Waddle Dees are debatably the best Kirby enemies. They're adorable with way more personality than most would expect, but still loyal to their king and willing to lay down their lives for the kingdom and ruler. They're only rivaled by the maraca enemies from 64 because of just how cute those guys are. Bandanna Waddle Dee is the epitome of all Waddle Dees without a doubt.
Bandana Dee is simply perfect. I hope he will get a little more importance to the overall Kirby lore during this new game that will come out. The little guy deserves every bit if atenttion he recieves.
Honestly, to me Bandanna Dee is a character that shows growth just as much as the other mainstays Dedede and Meta Knight. They start out weak and afraid, but loyal. Even in their earliest appearances, they can be seen trying to improve (such as in the Superstar minigames). Even though they never really play a major role in any game, each time they do they show growth, such as Befriending Kirby (who they were previously terrified of), going out of their way to help others, and even when they can't directly help, such as in Robobot or Triple Deluxe, they are shown to go out of their way to provide support. In Star Allies, they are the only one of the main three to not be corrupted by the Jamba Heart, and in the newest entry, while it is entirely optional, they go right alongside Kirby throughout Forgotten Land, being the first to help build waddle-dee town. Again, this is completely optional, but every single cutscene that is not pre-rendered has a variant with Bandanna Dee in it. Even the pre-rendered cutscenes that play and the beginning and end have them alongside Kirby. With the confirmation that the timeline isn't fully linear, I think Kirby Battle Royale might take place a bit after King's Revenge, but before Return to Dreamland, thus why they are using the parasol rather than their trusty spear. They may not be complex, but man I love the little details throughout the games.
You know, the idea of a character going from being just another face in the crowd to one of the main characters of the Kirby series is an idea I really like, so it's only natural that Bandee would end up becoming one of my all time favorite characters in the franchise. In fact, he's actually second only to Kirby himself! Great video, man. I look forward to when you eventually tackle who is essentially my comfort character! And... by the way, I think I may be exempt from those who only watch your Kirby videos as I did watch your Luigi's Mansion video from a while ago. Just thought I'd put that out there.
Great video! Side note on the mini games' canonicity: they are not exaggerated at all, as not only do the characters all scale significantly higher than anything they do in any of the minigames (the craziest mini game is the star allies meteorite batting at around solar system level iirc, whereas the top tiers all scale to low multiversal through mainline story content), but I recall reading that someone on the dev team around the time of star allies stated that they are intended to show off how powerful kirby and co are directly without being constrained by plot, as there isn't really a reason to have the cast do what they do in minigames IN the main story.
Something I find interesting, and likely ultimately irrelevant in this context, is that as of Forgotten Land (which had not been released at the time this video was made) Bandanna Waddle Dee is the _only_ member of the main cast to have dialogue outside of spin-offs since Super Star Ultra, having dialogue when you speak to him in Waddle Dee Town in Single Player, though he doesn't speak in cutscenes. This is also not counting the little quote each Dream Friend has in their pause screen description during Guest Star mode.
For the Bandana Dee is the 64 Dee theory, I think it's Parasol Dee (he's not generic look at his parasol compared to the other parasol dees). The intro skit as you mentioned in the video has Parasol Dee as the 64 Dee. There's also another skit with him as the 64 Dee. Parasol Dee was seen as the Waddle Dee in Marx's trailer. There was also a Waddle Dee in K64. Why wouldn't they be the same? Not to mention since minigames aren't canon, Parasol Dee was the only Waddle Dee that helped Kirby that had the same colors as K64 Waddle Dee. So I consider Parasol Dee and K64 Waddle Dee the same. Maybe he just didn't bring his Parasol. It's not like he would've looked generic anyway since we've seen him in Kirby Super Star without his Parasol.
What Parasol Dee are you talking about. The only waddle dee with a different designed parasol that has helped kirby, from what I know, is bandana waddle dee.
I think another good reason bandana dee could be using a parasol is because he is seen as the representative and role model for other waddle dee’s and wanted to represent them with their signature weapon instead of his spear.
Can’t wait for forgotten land update cause all 3 characters u talked about gets a bit more information mostly for dedede and banadana dee while meta knight gets more positive points as a chad
The reason i personally love bandana Dee so much is because he meshes so well with kirby like how meta does with DeDeDe. it creates such a nice group dynamic.
it was kinda confirmed that that was Bandana waddle in crystal shards In Bandana waddle's description (some where) they said the words "unlike other waddle dees, this waddle actually chooses to help Kirby" which if that wasn't the same person, that would mean that they are completely forgetting a whole character. in an official Kirby book, they call him waddle dee, and he doesn't have a bandana, and they say he's Kirby's best friend and helps him a lot on his adventure, which there is only 1 waddle dee that does that. and finally, in star allies, they show choose Bandana Dee to represent the Waddle dee during the friend skits (we see him next to Adeline&Ribbon, King DDD, and Kirby. Also, sometimes they choose Parasol dee, but that's because he doesn't have a hat) Also, on a completely different note, we can see from the endings IMPORTANT pictures that conically Kirby used Sword and had Bandana Dee as his buddy on fighter 2
I only just discovered these videos, and they make me wonder how Dedede, Meta Knight, and BandDee will appear in Kirby and the Forgotten Land. As far as I know, they haven't been seen in the one trailer we have to work with, but they're downright integral to the franchise so surely one or more of them must be in there somewhere. EDIT: so as of this edit we got another trailer revealing BanDee as the P2 character, and Meta Knight as some type of boss fight. That just leaves Dedede as the only one absent. Granted he COULD be there and we haven't seen him, but he wasn't in Amazing Mirror at all either so...we'll see. EDIT 2 ELECTRIC KIRBALOO: so as of THIS edit we got yet another trailer, this time briefly showing Dedede, cloaked in shadow with new animal pelt robes. I can only assume he's been brainwashed and is fighting Kirby against his will...for like the 7th time now. Regardless that's all 4 characters accounted for: Kirb, 3D, Meta, and Dee! Now I'm left to wonder if the Dream Friends will appear in those collectible figures. That WOULD be a neat way to recycle those fancy new 3D models...
Its nice to see the heroic quad are all coming back, high hopes for Marx and Adeliene even though cuts have gotta happen when we're switching to an open world 3d lifestyle *23 days left*
tbh out of all the main 4 characters, bandana dee has the most added in forgotten land, being right beside kirby in all the levels if you choose, showing how much he cares about kirby
With a new game with the arrival of the 3D world to the series, new character development and lore! As these videos are a year old, I'm gonna talk about the new stuff with our three supporters in it, well two of them as bandana dee is just player 2. At the start of the game, both the masked warrior and his majesty are sucked into the new world before the puffball. Dedede (as if it's tradition at this point) gets kidnapped and mind controlled while MK manages to resist and act as the guardian of waddle dee town while Kirby is away. At the start of world 4, the arena opens up with the lone swordsman challenging the pink demon to a duel in the first arena's cup to hone both their skills. At the end of the 4th world, we fight the mind controlled penguin again who has aligned himselfwith the new big bads introduced. Beating him grants him an opening fo kidnap the new pal of the game Elfilin and now kirb has to chase him to world seven to get him back. Reaching the boss level, it's shown that the king has started to break free a bit from his puppeteers, but quickly put in his place with a wooden boar mask (idk man). Once finally free, the beast pack come at the pair and three newly saved dees. Trying to flee, triple D notices one waddle has fell and quickly rushes to his rescue, only to realize that the group won't make it if they aren't stalled. With a mighty throw, he hurls his subject through the elevator door and prepares for a brawl to give his subjects and best friend/rival time to confront the leader of the madness.
AYE! CONGRATS ON 1,000 SUBSCRIBERS DUDE! 😊 and don't worry 👍🏾 i'll be sure to share this and your other videos with my friends! i wouldn't want you to give up making the content you like just cuz they're not getting views 😢
You gotta love how Bandana Dee rose to prominence in such a short amount of time. Ever since Return to Dream Land, he's had a better attendance record than both Dedede and Meta Knight, which Star Allies lampshades on his pause description.
I remember that whenever I encountered him in Kirby Super Star Ultra, I for some reason constantly gave him ultimate disrespect by purposefully giving up my ability and just oneshoting him I didn't even try getting the ability back, I just got rid of it whenever I saw him and did this now I just see him as bestest boy and I regret giving him constant disrespect as a child
12:46 don't forget the Japanese kirby books, cuz a waddle dee appears as kirby's closest ally. even in the planet robobot book, he ACTUALLY adventured with kirby in that one.
It's funny because in that book, the Waddle Dee *IS* Bandana Dee, he puts his Bandana on in battle Royale just to distinguish himself from the other Waddle Dees.
One thing you didn't specifically mention that I think is important is how supportive and how brave he is. Sure, he's sometimes shown as timid, but he's probably one of the bravest of the characters throughout the entire series. In the arena for super star ultra, sure its kinda a joke that he's just a basic waddle dee, but it shows that he has enough confidence to try the arena, even if his chances are slim. Also, just the fact that he decides to join kirby in his adventures truly shows not only how he's brave enough to save dreamland, but also how supportive he is to his friends. He just wants to help them out, and even in the 3DS games where he doesn't play a role in the story, he is still willing to help out and give kirby healing Items. As the weaker of the team, the fact that he has gone on dangerous quests with the gang really solidifies that he is just as strong, if not stronger, in spirit. Also, I'm astounded you didn't think that bandana waddle dee was important enough to get an analysis from the beginning. He's been a big part of the team especially recently, and he even has a short yet very good story arch.
By the way Badana waddledee is also to be known as a best friend to kirby and is a little bit scared whenever kirby in comic dubs gets hurt and almost looking killed and is a good Royalty to king dedede
For the "is Bandana Dee the same Waddle Dee as the one from 64?" theory, I've always mostly been against. Idk, I just never solid and there's really no evidence for it. It may have inspired what BWD would become but I don't think they're one in the same. Plus why would he go from wearing a bandana to not wearing a bandana to wearing one again. I just think it was some random resourceful Waddle Dee who had time to kill going on adventure. I like to call him Fred. I couldn't tell ya why I just like it.
Considering that in Super Star SNES he only appears in a minigame, I think it's safe to say that Kirby 64 may have just been his earliest chronological appearance
Something I love with his appearance in star allies is that because spear is unique to him now they made move names more personal and renames the spear copter to and I quote the "Waddle Copter" which is the best thing I've seen in my life and I can die happily
Could you do a Magolor character analysis? I find that his character arc is very interesting, especially since it largely occurs within Dream Collection.
I think the reason why BDW is so beloved is because he's the Paper Mario Partner, but throughout the whole series. The Goombario, Goombella, Bombette, Koops, a regular enemy that gets a spot in the limelight. He also is someone that went from being a joke, to being on par with Kirby and skilled in a weapon. Two if we count parasol from Royale. Guy's also ultra loyal to his King and friends, but would put something greater above that. EI: Helping save the world, or helping Kirby beat Dedede in Royale. The fact he's usually the defacto player two after Returns kind of builds onto all of those facts. TLDR: He's like if Goombario went along with Paper Mario in every single game after the first one.
I really like both his glow-up, and his nature as sort of the "party rookie". Being meeker than the others, but at the same time, everyone's darling. His shown compassion and care for just about everyone is also, very endearing. Simple doesn't mean bland. Now if only they found a way for him to combine both spear _and_ parasol, that would be amazing.
I like bandana dee mostly because he's simple. You wouldn't expect a waddle dee to be much compared to a heavyweight royal champion, a dark knight of dark knights and a all consuming baby star. The fact he's the OP character is frankly hilarious and awesome

Bandana Waddle Dee is the best of its species & really the Mario series should take note of this popularity when making the next Paper Mario game.
I love this little guy, he's literally a normal person walking around the best of the best, his friendship with Kirby is precious, and actually? I love the main 4 a LOT (i like to call the the "DreamL Team"), i just want so see them more as a group in the games, we've already had our crumbs of MK and DDD interactions in Fighters 2, since Bandee looks up to them, why not giving us some more interactions between them?
Waddle Dees are debatably the best Kirby enemies. They're adorable with way more personality than most would expect, but still loyal to their king and willing to lay down their lives for the kingdom and ruler. They're only rivaled by the maraca enemies from 64 because of just how cute those guys are. Bandanna Waddle Dee is the epitome of all Waddle Dees without a doubt.
Bandana Dee is simply perfect. I hope he will get a little more importance to the overall Kirby lore during this new game that will come out. The little guy deserves every bit if atenttion he recieves.
5:30 honestly I’m just going to refer to him as bandee now because it’s just easier to say/type
I approve of this
Your approval means everything thank you
Remember, in a alternate Kirby timeline, Bandana Waddle Dee beat Magolor by HIMSELF.
Not bad mate, but you forgot the numerous violations of the Geneva Convention that I've committed.
YES BANDEE!!!
This is such a great take on the character
Bandee is actually a pretty creative name for Bandana Waddle Dee, I honestly might start calling him that
You know, the idea of a character going from being just another face in the crowd to one of the main characters of the Kirby series is an idea I really like, so it's only natural that Bandee would end up becoming one of my all time favorite characters in the franchise.
That’s the thing, pretty much every character in kirby is obnoxious and godly it’s nice seeing a character that is human like us
Great video!
Waddle Dees have gone from the Goombas of the series to the Toads, making Bandana Waddle Dee equivalent to Captain Toad. Not a bad glow-up.
YESSSS BANDANA DEEEEE
Great vid as usual about my man bandana dee
Something I find interesting, and likely ultimately irrelevant in this context, is that as of Forgotten Land (which had not been released at the time this video was made) Bandanna Waddle Dee is the _only_ member of the main cast to have dialogue outside of spin-offs since Super Star Ultra, having dialogue when you speak to him in Waddle Dee Town in Single Player, though he doesn't speak in cutscenes.
This is also not counting the little quote each Dream Friend has in their pause screen description during Guest Star mode.
And then, he came back.
I think another good reason bandana dee could be using a parasol is because he is seen as the representative and role model for other waddle dee’s and wanted to represent them with their signature weapon instead of his spear.
imagine having the gall to enter a fighting competition with nothing but a parasol and your best pal, and winning
flash forward to March 25th when Bandana Dee is the ONLY playable character besides Kirby
pretty big upgrade
I think Kirby And The Forgotten Land will do quite a lot for Bandana Waddle Dee
He got even more personality in Kirby and the forgotten land actually!
Bandee wanted to defend his people, so he mastered the spear.
Character Development at its finest.
Honestly I wish they did name him Bandee. Having his own unique name would make him stand out a lot more
Hello! Amazing video as always!Congratulations for 1000 subs! I remember watching you with 600 subs.
the Waddle Dee character is also the only Waddle Dee/Waddle Doo in all of Kirby 64.
Can’t wait for forgotten land update cause all 3 characters u talked about gets a bit more information mostly for dedede and banadana dee while meta knight gets more positive points as a chad
Meta Knight is the cool uncle of the Kirby universe now
As a person who likes Meta Knight, Kirby and Bandana Dee, I love Kirby content from you.
"War is H*ck" --Bandana Waddle Dee
The reason i personally love bandana Dee so much is because he meshes so well with kirby like how meta does with DeDeDe. it creates such a nice group dynamic.
it was kinda confirmed that that was Bandana waddle in crystal shards
In Bandana waddle's description (some where) they said the words "unlike other waddle dees, this waddle actually chooses to help Kirby" which if that wasn't the same person, that would mean that they are completely forgetting a whole character. in an official Kirby book, they call him waddle dee, and he doesn't have a bandana, and they say he's Kirby's best friend and helps him a lot on his adventure, which there is only 1 waddle dee that does that. and finally, in star allies, they show choose Bandana Dee to represent the Waddle dee during the friend skits (we see him next to Adeline&Ribbon, King DDD, and Kirby. Also, sometimes they choose Parasol dee, but that's because he doesn't have a hat)
Also, on a completely different note, we can see from the endings IMPORTANT pictures that conically Kirby used Sword and had Bandana Dee as his buddy on fighter 2
I enjoy your Kirby character analyses, so thank you for making this.
I think if Kirby 64 got a remake I think the Waddle Dee will probably be Bandana Waddle Dee.
6:27 it’s actually called the waddle copter in future games, which makes it even more adorable
i love waddle dee :)
Its nice to see the heroic quad are all coming back, high hopes for Marx and Adeliene even though cuts have gotta happen when we're switching to an open world 3d lifestyle
*23 days left*
I really loved the fact he was your co-op player in Kirby and the Forgotten Land, that’s was the time I really loved this goofball!
tbh out of all the main 4 characters, bandana dee has the most added in forgotten land, being right beside kirby in all the levels if you choose, showing how much he cares about kirby
13:29 hopefully this ages well. congrats on 1k man!
My man went from level1 crook to 99boss
Damn love these videos, hope you cover some of the main villains like dark matter or Necrodeus, keep up the great work :)
Waddle dee’s chargeable move is called waddle copter. Fun fact
Honestly this blue bandana wearing waddle Dee is one of my favorite characters
Congrats on 1k subs
All these facts are true I would know I’m a waddle dee
He's a true star warrior
I think he is the first Kirby's friend, like the childhood one
You gotta love how Bandana Dee rose to prominence in such a short amount of time. Ever since Return to Dream Land, he's had a better attendance record than both Dedede and Meta Knight, which Star Allies lampshades on his pause description.
I remember that whenever I encountered him in Kirby Super Star Ultra, I for some reason constantly gave him ultimate disrespect by purposefully giving up my ability and just oneshoting him
I didn't even try getting the ability back, I just got rid of it whenever I saw him and did this
now I just see him as bestest boy and I regret giving him constant disrespect as a child
bandana dee doesnt need character he is baby
"Who is Bandanna Waddle Dee?"
Someone who should be a fighter in Smash 6, that's who
12:46 don't forget the Japanese kirby books, cuz a waddle dee appears as kirby's closest ally.
even in the planet robobot book, he ACTUALLY adventured with kirby in that one.
It's funny because in that book, the Waddle Dee *IS* Bandana Dee, he puts his Bandana on in battle Royale just to distinguish himself from the other Waddle Dees.
@@glimmerstantroop46321 oooh.
Man, I really need to read the rest of the books.
I couldn't tell ya why I just like it.
from what i seen from the games i think 64 takes place before super star or atleast before kirby meets bandee
@@vaDSG plus maybe bandana waddle dee started out as a normal careless waddle dee in 64 but then became inspired
Considering that in Super Star SNES he only appears in a minigame, I think it's safe to say that Kirby 64 may have just been his earliest chronological appearance
It's hard to tell I guess, but it dosent matter too much I guess
If Kirby 64 ever gets remade, that Waddle Dee would _definitely_ be Bandana Dee, which also means we would see Bandana Doo.
It feels like with every new Kirby game, HAL is saying "Just put him in smash already!"
Waddle Dee deserves more love!
Congratulations on having 1,000 subscribers!
BANDANA WADDLE DEE VIDEO LETS GOO!!!!!
You are telling me you have non kirby videos ?😅 keep up the great work!
A character that should be in smash
Bandana Dee: proof that an accessory is all you need to turn a normal enemy into a beloved character
i really loves this series, can you make one of the dark matters an all its forms?
Thanks for the kind words! I don’t know if I’ll do a standalone video on Dark Matter, but they’ll definitely be covered in the Kirby analysis!
@@SilveryMP it doesn't matter if is a standalone video, i just love kirby lore and enemies, so do what you think is better, thanks for answer
its tha bandee!!!
I love that beta name tho! Bandee! That's so cute!
And he's still keeping up as THE Player 2 in the Forgotten Lands! and when he's not alongside Kirby ingame he is hanging out in Waddle Dee Town!
Co-op is actually can to in that game
I like bandana dee mostly because he's simple. You wouldn't expect a waddle dee to be much compared to a heavyweight royal champion, a dark knight of dark knights and a all consuming baby star. The fact he's the OP character is frankly hilarious and awesome
Good video buddy 👍
fast forward to forgotten land and he's the only one out of meta knight and dedede who's playable, has lines of dialogue, multiple at that, and actually had a lot of character to him
Forgotten Land solidified him as the Luigi of the series. A coward who steps up when he needs to, and I think that’s perfect for him
@@catsorafgc i know he had one line where he says how he feels good that hes keeping up with someone as strong as kirby and it made him feel really strong/special and i thought it was really cute
like he may doubt himself and his abilities but when the time comes he will step up and take on responsibility. also how he says he's always ready to join you on your adventure when you need him
@@leahcim6941 Yep, I don’t mind the fact that he’s not as fleshed out as Dedede or Meta Knight. There’s beauty in simplicity too. Hopefully they keep his Luigi-esque role in later games. Would also be nice if he could upgrade his spear too lol
@@catsorafgc yeah, even though there's not much of it i actually love his character, and if you think about it, for a waddle dee, which usually just carry around dedede, feed him, and get thrown around, bandana dee is extremely brave
This is a road to 1 million subs
We're gonna be waiting a while, my dude
