield updates it also doesn’t have the new Y ends with the string deflectors sometimes the strings hang on the Y’s am trap a bale under the tailgate and cause a real mess glad to see they fixed that I’ll have to modify mine there’s a huge difference between the af10 an 1036f I didn’t realize they were that different. Paint all the red on the deck with graphite paint an you shouldn’t have any issues with the bales turning between that an the new roller at the top it made a world of difference on mine
I had to paint the stainless on mine to make it work good on my hills but it works great now. I’ve got a video coming that shows exactly how steep you can go before it will turn over I get questions all the time about how steep you can use it on.
DLH Farms I might have to try that I generally wipe the stainless off with a rag before I start or the first 100 won’t slide good. Same here there pretty stable I don’t think people realize how wide they are looking forward to the next video 👍🏻
That accumulator should be easier for you. Only kuhn i have is a 9ft mower, but I love it. They make great equipment. Great video and I hope it does as good for you as it seems it should
That’s a different Kuhn they are a much larger company. Kuhns MFG is a small company that only makes accumulators and grapples and maybe a couple other things.
Hello Dennis, enjoyed watching you put your new equipment together. Seems like this one will do a better job. Can’t wait to see them side by side. Keep them coming. 👍
Good day Dennis . There is nothing like a piece of new shinny equipment to work with . I hope it will do the job for you with out any problems .Take care , be safe see ya .👍👍😊✌
Glad you were able to get away for a few days with the family for a vacation. That new accumulator is really nice. You might watch the review video done by Bagwell Farms on his new one. It's just like yours and he said you actually were the inspiration for him buying one. He had to do some modifications to his and also put some different paint on the bottom which helped the bails turn. Good luck with it. I can't wait to see it in the field working and hear your review on it. Thanks for all the great videos.
Yep I’ve seen his review of it a couple times and watched him use it too. Mine was set up great from the factory but the bales wouldn’t slide going down hill so I painted the stainless steel with the graphite paint and now it’s working great. I had to use the graphite on my old one also so it’s not new to me.
Loved the block the wheels comment you made. My dad was from Weekly County Tenn. western Tenn. Us being in Ohio heard a lot of his southern words scotch the wheels being one. The way he said yellow Camero would crack us up. Ron
It's good of Kuhns to let you keep the old one on-site for a short bit just to make sure you're satisfied with the new one. Don't know that there's right many companies that would do that these days.
Time will tell how good this new toy performs on the field..hopefully this mini size will achieve better result than the previous model... Looking forward to see the review on both model.
I had a hunch that was a demo derby car in the making over there when I saw that old caprice wagon! Enjoy the new accumulator, hopefully it works as good or better then the old one.
Nice looking unit. I got mine 2 years ago guess I'm going to need to add that piece on the turn arms. I get them under the strings fairly often and bust bsles.
Timer Farms you should call kuhns they have been awesome since day 1. Mine didn’t have either of those and they sent them to me no charge. I was having the same problem with my turn arms I put the ends on and it solved the problem it was driving me nuts because it was so random but it’s dialed in and works flawless. I baled 1300 bales the other day not one broken bale
Yes call Kuhns they will most likely help you out under warranty and there is a fix for the gate not opening too I believe just tell them what it’s doing. The roller gives the bale extra hight so it gets more speed to turn the tie bales. I think it made a difference on Bagwell farms AF 10 he put one on his.
As long as that baler can keep it fed it'll be okay. The greater angle of the up ramp makes me wonder. But I'm pretty sure the engineering was done on a computer by smarter folks than me, and tested well also.
Looks like they made some nice changes! I don't understand why they didn't weld a plate on each side under each of the main supports instead of relying only on a bolt....
Hey Dennis, just took delivery of anew AF10 about an hour ago and I see that mine has aluminum gates or deflector that change where the bales come down. Don't know if mine is old inventory or what? Watching you operate yours convinced me to go away from my bale thrower to this system. Hope it works!!
Turning radius will be better than that long accumulator in the field. They made a nice improvement on that new machine. I used one of those long ones before, its a real pain in a small field. I bet your new one will treat you better. Great video !!
They definitely didn't go cheap when it came to supplying the purchaser with everything that they will need for the entire system. Which nowadays isn't normal they charge you extra for everything and don't tell you what you need to purchase to be able to assemble it completely
That reminds me of a generator I purchased where the instructions on how to open the crate were inside of the crate. If there is a 50/50 chance of doing something wrong, it ends up being wrong 90% of the time.
He got hit so hard on the right front that it bent one of his exhaust pipes and layer it across the top of the engine and busted and crushed the battery that was mounted in the passenger floorboard.
I got a 1034 khun accumulator, I have never been able to get it to work right. Only use it on straw once a year, and am not happy with it. Kuhn sent a Rep out a couple weeks before we bailed straw, changed the bale shoot to the same design as yours shortened the tongue on my baler, and it now hits the baler in turns, they replaced all the springs, still doesn't work right, im ready to get rid of it.😡
buckeye farm boy. On my old unit the hitch hole is supposed to be 1inch behind the end of the plate on the baler and the new one it says the hole can be 0 to 2 inches behind the plate. As far as the bales sliding the stainless wasn’t slick enough for my hilly ground and they wouldn’t slide good on it so I put a product called slip plate on it. It’s a graphite spray paint I got it from amazon but places like tractor supply usually has it or something similar. Just spray it on the stainless steel. It makes a big difference especially going down hill. You will need about 3 cans.
Also the hitch on the accumulator is supposed to sick out from the plate on it about 8 inches if memory serves me correct. When set up properly they shouldn’t hit each other.
I know you mentioned that you were on vacation at the beginning of the video but gosh darn you work hard and by yourself! I hated to see you lifting that chute up by yourself! You get hurt down at the shop by yourself it may be a while before someone finds you! I know I’d be hanging around you and helping you if I were friends with you! Take care of you and your beautiful family sir and I hope you’re taking it a little easy sir!
@@DLHFarms Thanks for the reply, Just bought a brand new New Holland BC5060 in July and set me back 24k. Better pay it off before I invest in one of these and a grapple.

Hey Dennis, I was wondering g what made you decide to upgrade the accumulator? If you said in this video I missed it.
Lots of improvements on the new one. The biggest thing that interests me was the smaller size.
I got a 1034 khun accumulator, I have never been able to get it to work right. Only use it on straw once a year, and am not happy with it. Kuhn sent a Rep out a couple weeks before we bailed straw, changed the bale shoot to the same design as yours shortened the tongue on my baler, and it now hits the baler in turns, they replaced all the springs, still doesn't work right, im ready to get rid of it.😡
Oh and they had me buy the stainless steel kit and put it on it also.
What’s not working about it? What baler are you using?
Hesston 4600 inline, they won't slide down and trip the flaps, they hang up all the time
