      @nathanh2725 doesn't have to be super realistic just better than what it is or how things use to be which is better, right now its not very balanced pretty dumb to have to shoot twice if they're within 10 feet of me sometimes 3 times and thats if they dont turn around and kill you after 2+ hitmarkers and several clips online showing how certain things are flawed and they still don't address it. Just like how he showed the slugs point blank and nothing just a hit marker which then you die because it's broken.

    I've seen a lot of people talking about how this is a good shotgun because of the longer TTK. I went back to BO4 and double checked the stats there. The MOG12 was a secondary in that game and had a longer one shot kill range while that game still had a longer TTK.

      @@DamienDarkside of course they do, but the OG MW2 the guns killed in 2 actual bullets. You died before your brain could even register what was happening. Strong shotguns made sense

      @@DamienDarkside Nah. Not really. The KRM-262 was guaranteed to be a 2 shot kill because at the longest range it dealt 50 flat damage and only needed 1 pellet to hit at close range due to a 98 flat damage and every pellet dealing 2 damage no matter what. And when it comes to rate of fire the SPAS 12 in MW2 OG had literally only 1 point higher of a rate of fire when the KRM-262 was paired with rapid fire. (64 RPM with the SPAS-12 vs 63 with the KRM-262 w/rapid fire)
      The BO3 shotguns were largely better than all of the shotguns in MW2 barring the pre-patch Model 1887. The weakest of them was probably the Haymaker but that was still mostly comparable to the weakest of shotguns in MW2 OG.

      @@P4brotagonist Actually not even really the case that MW2 shotguns were better. The SPAS-12 was honestly weaker in most respects compared to the KRM-262 of BO3. I had already posted a breakdown of why in reply to the other guy here but overall the BO3 shotguns were better. And also more unique too. You have your pump-action, semi-auto, fully-auto, and even lever-action shotgun in both BO3 and MW2 OG, but also in BO3 the Banshii shotgun which was pump-action but fired a blue ball of energy that killed in one hit no matter where and with only one exception that had a travel time but no drop off and infinite range allowing for some really fun and unique moments with the gun unsee in any other Call of Duty game.
      BO3 shotguns were better. Although I do agree that MW2 shotguns were also powerful. I just don't think they were more powerful than BO3.

      It was like this in Sledgehammer's original MW3 (2011) when running shotguns with extended mags... no clue why... seems like old habits die hard

    I hope they rework the attachments. First off slug rounds should actually be useful. Also maybe switch the pellet counts around, where short barrels sacrifice range but provide better consistency, and vise versa for longer barrels.

      Eh, besides the Model 1887 in MW2, *maybe* the KSG in BO2 and the Brecci in BO3, this one is waaaaay above the rest on its own game. There's no comparison to be made, Lockwood 680 is the best shotgun in MWIII by far

      The general TTK in old cods was significantly faster so they had much more room to be crazy powerful. This shotgun is a beast relative to the generally slower ttk potential of regular guns

      Sorry but shotguns deserve to be bad. They should be a weak primary or strong secondary. Even great games like Black ops 2 had matches ruined by the Remington 870mcs shotgun... Im glad they got weaker over time.

    Im so glad you broke dawn the ammo. From the graphics (gun stats when adding attachments), you would think the Bolo gives you the best damage range and most improved damage... until you use it. Like you said its better to not use any of them at all.

    Well, I just got gold for all my ars and was moving on to the shotguns/lmgs for fun so this is perfect timing. I love the in depth analysis you provide, this game has the illusion of choice when there are 47 different attachments in each slot but ultimately there's only a few choices worth considering and you help narrow that down drastically.     This gun was even better before the sprint to fire nerf. Now you have no choice but to use a permanent laser and flashlight to snap. And it's still not fast enough

      I delete lobbies with this gun in tac-stance. Honestly think it needs to be nerfed more, or at least fix the 10 shell capacity long barrel giving me extra pellets because maybe that's what's causing this thing to be busted 😂

    Something just came to my mind, regarding the pellet count change with different barrel attachments.
    Back in OG MW3 during the release window, shotguns had a bug that would give them 50% more pellets if you put on extended mags on them.
    12 YEARS. SAME STUDIO.
    THE SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN.

      I like using the .410 Gauge Ball with Canted Laser. Basically acts like shooting a slug, with range and number of shots to kill, but you keep your pellet spread if you decide to hip fire.

      @@GhillieMaster Only bc the 680 absolutely needs to get the one-shot. Most times, you can't afford to miss or fail to land enough pellets. The Haymaker has a pretty good RoF and decently consistent two-shot. The Riveter can make up for mistakes with it's RoF and has range to spare. Both can extend their range with the canted laser and a couple of precise shots (until they decide to patch that out).

    Are there plans to add the hardcore ranges for any of the shotguns in a separate video? I'm assuming the shotgun that preforms best in the range category in standard would also be best in hardcore but if it takes 2 pellets to 1 shot someone rather than 5, the consistent 1 shot range should noticeably improve. As always though, thank you for doing the detailed look at all of these guns in a way no other content creator does Ace. You really are the best!!

    This gun is fairly good in Warzone as well it can take out most players in 3 shots and if you catch someone panicking and trying to run its basically a free kill.
    I did this to farm my weekly challenge getting 40 kills with a recommended weapon in warzone as i dont have the full game.
    And the Lockdown game mode was very helpful as i was getting into gunfights very often.
    Also i was only using the base version of the fame with no attachments and i was still gettimg kills fairly consistent.

    I've been using bolo rounds in tac stance. It has under a 1 degree spread in tac and 1 degree hipfire. Rate of fire doesn't matter if you hit and run and being frangible helps with that. It's honestly an underrated round for warzone and slower game modes.

    Yeah this is my bread and butter. Whenever a shotgun gets added in coming seasons im definitely gonna look these classes up. It is really stupid the shorter the barrel the fewer pellets in a shell, thats just asking for longer barrels to be used despite negative stats that shorter barrels rise above.

    I like the Lockwood 680 a lot and use it often as my secondary (with a build not much different than your own). However, I am amazed at the number of point blank hit markers I get to the chest. And there is no second shot with the TTK in the game. If, for some reason, it decides to give you a hit marker then you are dead. I still enjoy it, but you have to be prepared for the inconsistency.

    Lockwood 680 is the ONLY shotgun that’s good in MW3. MW2 shotguns are a joke and no amount of updates will make them relevant in MW3. If anyone else tells you otherwise, then they are lying to you.

    Kind of surprised you didn't cover the build that effectively breaks tac stance and makes pellets hit in a grouping that effectively mimics a slug round.

      It’s not worth the downsides in my opinion since you can hit nearly all of your pellets within the one shot potential range on a less extreme build just fine

      @@Honeneko. Nah not the canted. You go all in on hipfire/tac attachments basically and you can break the crosshair in tac stance with an impossibly tight spread.

    I wish they would add the Model 1887 and SPAS-12 and a 10 Gauge Shotgun and the best counter to the Riveter aka the AA-12. I really wish Sledgehammer Games would add their trademark weapon the Blunderbuss in MW3 it was an amazing tradition for them to add it in all their games then they stopped in Vanguard. Imagine the Blunderbuss in a modern game with 3D printed aftermarket parts and custom ammo types. They could make the musket ball the slug round for the Blunderbuss lol.
    They need more shotguns and marksman rifles and pistols and launchers in this game. I also think the L86 and M60 would be perfect LMGs for this game. Some pistols that would be amazing are the M9 aka a semi-automatic renetti, the USP.45, the Socom M1911A1, the M1911 for those who like the classic version. Other pistols that would be cool are the Five Seven and MP412 and the 44 Magnum and the marksman pistol known as the Contender G2 and previously known as the G1. The Contender G1/G2 would basically be like running around with the RW1 from Advanced Warfare. The launchers they could use is the China Lake, Stinger, XM25, MLG-320 and the launcher that shoots guided rockets. As for marksman rifles and sniper rifles they can add anything they want but they should consider the M118A1 from the original MW3. If they add another marksman rifle they should add the AR-10 since it made a comeback in modern times. If they add a battle rifle they should add a M16 with more stopping power in burst fire mode and it becomes way harder to control in full auto so basically it won't have semi auto and full auto it will have burst fire and full auto instead.

    I just can't justify using this gun given how much larger most of the maps are in this game compared to previous CoDs and how much more versatile other one shot weapons are. These maps were designed with shotgun being secondaries yet they're worse than they've ever been in recent memories.

    Crown choke??? That thing is AMAZING with full hipfire build. For somewhat reason you always think chokes are for ads builds as since MWII you never show how they impact hipfire spread. But they do, and they do a lot.

    I run this gun all the time. I call mine the orphanizer. 712 barrel, sawed off hilt, light bolt, the wooden guard, leaving it at 4/5. And if i feel like it for the memes dragon breath (which should increase kill potential not limit it and make it worse by making it resisted by EOD)

    ⁠ Finally made it to shotguns. Please cover slugs. Slugs are so much harder to kill with in this game. The damage drop off is so bad it takes 2 headshots to kill at unreasonably close distances. Tested slugs in old and new guns at release.

    Explosive slugs should 100% be a 1shot kill at any range period
    Balance it by limiting it to 4 rounds in the tube or give it even slower velocity and even more drop

    I found a build on my own that is very consistent and fast with one shot kills. Really like it but really hope we get the SPAS-12 back.

    The MW2 shotguns were so much better, it’s a shame. They were also the only shotguns in any COD game that I really enjoyed using slugs with, and could actually be fairly competitive with them.

    The fact that almost all alternate ammo types for shotguns are nearly useless, as well as the Lockwood MK2, SPR-208, and SA-B 50 being so underpowered compared to all other marksman rifles and most shotguns, just shows that while they are GETTING THERE, Sledgehammer has a long way to go to learn how to nail weapon balance. Explosive sligs being a one hit kill ONLY to the head is... ridiculous, to be honest

    I gotta disagree with the stock of the tac stance build, the speed slowdowns are too much and you really don't need the hip/tac buffs that it provides. Sawed off is perfectly fine

    I’d say the Lockwood 680 is my favorite shotgun in MW3. Solid ADS spread and a consistent one-shot killing potential in my opinion. That’s all there is.

    Hay Ace, can you also make an acknowledgement of the matuzek lightbearer ergo guard. As it stands right now it is currently bugged. Right now in it's description it reads "comes with an integrated flashlight". However if you actually equip it you'll notice that the "flashlight" is actually a laser sight. Needless to say... that ain't right. Just one thing thats been really bugging me because I really want the flashlight part of my flashlight and I feel crazy as if I'm the only one who's noticed.

    Shotguns need a og buff bring them back to the old days which was more realistic damage especially slugs, Cod ww2 was the last good balanced game to me and better animations. They need to bring back the og striker and aa12 same damage and range they had.

    What’s odd to me is that the 680 compared to the 600 or whichever the MW2 ones name was I forget has less damage but overall I’ve found has actually better one shot kill potential which idk why it does that I’m guessing the MW2 shotties don’t have a proper body modifier or are suffering from the marksman rifle bug where hitting the arm and then body will give you the arm damage and not the body but idk. It’s odd

      Yes. If you're talking about the time between shots. If you meant, from empty to full, then no. RPM is calculated is calculated with the thought that you can continuously fire without going empty.

      Yes, but the pump attachment doesn’t help all that much and you’re better off spending that attachment on something else.

    I have avoided any attachments that make flinch worse for 1 one shot weapons. Is that not really necessary in this game? I feel like in mw2 it made a shotgun unusable

    I had dudes survive 2 point blank center of mass and only die on a third that got lucky and caught his arm as he did his zippy shit trying to dodge me.
    Either Desync is fucking the hit detection or there's some kind of issue beyond that.

    It would be cool if you did these vids for the mw2 guns. Like short "this is how this gun changed from mw2, otherwise its the same and just go watch the mw2 one" the mw2 shotguns feel much worse than the mw3 ones.

    I feel like comparing this to the semi auto shotguns isn't comparable. I would rather you compare this gun to the one shot capable guns from MWII instead. Obviously this would be unnecessary for weapons that have similar weapons in the same category.

    How does the fire rate adjust with the different guards and bolts combined. And do the barrels effect pallet and slug count on the alt ammo types or just buckshot?

      Yes, the barrels do have effect on incendiary rounds but not on slugs.

    I thought mw2 shotguns were bad in that game.. but once this game got released, these shotguns are even worse. The only potentially good shotgun is the haymaker, but the carry forward shotguns from mw2 are complete trash, every single on needs a buff. Even the mw3 ones, like the old Bryson 800 that had a one shot range of 19 meters can’t even one shot anymore, the max is like 4 meters now, and the expidate 12 had a range of 11 meters, now it can’t one shot it all. Yes they might me afraid to have another vanguard shotgun issue or mw2019 issues, but those were the glory days of shotguns and they were very strong, but they had their limitations, there needs to be a careful balance to them. Right now they are so hard to use, especially with the nature of the maps, no one is uses a shotgun on wasteland or derail, or all the bug maps, but if you gave the pumps a increased one shot range out to 15m-25m range (with drawbacks) they would much more viable, same with the automatics, the kv broadside for a example was amazing in mw2 but now it’s horrible, same with the 2 shot Lockwood 700, it’s a pillow launcher now. Especially with the new hipfire system that they are using where the hipfire isn’t as good as ads, if they increased ranges for shotguns it wouldn’t be so bad. And again even if you had increased range they could decrease the potential in other areas like ads speed and stuff. A good indicator for shotgun balance was when vanguard was released, maybe with slight tuning, I remember the gracy auto was so broken but that was specifically a ammo type, same with the pump, but once that was tuned town they were balanced. That’s another conversation, the ammo types, why in the world are they soooo bad like useless bad, at least give them potential, the fire breaths are ok, but that has gotten worse this game also, fire breath you should be garenteed a one shot within the one shot range, no weird up close hit markers, and it should increase your range a little and potentially get you a kill further away one shot. Kinda like vanguard did. Only thing I will say about Vanguard doing wrong with their shotguns is the dual wielding shotgun thing that thing was a little broken, but eventually they balanced it out. But in summary, the shotguns in this game suck.
