I just picked up a brand new fully loaded 2SS. Traded in my 2010 2SS. Man, what a difference!!! I feel like this car is twice as fast and its so LOUD!!!
i have a 14 ss.. lots of fun! competative mode doesnt completely disable stabilitrac but it makes it so that it doeant restrict spinning as much. if you want it completely off hold the button down t sec. you will get the same two yellow lights on the dash but competative mode wont come on. then its hold on for dear life lol. enjoy and be safe!
Competitive mode also enables launch control in the manual. Another reason one may want competitive mode and not want all the electronic nannies off is because that would include turning off the active torque vectoring.
It actually turns off traction control but leaves stabilitrak on. They key thing is it lets you get more spin or rotation in corners before stabilitrak intervenes.
2SS MT 2012 here. I just came across this post and now I have some doubts about how I have been using Competitive Mode. Here is why: press button Once - TC Off light goes on, press the button Twice - Stability Track Competitive Mode flashes on the screen, after that both lights , TC Off and ST Off goes on. So I thought that in Competitive Mode all nannies were off. Now I will have to re-check in real life. Perhaps on the 2012 5Gen it worked different than in the 6Gen. Good I saw this video or I had never give a second look at it.
The 2020 SS 1LE comes with a performance traction management system that allows you to select additional modes based on surface conditions. You can select wet, dry, sport 1, sport 2 and Race. 2020 performance manual states that PTM is only available on the ZL one, however, I definitely have it on my SS1LE. Sort of like an Easter egg or something. I don’t know why they provide misleading information in the manual but there it is. “PTM integrates the TCS, StabiliTrak/ESC, and Competitive Driving Mode systems to provide improved and consistent performance when cornering. The amount of available engine power is based on the mode selected, track conditions, driver skill, and radius of each corner”. The 1LE is a completely different machine than the standard SS. A lot of people think it’s just brakes and upgraded wheels and tires and suspension. Even the eLSD is calibrated uniquely for 1LE.
Agreed, they are two different machines. The question is are you using the 1LE for what it was designed to do? If your going to track the car then 1LE all day long accept nothing else. If your not tracking the car then you could be wasting your money. For what your going to spend to get the 1LE you could buy the wheel tire package, splitter and 1LE spoiler and have a car that looks just like the 1LE and spend the rest of your money on engine mods. Yes the upgraded brakes and suspension components are a huge upgrade but hardly something that will be needed on the street. The 1LE is one hell of a car for the money and if you can find the right deal on one that fits your budget then by all means go for it. That said a regular SS would probably satisfy the needs of most and you'd have money to spare.
I found this by mistake messing with buttons.. lol.. and it was amazing, but... SS still lays black stripes down the road and ruins my 60 time, lol ... I like it, I had last car remap to do this, I love the old school driving feel...
I have a 2018 2SS with the 8 speed auto transmission and I noticed one day I punched on it for a few seconds and let off of it and competitive mode was displayed in the DC without activating it. Try it and see. I've seen that two or three times now.
Competitive mode when I've used it allows you to stage the car without power braking. If memory serves me around 2800 rpms car will basically stage then you launch by letting the brake go of course... Hang on for second if your not on the track because it will tend to spin a little. All in my own personal accounts of course.
HOLY CR**! 0-60 in 3.6 seconds?!? That is INSANE! How is that even POSSIBLE?!? That is like C6 Z06 numbers! How much do you attribute that to your replacement rims and tires? :)
Nah but if you are going to abuse it... At least go sport and before you turn it off let it cool down a bit... I try to drive around at least a bit (around10 minutes)
+Lethalhammer Great videos man! Your so far the only person I can find that does videos over the 6th gen camaro that do blogs about it. Keep the videos coming! Just wondering but are you going to be getting a new exhaust on it?
+Grey Knight Delight I will be replacing the secondary cats first and doing ported heads. If I am not liking the sound at that point, going to re-plumb the entire thing and do a cat back system. Looking at Stainless Works.
Two different things. Perfo4mance shifting will auto turn on, it's not something we have control over. It literally steps in when it feels like the car is being driven aggressively
In this video your car seems to be a lot quieter inside then other video's I have watched, road noise etc. What tires did you replace the stock tires with?
in autox sport2 is always my fastest time but by holding it down 5 seconds and turning stabilitrak/esc completly off it becomes the most fun as you can have unlimited wheelspin without the nannies kickin in while drifting a corner just don't crash as the computer wont save you anymore. Easier then the pedal dance in my FR-S to completely kill the vsc and tc so i can actually drift that slow shitbox.
Actually it is pretty useful especially with high power cars that are not stock or in situations when you need more traction. But to the point of your question: You said 'YOU' knew this because of the 5th gen had it. My response: Not everyone on my channel owned or knows about 5th gen Camaros.
3.6 0 to 60 time....come on bro....going downhill doesn't count....lol. Idk what performance mods you've done to your car as I'm not familiar with it, but i havent seen pro drivers get those times out of these cars. that's faster than the corvettes which are lighter. sorry but I'll have to see a video before I believe that. would like to run that camaro in my 03 cobra
I'd say it wouldn't win most of the time. I don't think I'd say it couldn't win. the camaros put around 400-405 to the wheels that I've seen....I've seen stock numbers on cobras anywhere from 360 to almost 390 on a few factory freaks.....mine was 376 stock...that's around a 20 to 25 hp difference in cars that both are around 3600ish pounds, both run in the 12s in the 1/4 at 110+mph.....the edge would go to the camaro but a good driver in a cobra could give an average driver in the camaro a problem. I like the new camaros alot but I don't think I'll be getting rid of my cobra anytime soon, especially considering it's gonna be getting a pulley and tune soon, and only has 16,800 miles on it

Stock at that!! I feel like the Gen 6’s stock exhaust note is louder than aftermarket Gen 5 exhaust options.
It took me 5 minutes of watching to realize you weren't going to do donuts in your car....because you were going to pick up donuts. lol
+Michael Gross lol

The fact that all of the transaction control features and safety features didn’t turn off. It was saved my life one day lmfao .be safe y’all

can't you turn traction control off and leave stabilitrac on by hitting the traction control button?
+Chuck Davis yes
so then, competition mode is something different. I've heard it descrbed as a less intrusive traction control. is that right?
+Chuck Davis that's basically right.
I have a 2012 2ss camaro and I'm going to try this out right now wish me luck much love from Florida.
Do all 2016 camaros have the 0-60 timers and launch control or is it only 2SS and autos. Just curious...
just so happened to be eating a Krispy Kreme in my car while watching this. also in competitive mode.
Nothin like doin doughnuts in competitive mode, no matter the brand. Ha!
U funny lmao
When I saw the title, I thought you were going to be spinning "donuts". Frosted donuts are just as good.

I am serious holding out for the 2017 ZL1.
Long press ESP knob will turn off both and Stability control and Traction control.

But DO NOT us it if your new to high Horse Power cars! It can hurt you! Be safe!
You ran a 3.6 stock???
I have try it works good and you can feel when the wheel hooks to the street and less wheel spinning
I double tap every time I get in my car
I have a cammed 5th gen with m228 wheels and nitto drag radials and my take off is horrible. Maybe this will help?
Hey I have a question . I was doing all my drifting & donuts in competitive mode, was that bad on the car ?
+Carolina Solis No, but you might just want to turn everything off next time.
This is dope man I didn’t know this about my 18 camaro ss I will definitely use it soon and see what the difference is 🙏🏻👌🏼
Can anyone tell me how to make the car start in track mode? Its jeeps defaulting to tour
I have a 2018 2SS with the 8 speed auto transmission and I noticed one day I punched on it for a few seconds and let off of it and competitive mode was displayed in the DC without activating it. Try it and see. I've seen that two or three times now.
That one is performance shifting not competitive mode i do it all the time lol.
How is your camera so stable? Whenever I try to film in my SS, my camera shakes more violently than Michael J. Foxx
a good suction cup mount.
What are all the setting you used to get your best 0-60 ? Nannies? What mode? Competitive? Preloading to a certain Tom?
My car swept me off the road to the bushes full of mud yesterday because of that. I thought i wreck it.

What would cause one to not go in competitive mode?
Can you use launch control with traction control off?
I just use it almost eat the stop sign😂😂😂
HOLY CR**! 0-60 in 3.6 seconds?!? That is INSANE! How is that even POSSIBLE?!? That is like C6 Z06 numbers! How much do you attribute that to your replacement rims and tires? :)
+victor bozzo It's a mix of the wheels being lighrer, wider tires giving better grip and the Vitesse throttle controller.
Lethalhammer, Good to know. That is pretty amazing though. :O
+Lethalhammer dont think so
I use it when launching on the street, 0-60 4.0
What a useful video!!!!! Thanks so much!
Glad it was helpful!
this is great to know I hadn't even gone through my owners manual. right on lethal
Yea my dealership told me about this when I got the car I'm kinda like I don't know if you should touch that lol
Is changing between drive modes while driving bad for your car ?
Nah but if you are going to abuse it... At least go sport and before you turn it off let it cool down a bit... I try to drive around at least a bit (around10 minutes)
+Lethalhammer Great videos man! Your so far the only person I can find that does videos over the 6th gen camaro that do blogs about it. Keep the videos coming!

+Grey Knight Delight I will be replacing the secondary cats first and doing ported heads. If I am not liking the sound at that point, going to re-plumb the entire thing and do a cat back system. Looking at Stainless Works.
+Lethalhammer I bet it will sound awesome!
Time will tell.
I have a v6 and when I'm in sport mode performance shifting is enabled. Any idea if it's the same thing as competitive mode?
Two different things. Perfo4mance shifting will auto turn on, it's not something we have control over. It literally steps in when it feels like the car is being driven aggressively
How do u turn Sport mode on?
Bro what's up can you tell me if I can mess anything up by getting a muffler delete on my one ss Chevy Camaro 2017
Do you have dual mode exhaust?
No
I just got the muffler took off
In this video your car seems to be a lot quieter inside then other video's I have watched, road noise etc. What tires did you replace the stock tires with?
+Jay “Hampton214” Simpson Went from the Goodyears to Pirelli p zero's
wait a sec , replacing tires removes road noise , really ?! really need to know
Where in socal are u?
Lol you guys don’t know cold 🥶 we in Canada 🇨🇦 hit -38 freezing cold lol anyway good vids
We’re just not crazy enough to live in that sort of weather :)
Stabilitrack competition mode.
Have you used launch control yet?
+ASH_ RC8R The A8 lacks Launch Control.
+Lethalhammer if you look on page 226 of manual it tells you how to use it for an auto.
+ASH_ RC8R It is basically doing a hard stop take off with Competitive mode on. Not much more :(
+Lethalhammer yeah. I have only used it on a manual. With SS A8 does it hold the RPMs at 4800 at WOT?
looking for a camaro Club I live in Valencia but willing to drive to meet or a show. I own a 2016 2ss
+Bill Miller That's a fat drive (about 2 1/2 hours) but if you're willing, we would love to have you come down.
WestCoastMaros are here in Los Angeles.
Just tried it and ate grass lol
Did you just say "Slippy Sliding?" lol
Love competitive mode👊

3.6 is crazy.
It likely has some mods and drag radials. The magazines have averaged 4 to 4.2 sec, with the auto.
Is your car a 1ss.
2ss
Do you know if I get a 1ss 1le .can I add blindspot mirrors
3.6....... Nice
nice vid #AllMuscleNoRice
we already know this mode from 5th gen camaro.. it is useless
Guess what? Most people never owned a 5th gen.
LethalGarage what is that suppose to mean? dude.. let me get this straight.. this mode is USELESS for all GM cars owners no matter what the gen is!!!
Actually it is pretty useful especially with high power cars that are not stock or in situations when you need more traction.
But to the point of your question: You said 'YOU' knew this because of the 5th gen had it. My response: Not everyone on my channel owned or knows about 5th gen Camaros.
Only thing useless here is this comment.
Click bait
+thizzjoseph Hook line and sinker... but really, you took this as click bait?
Wtf????

If it's a stock 03 cobra you won't stand a chance at all. I love them BTW best looking mustangs till today
+Raid a stock 03 cobra will not win.
Lethal Thats what i said ;)
