Really practical tips. Unfortunately or not, I pretty much always look like I slept in somebody’s van. No walk of shame, just always have projects going so I’m always a bit mussy.
Shoes: Have at least on pair on hand that are clean and shined.

Yours is the only van channel I have seen that shows van life can be clean, neat, beautiful and gracious. There is nothing fake, deceptive, frenetic, out to impress or show off.
It's wholesome, beautifully presented, inspiring, and I usually learn something important. Other times I just enjoy your company.
Thanks for coming back. So glad you felt like it!

Dee, you are one of those people that no matter what you wear, you look wonderful. I love that you present topics like this for van lifers. Along with keeping one's van clean and neat, it is also important to ensure you are presentable in public. We men don't really concern ourselves about fashion but that our clothing is functional. I like to look neat and clean. The clothing I wear most times are shorts, tees made of non-wrinkable, wicking materials. Like you, I love shoes and have 10 to 12 pair in my van, including western boots (for dancing...lol). Once in a while I treat myself to a night out 😃😊. I donate a lot of clothes to
Goodwill and will replace them with fresh items. I keep my dress up outfits covered in either a suit bag or in heavy plastic ( contractor bags) and hung on a mounted clothes bar. My tees, shorts, underwear are stored in one of the upright three-drawer plastic bins. Every item is rolled rather than folded allowing more variety of clothing selections.

Basic minimal travel wardrobes are easy. Been doing them for years, but packing for a safari in Kenya and Tanzania was life changing for me. We were limited to 15 kilos including carry on That is a carryon sized suitcase. My subsequent wardrbe choices have pretty much reflected that same mix and match minimalism, as a result. I always have a single flash silk top that takes up no space or weight for a ritzy night on the town, plus a string of fake pearls that will dress anything up. Black looks terrible on me, as do scarves, so I rely on kharkis, reds and purples with black or grey pants. I also have a few floral or loud printed arty tee shirts as options for my base layer. A couple of merino jumpers/sweaters and a red and khaki fleece jackets. I avoid really cold climates as much as I possibly can, so no ski gear, but a good down jacket for sure and another that is a bit more arty. Arty is definately my style!

Hi Dee, My wife and I are in Our 5th year of full time travel. Our vehicle is smaller than Yours so I think We probably are Minimalist. My clothing is 2 of everything. 2 T’s, 2 Underwear, 2 shorts, 2 long pants, 2 pair socks, long Johns (top and bottom, 1 Long Sleeve Dress shirt, light pullover hoodie, light down jacket, gloves, baseball hat, and winter hat. Wife’s is similar with 2 of each with additional underwear and socks. Shoes are flips, sandals, and hiking shoes. Merino wool is Our preferred fabric and all must be shed wrinkles fast, dry fast after hand washing. Colors are, like You suggested. Neutral, go with everything and layer, easily. Sorry, Wordy comment, I know but Your topic, today was spot on, as We were just going through our clothing to see if there were things We needed to change going into Summer. Thank You. Look forward to All your videos. See You out there.

@@ekdaufin1485 Actually, not doing laundry “all the time.” It takes minutes to wash out clothes. With right clothing choices, drying is fast, as well. Proper washing when near laundromat, etc. For us, it’s multi use, layering, and simple clothing styles and colors. May not be tight for Everyone, but, It works for us.

I love this video Dee, I am not a van lifer, but I am now retired and work mostly outdoors around my home. I've always worked in suits, heels, full makeup, etc. I did give away 90% of my wardrobe. However, trying to establish a useful, minimalistic wardrobe that works for me now is new territory. Your advice, the 80/20, what fits, keeping items that don't wrinkle (no rips etc) , and textures such as the merino wool blends is very helpful. Most everything you talk about in all your videos is very applicable to my life. Thanks so much Dee, have a wonderful week! 🥰😀

Dee you're always wonderfully kitted out, you'd look good in anything! Check out men's clothes too, they are often cheaper and more practical. Clothes are often unisex now, particularly outdoor gear. YES. YES. YES. No reason not to show your best look on the road. Three secrets to share. #1 Capsule Wardrobe (some have it down to 40 items) #2 Packing Cubes (I traveled for six months with 7 cubes in a 32" LL Bean duffle bag & two 18" long compression bags (for footware and outerwear.) #3 Do hand laundry almost daily. Wring them out then lay on dashboard then cover with a microfiber cloth the same color as the dashboard. Even on the cold days its dry in 12-18 hours. So rarely have dirty clothes. Finally no rule you have to return with the same clothes you left with. Consider routinely swapping out a couple new pieces a month. I just feel better with something new in the duffle.

I don’t live in a van but I tent camp a lot and I mean a lot, I always bring one decent simple outfit in case I decide to go to a restaurant but the rest of my camping clothes…… is just about what has stains or some rips because I know I’m just going to ruin my regular clothes. Again I don’t live in a van though, it just takes me a couple of minutes to change to nicer clothes since my Gazelle tent is very roomy. Good advice but what I really want to know is how is it that you’re hair always looks amazing. Thanks for the tips.

Very useful strategy, like your style, you look great! . Even if I love colourful clothes, when I travel I opt for neutral colours except for light large scarves ( pop color ) they don’t take much space and I can use them around my waist over a bathing suit , neck, shoulders, head when I ‘m cold, protect myself from the sun , use them with magnets as a privacy screen on my hatch ( I like when they float in the wind), and finally even to wrap things to carry on walks. Also I like to have a more dressed outfit if I’m invited for a special occasion. Have a great week!

I reckon I don't put much thought on my appearance. That's just me. I hope your path will bring you to Fredrock this fall, we plan to be there for Jonnie and Bev's meet-ups, would love to get to meet you. Take care of you, have a great day!

Great video 😊. Great tips no matter where you live. I have two rules for clothing, never pay retail (when I travel I love to check out the small town’s on the way, (they always have thrift stores) and when I buy something, something has to go. I don’t live in my suv, but I live as if I do, especially when it comes to “stuff” . As always, great job 😎

WOW! I love it. Not only practical, logical but uniquely stylish. All basic but quality.
You know Dee, I really understand. I owned my own 18-wheeler for 7 and 1/2 years. Lived out of my beautiful customized semi truck home. Space was premium and important real estate inside my tiny home. I thought similarly about wardrobe. I was going from one extreme weather to another so like you everything on board that I might need, had to be there. But not too much, because every piece has to serve several purposes exactly as you stated. I could be in the Yukon one day found myself in Florida the next week. I appreciate your summary on frabrics. Thank you for finding this video for me. I really appreciate it. I'm thinking about going out on the road again and I just enjoy your videos so much.

I have a base wardrobe that is mainly grey, back and dark blue. To add pops of colour I have two very lightweight sheer tunic tops that will go with all my base colours. They dress up even basic jeans and black long sleeve top and a pair of dress boots. They take up very little room and are very easy to launder..

Hi girl. Glad to see you back!
Have you seen what some of these other gals are not wearing, on their channels?
You by far are one of the nicest dressed women that is boondocking out of a small van.
Just curious what your parents think about this boondocking adventure with you? Are they supportive?
Now I too live in an RV, 5th wheel to be specific, but I pay to stay in an rv resort. I sometimes envy what you all are doing out there and your exploring places of interest.

I have grays, browns blacks as well. For pops of colour and ease of storage I use scarfs - light summer and warm winter ones. I don't wear jeans as i find them hot in the summer, cold in the winter and take forever to dry. 💐 😊❤🇨🇦
