- After a long time, the SMBX community finally started the third edition of the "Make A Good Level X" level contest, together with the talkhaus forums! And for this occasion, the dev team released a special new build of SMBX2 as a preview for the Beta 4, so let's take a look at what it has to offer!

Mario Maker 2: Makes a huge update
SMBX:
SMBX has been superior since it came out. It's like comparing a fan-game to a rom-hack. SMBX 1.3 alone is superior compared to what Super Mario Maker 2 can do because it had a lot of elements and events and layers unlike SMM2 which is limited. It's more self-friendly usage but I think 1.3 is easy language to learn because I learned how to use 1.3 editor myself when I was a kid easily and fair.
And for the sake of competition, SMBX 2.0 would blow the water out of SMM2 because not only it has new Npcs, blocks, backgrounds, effects and more features but YOU CAN USE LUNALUA CODING SCRIPTS TO ANYTHING YOU WANT!
@@DevilMarioProductions SMBX2 is obviously more powerful, but Mario Maker has always focused on accessibility.
@@davinchristino Honestly, SMBX2 is fairly easy editor. If I've learned the SMBX editor back then when I was a kid, anyone can!
@@DevilMarioProductions Trying to compare SMM and SMBX is like trying to compare a firework popper to TSAR Bomba.
While the most you can do in SMM2 is just upload one map with 8 max worlds, people have managed to create entire games just with SMBX. Because all assets are swappable along with lunalua being able to have custom scripts play out, and because there are forums containing countless pre-made graphics and scripts that can be mixed and matched, the possibilities with SMBX are truly endless.
The best part about this? IT'S ALL FREE! Unlike the lofty prices of the SMM games, literally anyone with a PC can create their own thing with SMBX, allowing for anyone who just knows how to run an app on a computer to play it. Ever better is the absolute flood of quality levels made with love and care by it's community, so even if you don't want to make a level, there's still an immeasurable amount of hours worth of content that the community has made.
As an added bonus, it's also still getting updates unlike either SMM (X2 Beta 5 pog)
SMBX doesn’t mess around.
What i would want (if there is something already in the game tell me):
-NPCs that fly
-More powerups
-SMM2 Objects (not all obviously)
-Horizontal Thwomps
-The ability to put more than one custom powerup pack
New powerups aren't going to be made probably, but about flying enemies and MM2 objects you have a pretty good choice (interactable springboards, lineguides and other stuff)

They actually have horizontal thwomps, but they look kinda’ weird! XD
This needs auto-tiles and NPC-Wings to be perfect.
Autotiles are (let me guess) the way SMM’s tiles are placed

The ting i want the most in the editor is to change how big is the screen. It wood make me so happy if that feature comes into SMBX2, because i hate how big is the screen in SMBX.

So I got this like less than 3 months ago and im loving it. And I wanted to say a few things
For starters the gameplay is so fluid it's better than water.
I would like ti see some of the powerful from 38a here too like the mini at room or the propeller suit.
Also if you could, make it so you can use custom music in world maps. I used the hub based world because of this.
All in all. Thr game is without a doubt the best
God I remember playing around with the level editor so much it's really fun

I think that if you plucked a power up/enemy from a vegetable weed you should only be able to hold it for a second or so before it interacts with you as if you touched it normally, instead of being able to hold it indefinitely

Most of the new 38A NPCs have been ported to smbx2 basegame or using lunalua

The thing i hate about this is how it's wierd to do events and layers (tried to make a boss drop something different but i can't figure out where are certain buttons)

NPCs with wings are in 1.4, this is 2.0 and it's a separate version

me fez lembrar que esse x2 meu deu uma maior dor de cabeca. quando consegui botar ele era igualzinho o x1 so que tinha como jogar com mais personagens e dps eu fiz um negocio e parou de funcionar e tentei varias vezes instalar e desinstalar e tentei varias vezes mas parou msm, eu disse que me deu uma maior dor de cabeca. uma pena nao terem feito o x3. ai vc tem um video de como fazer um mapa, ele funcionar e tal❓

Thank you for making this video. It really helped me a lot in making a Mario level in SMBX2. I was wondering, do you know if you can change Mario's sprite from the other games instead of only Super Mario Bros 3? Super Mario World is my favorite 2D Mario game and I would like to use that Mario sprite from Mario World instead if that's possible.
Of course you can! You only need a proper sprite

You can try in Squishy Rex's GFX Pack
@@warhawk159 Its already in your graphics folder. Simply grab an Ace looking block in the MISC tab in the editor. Spawn it and then play the level. Hit the block and you'll switch costumes.

I'm very sorry for not responding to you guys months before. For some reason RUclips did not let me know that both of you responded to my question. Anyways thanks for the help guys, I finally got it to work. I now know how to change Mario's sprite.

Wenn will official 2.0 released so that you can play without bug or almost bug-free? Because sometimes on bigger levels in old version (not this beta) i have problem with loading and many lags in level and sometimes the music for the level does not start but is set in the editor. Just want shorter loading times and no longer no music ingame.
Please make keep updating this. They are making good progammer work.

This new editor is a bit tricky at first glance but it has a lof of useful features the 1.3 editor didn't have
Also how did you playtest the level
You press F5 to playtest

@AndrewPixel Well, that's what I said. I downloaded older BETA 3 (.rar) and tried it with Avast + VirusTotal. I didn't find anything. Now the new BETA 4 came out so I downloaded it. I don't know why it's setup, at least I won't have to extract it anymore. I'll turn it on and Avast block it. Turned off avast and Defender Blocks me. Then I put it in VirusTotal. It found AdWare. (CoinMining) Now I don't know if it's advertising in the game or in the launcher. I would understand. Because it feels like shit. SMBX2 and some AdWare. Well, I'd like you to tell me about it. Well thank you.

Yeah when you download a level you download every script the level uses, you can also upload your content to the forums
I downloaded it, but when I try to launch it, I get an error that says "The code execution cannot proceed because VCRUNTIME140.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix this problem." is there a solution to fix this or something?
Your SMBX2 folder should come with a vc_redist, install that.
@@gamesnark8692 There is two them in the folder, one with a 64 at the end and another with an 86 at the end, which one do I install?
@@ScoobyDude1998 I recommend you just install 64, as that's the only one you need.
Edit: Or yeah, the 86x version if you use a 32 bit computer.
If you have a 64-bit machine, install 64, but if you have a 32-bit machine, install 86.

I Don't Know Why When I Edit a Sprite with png,when i test the level,the program says that the changes can be done,but the level still has it's custom sprites and also,sometimes,it doesn't!
Super Mario X ( and 2 ) always made SMM ( agan and 2 ) look like an joke not to say it free, but does it has a virus cuz the site isnt securized for some reason
It isn't a virus, altough it may be detected as false positive

how do i probably start this game? because last time it said ''error there was a file named ''VCRUNTIME140.dll'' on the program you need to reinstall it to fix the problem'' so i reinstalled it and tryed it but the same error was here so i instead install vc_redist.x86 witch was the 32 bit version and the vc_redist.x64 witch was the 64 bit version and i restarted my computer i tryed it and it now worked but there was a problem it was instead the white screen that was here for 10 minutes so i waited longer but it would'nt go away so i restarted the game and its the same thing! :( can someone help me how to play the whole game please? ;-;

Not exactly, the only thing similar to the old editor is the toolbox, the rest is pretty new

This game is basically SMM2 but better, free and on PC. There is no longer any reason to buy SMM2.
