Them Chrome Shields are Stator Eaters. Take em off. It helps dissipate heat when they are not on. Look good but they kill stators and starters due to overheating them.
not sure the name but I did see some on ebay.. usually one side only and such.. came with the bike. Originally bike came from Florida.. I'm in Canada.. original owner must have put them on .. they make bike look better cause underneath the engine area is just a dull grey color , engine covers make a huge difference. (I have heard they keep the engine to hot and burns out the stater (which is a bitch to replace) I have replaced the stater once but they all had staters that burned out so not sure it's true. I'm keepint them on though.
I would say around 2500- 3000 in Canadian dollars... the 1500 and 1800 seem to hold their value more than the older gold wings 80 to 83. Mine you others I have seen were in a lot rougher shape.
Pretty excited to be picking up an 83 GL1100 in a couple weeks from a friend.
she's a beauty..I have 82 that runs like a champ.. never ever sell her
Love these old wings. I have a '79 GL 1000 and '01 1800. Yours looks really nice. You should've started it up.
Looks great! Regards, Johnny
