I love videos that teach you ways to save money and make the stuff yourself. Honestly if you ask me they are crafting angles that bless us with knowledge to help us not have to buy unbelievable prices on stuff. Thank you Marsha I really appreciate your videos because I poor and can't afford to but the really expensive stuff out there, so thanks a million, God Bless You and Your Family Always. Angles come from God they are there to guide you and help you on your journey even your crafting journey and this woman is definitely one of them.
I've just mixed up two colours and tried on paper and so far it's fantastic and all its cost me is the little cosmetic containers from the $2 store. Will use on the textured canvas tomorrow hopefully. Just gessoed it.
This is so good and I actually have gold and bronze pigment in the house. I am going to pass you on to some friends who will love This! I just tried it and it's beautiful!
Who would have thought it, just body lotion and glue? With mica powder of course? I have watched many tutorials on making your own guilding wax with wax or shoe polish, and their finished results never looked as good and bright as yours. I definitely will have a try at making your version thank you so much 😀❤️
Hi Daniela, I am new to your channel. This is a wonderful idea. I wanted to know if I can use Mica powder I don’t have pigment powder, but I will get some. This is going to save me some money because I’m on a budget and I love making beautiful things and if I can make it myself. Wow this is great thank you for sharing.
Thanks for showing us how to make this! I'm assuming the gold is like PearlEx, like shiny mica dust? (I use PearlEx as facial blusher with a puff brush). Maybe another way one could gild is to apply it directly to the embossing folder on the raised part, then when it is embossed it will transfer. You'd have to scrub it off the embossing folder, though, a lot harder than washing your finger.
to get Pearlex onto raised areas using Emb.folders, you'd have to apply it to the debossed (recessed) side of the folder...a useless venture!! It's easy enough to remove with warm soapy water, from the folder...just impossible to get it to stay on plastic. What you can do is apply an embossing medium (such as VersaMark or Ranger's distress embossing medium, or another brand) to the pre-embossed cardstock (this is not heat embossing with a heat gun/heat tool). Hold embossing pad, & very carefully apply it to the raised surfaces. Using a soft mop brush, lightly dipped into Pearlex, dust areas you've touched with the embossing pad. This mediium will hold Pearlex in place. If you want to seal, use an acrylic spray sealer...but you may not find it necessary. This technique looks best on intense coloured cardstock...black, indigo, dark blue, red, etc. Pearlex is an inert mica powder. It's non reactive, so something needs to hold it in place. If using water, pearlex will brush off when the water is dry. It can be used with PVA type, white craft glues to create an acrylic pearlescent dimensional glue/paint, such as Perfect Pearls, etc. Or you can mix with Gum Arabic to create an irridescent watercolour paint. You can also create embossing powders for heat embossing, using superfine clear embossing powder & a good measure of Pearlex. Always be mindful when using fine particles of any sort, spraying or dusting, they aren't good for our lungs!
Nancy, if you applied it to the raised parts, and if it was even possible, you'd find that the Pearlex would've transferred to the back of your cardstock, not the front which is raised...& the powder would not remain there without a medium to keep it in place :)
Love this, thank you for sharing. I can not afford to buy everything I want from a good art/craft store LOL so I do shop cheap on aliexpress and I am so going to look into this. But do you think I could use acrylic colours instead of the pigment???
yes, it confused me too, but if you stop the video at 1:52 you can read the tube, Petroleum Jelly is the name brand but it is creamy coco butter hand lotion.
I went to the site couldn’t find any gold powder in a bottle. Only the paint which is not what I wanted. I got the bottles can you be more specific on the gold glitter powder and size. Thanks
I think it's a bit more complicated. I worked in 2 art shops over a period of 12+ yrs, so I'm making a somewhat 'uneducated' guess, with the knowledge I have, of certain products. I DO know that gilding wax smells 'solvent' based...so it's fumes are noxious, & not good for us to breathe in...meaning you need to work in a well ventilated area with no heaters on! If you mixed a solvent-based wax varnish (it won't be water-soluable), with an irridescent (sparkly, but not glitter) pigment powder, you'd theoretically have a gilding wax. I'm still working on reconstituting some of my dried pots of Cosmic Shimmer's gilding wax. A stunningly beautiful product, but solvent based things do have a tendency to evaporate. I'd like to avoid using Odorless Solvent, but may have no other choice.
Not all gilding wax is solvent based. Crafters companion has introduced WATER BASED gilding wax. No smell at all and you can use it like a watercolor paint. Lovely colors too.
If you can paint with it like a watercolor, technically it isn't wax. A true gilding wax is water resistant...& therefore, only able to be diluted by a solvent. That's possibly why it's so expensive. I don't understand why manufacturers introduce products, randomly naming them without bearing in mind it's difference from the original product being mimicked. It's still a beautiful looking finish...just call it something else so those who aren't aware won't be confused. Generally speaking, water-based aren't as dangerous as solvent based. True gilding wax should be used in a well-ventilated area, with no heating in the room, & skin ought to be protected by using gloves, as your skin absorbs what you expose it to. I simply cut single fingers off a latex glove, so I don't waste a whole glove (and my hand doesn't have to get hot & sweaty!). And sorry, but true gilding wax does have a distinctive odour.
Great idea! How tragic that you drowned the speech in loud, unnecessary music! With respect, your accent already makes listening a challenge - why make it even harder for the listener?
Half way through - I was pleasantly surprised - the music stopped. Not sure if that was intentional, but I found it a blessing either way! I enjoyed the rest of it! Your voice is just fine to listen to! No need to gild the lily.

THANKS SO MUCH! I make a lot of my own homemade pastes, etc., but didn't know this was so easy and inexpensive.

Thanks for sharing your receipe to make guiding wax, looks great!
Thank you so much for this! I can’t afford all the metallic colours I want in the wax. I have all the ingredients for this already though
Thanks for the video!
Does it have to be petroleum jelly or can it be body lotion?
Thank you! Its very expensive to buy. I love saving money
Thanks for the great idea! Looking for pigment right now. It's such a pretty effect!
Thanks for sharing. Looks very nice
Well, that's very cool. I love making art/craft supplies cheap. Yay. Good video too. Thank you.

Does it dry? Thanks for the tutorial btw!
Loved the video, it’s a big help for crafters.

Hi Lucy, yes mica powder is pigmented powder. I'm going to use up some mica 's and try it out. Hope you are happy with your end result x
Does it ware the same, or will it rub off
Can we use this on furniture?
Does it dry well? I ask because of the lotion or petroleum jelly used.
Why do you add the lotion?

Nancy Collins it is a gold pigment bottle, a large one. I have attached the link to it below the video, you should check it out. 💖
I've tried the link and it says 'page not found' :(

Nancy Collins where you buy the little container?
Pretty cool love it. What embossing folder are you using it’s really pretty. And where did you get the tiny bottles also
I am curious, what boning agent to use with ready made wax?
Is it mica powder like loose powder eye shadow? Great idea! I wonder if glycerine or baby oil would also work instead of lotion. Gotta experiment.
Oil or glycerine may stain the paper. Yes mica is eyeshadow powder....pressed or loose.
Love this, thank you for sharing. I can not afford to buy everything I want from a good art/craft store LOL so I do shop cheap on aliexpress and I am so going to look into this. But do you think I could use acrylic colours instead of the pigment???
Tora Geirs that sounds like a good idea, you should try it! Powder eyeshadow is a great option too 💖
I've seen people use eye shadow from the dollar store. I don't think acrylic would work, but why not test a tiny amount?
Just saw this video and loved it. I had not seen this technique done before. It is perfect for Christmas cards! Thank you!
Will hemorrhoid cream work in this recipe? It's the same petroleum base...butt...it has other ingredients...
🤣
This is such a great tutorial thank you so much!
Awesome...does it dry on the paper? Also, can you use Perfect Pearls instead of the gold powder you used?
I have used Perfect Pearl's as well as Mica Power and it works very well.
@@cynthiacler9284 TY for answering me. I wasn’t sure if you would being this video is four years old. TYSM!!! ❤️🇺🇸❤️
Thank you Daniella for another great video! Please keep making these wonderful money saving ideas! God bless :)
What's the binding agent dont you need wax in here to sorry I just saw others that said it and I science
Called it hand lotion...thought it SAID. Petroleum Jelly?

Is this permanent.
So cool that this video just appeared on my feed. TFS this idea . New Aussie subby . 👍🏻👍🏻🙏🙏🇦🇺🇦🇺
This is amazing! Do you remember from where you found the embossing folder & it's name? Thank you!! Marsha
Hi, it is an embossing folder from Anna Griffin, I do not remember the name of it. Greetings
Thank you ❤
Thank you for this wonderful idea! Saving $$ is very important 🌹❤🌹
Thanks a lot!
Thank you
Good idea, but I know pigment is expensive
Is the pigment shiny like bought wax?
Raven Faith Barnett - Hello Raven, Yes, just like the wax sold at the stores
I went to the site couldn’t find any gold powder in a bottle. Only the paint which is not what I wanted. I got the bottles can you be more specific on the gold glitter powder and size. Thanks
Try going to the site and typing in Pigment Powder. It brings up big containers. That is what I did.
Thank you for sharing this great idea. Thought the video was well done.
Hello, What a great idea! Do you Thank it will work om Polymer clay? Thank you for sharing! 👍😊
M Hendriks -Hi, I would think so... if anything you could just add a few drops of a stronger glue but I don't think it is necessary 💖
Crafty Lifestyle Thank you for your answer! Wish you a lot of Fun with your hobby!👍😊
what are the amounts of lotion to glue?
Thx u for showing how to make quilting wax
Nice and easy. Thank you!
I use coconut oil to make mine

En español Daniela tu video porfavor !!!
Thanks for sharing. Now I don't have togoout and buy it.😉
Cut the music...one its 100 times too loud and two takes away from the video..i cant watch it at all
Head's up: can't hear you over the music.
Can't hear a thing of what you are saying because of the music.
Music too loud
Can't barely hear
You've actually made gold acrylic paint, NOT gilding wax. Gilding wax is solvent based, & the white craft glue (PVA glue) is water based.
How do you make gilding wax then Jenny?

@@jennymullins593 not all paint is water based, so I guess I'm not sure what point your trying to make...
