Hello from the UK. I have followed this video over the last 3 days and successfully stripped my 1983 GL1100 interstate. Its in considerably worse condition than yours though! I have looked at some of your other videos and I shall also be following them, very informative and nothing better than watching someone do it rather than interpreting from a manual. Did you go internal on the engine and replace all bearings and seals?
I didn't open the engine. Took front cover off to hack in the gear position sensor. Need to do rear cover - leaks oil, but have to take engine out to do that :(
@@TomasMazukna yes I’m thinking as I have the engine out I should just strip it and replace seals and gaskets as would be gutting to have to do it again once back in bike. Just a lot of extra work!

@@jamesfogartysr2156 I wanted to see you actually remove the tank itself... to see which way you twisted it to dropped it down and back. Your answer had nothing to do with my comment.
the mission of all time to disassemble the bike, clean it, paint it, put it back together and then do it again in front of the camera, respect 🤠

It is a 80 or 81 standard,83 went with dual piston brakes front and rear.

The one thing I wanted to see was the tank removal... sigh.
The rear wheel has to be removed to get gas tank out.
