4:38 I had a really interesting call about Zassacre Zirl on the Sunday event. Opponent flashed in dog umbra to protect a Magic Bandit in response to my Zirl. The call was, does Zassacre girl make their card stop being a commander even if it does not destroy the creature? There is no conjunctions like "if you do, then" on Zassacre Girl, so we asked some judges. After some time the judges delivered their card was not a commander anymore. Maybe obvious but it was interesting nonetheless.
Hey Gavin Thank you for hosting these awesome events! I participated in Sunday's event and it was full of emotions. I was excited when opening my pool and seeing all the cards I got but my excitement decreased along deck-building when my best pool colors were Blue and Green and I had no commanders to use them in pairs. I ended up building from my test cards, The Duke of Midrange (aka Reid Duke) a super low curve Jund commander deck. I wasn't convinced on the deck since it lacked a bunch of commander's pilar card types but as I played with the deck I really enjoyed all the times I have cast my commander, it was awesome and fun! I know you tried to improve the deck-building by letting us do the pairs and thank you for that but as a suggestion for future events maybe include some Commander Masters / Commander Legends boosters or even just the "The Prismatic Piper" card to really have all the options open while deck-building. Once Again thank you for hosting these events! You got this! ;D
Trivia mastermind is amazing. I think I'm going to try to convince my friends to let me build it. Unsure what I'd do with it but I'd have a funny theme in it. I love these play test cards! Also will we get more lore for Kess in the future? She's such an awesome art and design that I'd love to see her do stuff with her vials she is collecting.
I cannot express how hyped I am for Bloomburrow. My new favorite set hands-down. Also you should totally have a commander that can't be sacrificed and creates one of the kaldra artifacts every time you cast it from the command zone.
I'm glad to see the test cards I didn't pull in this video! Sadly I was disappointed by the event because of the high price, lackluster prize (value aside, the Horizon Seeker doesn't feel like an interesting commander to build around), and most importantly the fact that all the test cards I encountered were very tame in their designs, which gave me an Unfinity draft flashback. The event sadly felt much less special than I hoped for. Now that I know it was there, I'm sure pulling The Clever Magician would have made the whole experience much more enjoyable :)
The horizon seeker seems so fun, I'd love to have a deck that could work with both them or Gen, confider of ages, getting the right mix of unique abilities and different years. Just have to get my hand on these cards somehow 😅 Hope to get to make an unknown event one day, they seem extremely fun
I think Gelato and Pizza effects should be switched. Gelato "freezes" a creature, while pizza lets you "flatten" blockers by running over them. Aww I'm hungry!
I had fun during the event, but I wished The Wise Sable had a cheaper mana cost, so I could cast them more often. Sadly didn't open any blink effects in my pool, so I was only able to cast them 7 times in total over the three games. Had Yavimaya + Life and Limb g1, then Humility and Opalescence g2. g3: Opalescence, Blood Moon, Life and Limb iirc. I also had the Juggernaut. Attacked with it once and hit Black Tulip 😂
Gavin could there ever be an equipment that makes the equipped creature not legendary? if you made a copy the copy would still be legendary but the original would be safe from the legend rule. would help a lot with cards rotate control like Alexios or slicer😊
As Gavin said near the beginning of the video, these cards don't really work within the rules, but they work within the framework of the Unknown event 0:55
CR 903.8 says "cast", not "play", so if this was actually added to the game, either the rules would need an update or the card itself would need an ability to allow playing it for the tax. Something like: "You may play CARDNAME from the command zone by paying {X}{X}, where X is the number of times you have played a card named CARDNAME from the command zone this game."
Hey Gavin, I want a Mardu legend that does the Valakut Exploration effect (bottle draw to graveyard after, don't care about the damage part) triggered by one or more cards leaving graveyard (OG Quintorius or partner Tormod trigger). I know the exact text that I want, but apparently you aren't allowed to look at it.
4:57 - Why does WOTC have a worse card creator than pirates? Y'all should have bought cardconjurer instead of shutting it down, it can do automatic text length adjustment to keep things on one line.

In case you havent noticed this game is the worst it has ever been and exponentially gets worse with each set you "design". Cant wait for the "value" booster scam when people realize they just spent money on draft chaff.
Can you talk about how something so obnoxious and broken as Nadu was approved by the design team? Don't need to be a genius to see that the card was wrong in so many levels.

Hello gavin, can you please stop giving strong Ward effects to black creatures with a ton of stats? it´s getting annoying by now that 90% of relevant threats with ward in standard are black, with bloomburrow the 2 calamity beasts that have ward are black
