I love this! Particularly your very clever use of envelopes and the space to hold the composition note books! I love birds too so that helps I guess - well done - beautiful job!
Great idea of using 2 books to make the base of the lap book, I also like that you used vellum as pockets, this way one can still see the background paper. Neat idea to use envelopes to make the "folder" journal inside, one of these day I'm going to try and make something similar. Thank you for sharing.
Darlene, this is just lovely. I am renewed in my quest to make another lap journal after Nik's idea got me going with my first. I just love this idea of the two books joined together. Thanks so very much for sharing.
First time watching one of your videos and I’m totally in love with this stunning piece you’ve created. Oh my... you are talented! I watched Nik create her file folder and I have to say that I’m impressed at how you drew from her inspiration and made it your own. I love your style and I cannot wait to have a browse through your videos to see what else you have created. Thank you so much for sharing xx
Love your style of work! I’ve subscribed. Also, now I know what to do with my 30+ old calendars. Cleaver of you to use two books! I’m off to the thrift to get the same.
I use those college ruled composition books behind elastic often. However, I pull both front and back covers backwards and tear them off. Most of the ones I've done, pull off, leaving the papers stitched together. If I use a 12x12 paper, I leave the seam in the back, as one doesnt cover it. Sometimes I used rolled decorative paper and I don't have that problem. I do not attach the cover, I just slide it under the elastic so it can be reused. I'm not gentle when I tear the black or any other color, but the black seems to work better. I just yank that cover off. I haven't made my lapbook, yet. I do have single books that have allowed me to bullet journal this way. It's the same size as the extra large Cahier. (Ky-yay) My books I've chosen for a lapbook are rather big and I'm not yet sure how I'll work that out. It will definitely be a desk book because of weight, so maybe one side will be for correspondence. I love the pink in your book. The inside looks like a garden. I see a lot of Eva's envelope flips, for me. With my books being so large, my envelopes will start really big, I guess. Thank you for sharing and letting some inspiration come to me in this comment.
That's amazing and love all the florals. I had to laugh about what you said about the link and yellow together, I'm the same way! But those colors seem to always find each other weather we like it or not! This project is for the advanced, I'm at glue book 101. 😸 lol, TFS
Love this. Still waiting for Nik's final video. I haven't yet found two perfectly matches book to do this. This is very different from Nik's look, but I love it. Putting composition books in the elastics is brilliant!
You will probably cringe from the comment, however I went to my shelf of art books and chose volumes (6 & 7) of The New International Illustrated ENCYCLOPEDIA of ART in which I only had 7 volumes to begin with. It went to E. They measure 8 x 11 and I think will make two perfectly matched books for this project.
Hi Darlene. I just love your work. Is there any way by chance u would have the actual sizes of the envelopes you used? Both the large with the flap on the top and the letter style? I was hoping to try this making my own envelopes.
Hi There! I am so sorry I thought I had sent you an answer but I don't see it here. The large envelope was 9.5" x 5.75" and the letter style was 3 7/8" x 8 7/8'. I think that is a standard size letter envelope. Hope that helps
Hi Jean. Not sure of the paper name. I always pull my paper pads apart and have them stacked on my shelf. I really should keep track in case i want to find that type of paper again!
This lap book is awesome! So many places to hide little treasures! Love all the details. 💗
That's beautiful! I always love making things like this that can be used longer with the ability to replace the notebooks.
Isnt it funny how we all are different in our tastes? I adore pinks and yellows together so this made my heart sputter. Thanks for sharing

Is there a chance of you doing a tutorial on how you did the envelopes.
Hi Rochelle. I am working on a video idea for the envelopes
This is beautiful, what papers did you use?
Hi Jean. Not sure of the paper name. I always pull my paper pads apart and have them stacked on my shelf. I really should keep track in case i want to find that type of paper again!
I know what you mean!
Are you going to demo the steps in making this?
I have done a similar folio on my RUclips channel
