I have a designated usb drive for taking files from my computer to the machine. After I've stitched it, I can delete that file from the usb. That usb remains clear of unnecessary files. I think it allows my machine to access the file faster.
I put the vendor name as a folder name in ALL CAPS to differentiate it from folders that are categories. The folder with my personal stuff starts with "_" so it shows up first in the list. Get a backup drive and some software to automatically copy your files overs
Thank you for this video explaining how to organise my embroidery files. I am almost proud to say that I understood what you were saying!!! I use wifi to transfer my downloads to my computor and I make a back up of each design onto a portable hard drive. Well actually my partner set it up for me, so I know what buttons to push and yell for help when I have done something wrong!! I would like to say that most of my designs on my system have been downloaded from Embroidery Legacy, I am always really pleased with them and I have never had a failure. I just wish my knowledge of computors was as trustworthy.
That's awesome Gill! A hard drive is definitely a great way to go! Especially if your partner is there to help! Appreciate all of your support. Thanks for watching!
Thank u for all the wonderful info I'm very new to embroidery I got my first machine and am currently learning how to find save and download the designs but I had no idea u could get a computer virus so thank u for the tips oh and FYI u got the right guy in your video what a very nice smile 😊
thanks for sharing. I just got done transferring and organizing all of my designs because I bought a new computer. It took me two weeks. But now everything is identified by digitizer, company, and catagories. I am just waiting for the portable hard drive i ordered online to make a back up everything.
Great ideas. I will check your site. I was wondering when you download a design do you keep Al the formats? I only use PES so typically I delete all the other formats. I’m so afraid of filling up my computer. Also I have a external drive (1TB) that I want to move everything.
Thank you for a quick but concise video to relay information on organizing your embroidery files. Also for the handsome well-spoken presenter. I was unaware of your club definitely check that out! Happy Sunday
A question I have when organizing embroidery files is what do you do with in the hoop projects? Say it is a coaster with a fish. Does it go in an aquatic file or an ith file? Both?
Thank you for this video, but i have one question i hope you guys answer me ): If i bought one of these designs and transferred it to my embroidery machine (brother v3se )should i use PE-design to transfer it into my machine?? Or jus i use my pc and the USP
One tip I really love is to Rename with a descriptive word BUT, keep the original design named used by the vendor. And add the vendor's name. If for any reason your file becomes corrupt, you know where to get a fresh file. i.e., "K4321.pes". I would rename it to "Roses K4321 John Deer.pes" John, thank you so much for this informative and succinct video.
What are your tips for organizing your embroidery designs? 🧵 Let us know!
