    I bought a 2016 250X and put my deposit down before the local dealer even had any delivered. Since then, I've really only added the basics for mods. Skid plates/hand guards, spark arrestor. Thats about it. The bike has been rock solid and I totally agree with everything you said. I'm not really that good, but the bike makes me feel like a rock star and puts a huge smile on my face every time I ride it. The motor is amazing. Like you said, it will chug down to almost nothing picking through rocks, slime and roots, but then when you roll on the throttle or just bump the clutch a bit, it really comes alive and rips like a 2 stroke should. Most useable and wide power of any 2 stroke I've ridden. I SO wish Yamaha would pay attention and update this bike to shut up the haters, but with that said, I think most of the haters haven't swung a leg over one to realize how versatile and good it really is.

      Actually i did
      Kayaba is by far the best suspension
      And Yamaha and Honda the most reliable hands down.
      Ktm has more horsepower but who really use all that power?
      I am not a pro
      All i need is friendly reliable fun bike. And this is what Yamaha does better than KTM

      Personally i prefer it like that.
      No worries for a dead battery a cold Saturday morning.
      Plus Yz250x is one of the most easiest bike to Kickstart.

      andreas stefanou I ride some pretty Gnarly stuff up here in the north west electric start is insanely nice to have also my 2019 300xc has a kick starter as well, but definitely cost me a little more for the goodies. Love the Yamaha’s tho one day it will come with a button!

    IMO. They really need to add electric start to this model. That and maybe a coil that can run a headlight. That would put them par with the other European models. With the battery they can then go to fuel injection and possibly oil injection. I may be the minority in my opinion but Yamaha really needs to come to the 21st century with the 2T.

    • @wdsracer
      @wdsracer 5 лет назад +3

      Brian Castora adding those features will also add cost. Low cost and simplicity is one of the things that make the 250 x appealing to some riders. My latest quotes from local Ktm dealers for the 2019 250 xcw tpi range from $9700 to $10,300. I can buy a 250x for around 6900. It is a very capable bike as it is and they sellout every year. I personally prefer the simplicity of the 250x and the piece of mind that it is a proven design and has less technology that can fail.

    Nice review, you definitely bring different information and technical expertise to these reviews which I appreciate, 4t or 2t.🤙
    Add VFORCE reed cage/reeds and a StIC metering block to the PWK38 Keihin and it will be all that and more for any other bike, 4 or 2t, still the best suspension package going.

      Why? The carb on the Yammie is as good as it gets if you spend a small amount of time getting it dialed in for your riding conditions. It's simple, light, cheap and reliable. What is the real world benefit of EFI on a 2 stroke off road bike?
