more! Ashihara, Enshin, Fudokan, Budokan, Oyama, Shidokan*,all Kyokushin IKOs (9), Shindokai, Seido Juku, Seidokaikan, Mumonkai, Zen Do Kai*, Sei-Budokai, Kudo Daido Juku*, Koei Kan, KOI Karate, Godokai, Kansuiryu (Inoki's Karate), Shurenkan, Byakuren, Yoshukai, Ryu Family karate, Kokondo, Kem/npo Karate*, Shukokai, Hayashi-ha, Shudokan, Sankukai + all kinds of freestyle and american karate... those are only from my mind but i think it's more than just 17... * maybe not the best examples.
My Kyokushin Master in Japan showed me this on VHS when I was at his place for a BBQ. We both shared a laugh, particularily at the intensity and the bear fight. DONT FUCK WITH KYOKUSIN. It kills bears DEAD. Haha yeah right.
@Jinkiro maybe in a street fight.... its hard to be tough enough when the guy is 15 feet away from you and already has his gun on its way out. You could be a 10th dan in 5 different martial arts but youre still going to be shot.
They have nothing to prove. That is a real Master. MMA fight by rules. Their training becomes very limited as to what they can do. REAL FIGHTING has NO RULES.
A human being is a person if they are from Tulsa Oklahoma USA or Iwakuni Shi Yamaguchi Ken Japan. If these 2 people started the martial arts at the same time you would see a fundamental difference in their art, I think that the cultural and social understanding of the art and how it should be tought and how it should be learned and its place in that society is going to produce a stronger one. A chudan suki is a chudan suki but with a greater understanding of it your waza will be better. Osu
yes, 3;10 is for real, Willie Williams, fought a bear, I felt sorry for the bear, he didn't ask for the fight, didn't want it, obviously, just wanted to get away, and some people wonder he was de-clawed? either way, that WW was (is?) a kick ass karate-ka, maybe, if not for politics, he might of been world-champ, any judge's decision would go to the nipponese fighter
exactly...they are all equaly strong... the only type that pisses me off is the mixed arts that don't really teach you the true meaning of karate... tiger sholmanns and family tree i think arent good because i have friends who went there and they all are crazy with threats of beating people up when the true meaning is self control and self confidence
@nordique59 Yeah really, have fun with the arthritis in your knees, ankles, shoulders and hands. Oh yeah, don't forget needing work done on your neck and spine. People just don't get it.
well i was thinking more of how karate over time ( after i guess the saturation and abuse martial arts got in the media through the 80's ) became more of child's play , at least in the west and that kinda thing consequently ruined karate .. that and the mma mentality of martial arts that came after
there is no strongest karate...every style is great if you know how to use it and if you train properly...man...there are so many ignorant people here...you wouldn't expect that from martial artists....
this karate style still alive ?...i mean the people keep training like this ? hurting them selves ?. i practice the shindo jinen-ryu karate style. and is safer than this style, but anyway shindo jinen-ryu karate style is as strong as this style.
actually shodokan karate is the strongest karate but not neccessarily the strongest martial art. muay thai is not the strongest either. and aikido is based on sword movements and not as aggressive. and another thing their straight punches are too high
This was back in 75 I was training in the first scene at Shihan S. Oyama's dojo (WhitePlains, NY)this was a monthly black belt training clinic.
And it had the best theme song too
That guy fighting the bear is awsome!
That's why we need the blood and guts back in Karate.
Forget makiwara, bring in the anvil.
man this was when karate was cool
even without them i think there are more than just 17 karate styles. Best Regards from Martial Arts psychooooooo :P
Ice on fire and hand to hand combat with bears! Is this video available in English?

Nobody on this planet has the same spirit as the kyokushin knock down fighter, nobody... The soldiers of Buddha
It's more about social pressure than it is about discipline.
@yckss17 becuz its a style of martial arts that competed in that tournament as well as kung fu
Was wondering if that was him. Thought I heard his voice a couple of times too. Osu Kaicho!
The Strongest Martial Arts is Karate!
And the Strongest Karate is
Kyokushin Karate.

lolll! In kyokushin they fight big guy! May be that's why the punches are high! :)
the black guy running at me in the beginning over and over scared me
When we are talking about self-defence and physical confrontation.. forget "safe".

I have to agree with kakorroto
It was a guy in a suit, Sonny Chiba is awesome and so is Kyokushin but it was still a guy in a suit.
Corney Music and japanese writing, apart from that it's good, did someone really fight a bear ?
yes, 3;10 is for real, Willie Williams, fought a bear, I felt sorry for the bear, he didn't ask for the fight, didn't want it, obviously, just wanted to get away, and some people wonder he was de-clawed? either way, that WW was (is?) a kick ass karate-ka, maybe, if not for politics, he might of been world-champ, any judge's decision would go to the nipponese fighter

opinions can be clearly wrong, as you show us
i don't think so
there is no strongest karate...every style is great if you know how to use it and if you train properly...man...there are so many ignorant people here...you wouldn't expect that from martial artists....
