Had my 2015 STI since 2017. Got it used with 20,000 miles on it. Now it has 155,000 miles. Has coils, Volk wheels, Recaro Japan seats, all bushing upgrades, Cusco braces, turbo and equal headers and it’s A perfect balanced car.
Just wanted to say thank you for your videos about daily driving your STI. The RUclips algorithm lead me to your channel and I think and believe it was meant to happen. I’m a father/husband and got a son who is 6 years old living here in SoCal and I drive a 2020 pure red STI. I’ve had my STI since brand new and I am the only owner, I am now owning it for 3 going on 4 years and I’ve been back and forth of keeping my STI or not. I’m 39 years old now and I literally waited 17 years to own my dream car, my STI. Your detailed review literally gave me a transparent realistic review and feedback which is making me want to keep my STI for now. I’ve explored the idea with my wife switching to a mid size SUV, but I damn sure going to miss the iconic “subie rumble” and I know I’m going to cry and miss having my dream car. Keep up the good content, maybe one day I’ll road trip my STI and somehow meet up with you in Las Vegas for that Subie owner love. Respect ✊
Heck yeah man. So glad to meet others in similar situations 🙏🏼 even more stoked to help you keep it even a little bit longer. literally stole the words from me, thing has been a dream car for the longest time and I can’t imagine getting rid of it for a Palisades. Would love to meet up on if these days man, you and your fam take care 💪🏼
A great video brother. I own 2020 STI and I bought it here in Sandiego Ca, @an Escondido Carmax in Jan 2022. I purchased it with 9,421k miles. I will never sell this car and I owned a 2017 Wrx before my world Rally Blue Bluebaru STI. There is a big difference. I daily drive my STI from Oceanside Ca to Irvne ca. 50 miles each way. I love my commute. No power mods, only a Vortex Generator, it came with mudflaps, and I put on rain guards @irvine Subaru where I do my maintenance. I use to live in Vegas when I retired from. The US Navy I. 2007 to 2013. We lived i. Summerland by the Redrock Casino. Stay safe and subies forever 😊
the video is edited so well to fit exactly what you're talking about, that it feels so relaxed like if it was a conversation. definitely going to sub and hope to see more of your vids!!
I daily my 2020 STI, often with the family in the car and it's a great all rounder. Sure it chew's a little more juice than some other cars but it's worth every cent IMO
Good shit, man. I got an Evo X a couple years ago and it shares most of these pros and cons. Even with all the negatives, I never regret buying one of my attainable dream cars. I do, however, blame it for sending me down this rabbit hole of buying MORE cars, lol
Nice I actually grew up wanting Evos more too, but the market just went too crazy with them. These things really are stepping stones for more expensive toys 💀
Good video. I have owned an 08 WRX and now a 18 STI. It was my daily for about 25000 miles. Now I have a Jeep for my daily so... I put a bit into the STI. The biggest thing is GO THROUGH A PRO. Very few performance mods can you add without a pro/ pro tune. I should make a video on all of this. I have been in this market of ownership for almost 15 years.
heck yeah man, what an upgrade. Here I am looking at new Santa Fe’s 😅 and yes that’s exactly what I’ve been hearing. Getting a professional tuner is absolute key. So cool to see you stuck with the community for all this time
I bought my STI new back in 2019 and can relate to most of your points. The best mod I did was to replace the 19” wheels with 18” WRX wheels. Better ride, acceleration, mileage all in one.
Wanted to get one back in 2021 of November but unfortunately they stoped orders for the sti’s and none were in dealer lots in a 500 mile radius. Recently got a 24 tr in wr blue for cheap. Currently love driving the tr and mpg isn’t too bad
@@onsite_nate I'd say go for it! Absolutely love the car. Though I haven't owned anything like it before. Prior I had a 2017 civic si coupe, and a 2013 civic si coupe.
Just found your channel and RUclips sent me to exactly what I wanted haha (just subbed). I was considering an STI, living in Michigan, Subbies and snow are best buddies, I know. I've always wanted an STI but buying a car that you have to really baby it (considering "unhealthy" for the engine to go past 6100 rpm) to keep it alive, wouldn't feel like accomplishing my dream. I'm also considering a GR86, Evo X or V6/V8 Muscle car (as there aren't many windy roads in MI). Those options would be for daily driving and I have no kids. Penny for your thoughts?
So glad I could add some insight! But yeah, maybe it’s blown out of proportion but it does worry me and it’s sad because it’s a performance car haha. There are reliability mods that are widely recommended. I’ll say though trying to find an mint Evo X at a reasonable price might be difficult compared to the STI, plus it’s a 10yo car still so I’m not sure how much more reliable those are. If you want an all weather sports car, GR Corollas or Golf Rs seem solid 👌🏼 Or look into STI with an extended powertrain warranty. Other than the motor every other component seems to be bullet proof
@@onsite_nate I know about the reliability mods, Killer B oil pickup, oil pan and tray, AOS, Radiator, Oil cooler, Cyl 4 cooling mod but its like 2k just on parts, Oil pan job is prob a pain in the ass I wouldn't do it myself and my budget is 35k max. Toyota is denying warranty in GRCs in case you went past 85mph, its ridiculous
😊 get some fueling and do a tune it's crazy hot out. They're so sleepy especially 93 there's so meant to run on higher octane. I can't remember but I thought they revved out to like 6800 VF falls off like 55 or something anyway.
I so regret selling my 2019 sti limited I had almost 9 grand into that car over a period of 6 years but I just found out that they’re being back the sti idk what year but it will be a tribute sti we will get the new electric and the FA24 but it will have 405hp came from a reliable source that is high up in the chain of Suburu
Ah yeah Johnny Lieberman and his source haha. Just heard of this and it has me wondering for sure.. I’m betting if it’s true it’ll be 50-55k+ which hurts 🥲
what’s up man welcome to the community 🤠 thanks for the support, I’ll make sure to share as much insight as I can. Can’t wait to see what your next/first Japanese car will be
Have you had a chance to try the other non-STI trims? I'm not a performance nut (I enjoy driving slow cars fast) and not only are the Premium and Limited options easier to find, they probably are under-stressed in terms of tune, and with more forgiving performance intervals.
Long time ago I tested the VA gen WRX and thought it was amazing compared to my RSX at the time. Imo better daily drivers compared to these. Can’t go wrong with either 👌🏼
I want to buy a car with finance but I'm stuck which car should i go with . My budget is around 40k and so i was think of wrx sti sport or kia stinger gt. Any suggestions??
hey man, can’t speak much about the Stinger but I’m sure it’s probably much faster stock. for me I’ve always wanted these things, and when I see them on the road I get pretty excited despite having one for more than 2yrs
Most forward answer yes if you got the gas money since it gulps gas I had a 2015 sti which blew up great car until the end, ended up getting a GR Supra but it got totaled now I drive an rsx😂
@@onsite_nate I’m not saying you can’t but most people have more then one kid and the wife where’s the pants unless ur a rocket scientist and make a lot of money soon u will have a mini van
The WRX by far has the shittiest resale value. I bought my 2014 WRX for 20K with low miles in 2021 and now I can find them for 8-13K. Overall though I’d say the WRX is a better driver as long as you’re not trying to make it fast 😂 little lighter, cheaper maintenance and parts, smaller wheel and tire, better MPG, not as packaged out so less things to go wrong, cloth seats easier to maintain and better for the heat, cheaper clutch change etc. Funny enough you mentioned the road noise inside cause it fucking sucks! By far the worst thing about the WRX-STI platform.
Forsure. my brain tells me the WRX but my heart wants an STI it’s so terrible haha. And yeah the road noise especially with the seats down when you have your friends gear is awful 😅
@@onsite_nate no i get you but you see i love my wrx fixed all the bad mods and replaced them with proper stuff and got a tune for the wrx. Right now it pushes the same number as the sti.
😅 Dude you got to work on your cuts. This thing was put together by a 15-year-old. This thing feels like dragon Ball z. I'm out there that way every once in awhile I think I'm in a seen your car
I used to daily my 2015 STi but with the gas prices, she now just gets driven a few days in 2 weeks lmao. I do love driving it tho, but as a daily? that clutch will get you tired real quick
Hello fellow LV subie owner! Great job with the video, you hit lots of key points. Hope to see you on the road ✌🏼 (btw does your sti hate our summer heat as much as my 21 wrx does? So sluggish 🥲)

think that’s one unspoken benefit of these cars is the fact that you can enjoy it with multiple people vs a 2 seater 💪🏼
Same! Two car seats in the back fit great. The kids never want mom to drive her car… 😂

I daily drove an Evo IX for over a decade. It was a pain in the ass some days but I do miss it from time to time.
I was mid sip drink and spat it out when you said “my 370z rwd can easily be a 360 Z in the rain” 😂
those cars will get you 💀
Bro it’s so real. I have a 2009 370z 6MT and it is so insanely unstable in the rain. The wheels spin under tiny acceleration on a damp road.
Thanks for commenting on my favorite car !
of course! hope this helped
